Im paying a 4.11 for a gallon of gas >:(
$3.85 here in Tn
Sooner or later people are just going to be working for gas
I ride a bike mostly and take mass transit. I win.
4.92 per gallon
which is 1.30 a litre here, damn that'd fucked.
yall can't touch that
:(
3.89
the reason gas is rising is because we are getting to the end of our oil supply
you guys should just stop driving all together except when its needed
ive been riding my bike as much as possible

i said as much as possible. im sure you use the vehicle by yourself just to do simple little errands that you can walk or bike too. i really wasnt talking from a parents standpoint since most of the members from this board dont have any children. i myself dont either ( that came out like im angry. lol )
but personally. im young and most of the things i use my car for are things i can bike too instead.. i still use the car far too much. but its so much easier
its a shame their isnt an alternative to gasoline.. to be honest. its pathetic
we can fucking clone humans. but god forbid we find something to ride around in that doesnt take gas
i really wish i was popular and in the media so i could show people how blind they are being toward everything
its really all about money
they are afraid to find an alternate to cars. or alternate to gas. because then people will lose tons of money whose livelihood rely on cars or gas
i understand the dillemma. but the world really shouldn't revolve around money anymore. we should delete money. and just have one big party. every fucking day. we can split the work evenly and all share in the fun when its over
this world is backwards... its like we somehow found an every day balance in such a chaotic place. it really is sad cause it doesnt have to be like this
lol look at me im tripping out in the fucking gas prices thread

Bullshit, there are already lots of alternatives. Only nobody wants to pay for it, plus are being held back by oil-companies and the government.
There are hybrid cars, cars (well here mainly busses) that already ride on water etc.
But the government won't get any taxes anymore if we start driving on water. And oil-companies will also be losing a lot of income.
But saying there are no alternative to gasoline is bullshit.
I pretty much don't go anywhere without my kids... and there is no "mass transit" in our town.... so. We have to drive everywhere.

i here nissan is releasing an electric car in 2009-10. The technology for alternative fuels has been around for more than 100 years (steam power!) but the unions (trucking) and oil companies (obvious) have major political influence. and for anyone who says the unions have nothing to do with it is naive. they single handedly got the highway system built, putting an end to the rail era. also the unions have major sway at ALL car companies. now im not saying that unions are bad (hell my dad belongs to one) but they do have extraordinary political muscle. large semis arent efficent (yet) using alternative fuels, can you imagine how expensive diesel would be if there were cheaper alternatives?
But even with electric cars, the pollution because of making more electricity would be HORRENDOUS. (fossil plants, nuclear plants, hydro)

again, the technology for geo thermal, solar and wind is quite old. makes you wonder why no one developed them further in the past..... we are just now making it efficent to use these types of sources.
It's a shame.
Wankers, i pay 9.30 for 1 gallon (USD)....
4.19 here pisses me off, but it made be feel better being in NYC this weekend and seeing them paying 4.59
Jumped to $3.94 yesterday :(
Again this post?
I pay sort of US$1.25 to fill up my tank... The whole tank, not a gallon.
Lucky, right? I live in Venezuela.
When I was a kid and I watched american tv and all that stuff I always was kinda concerned about the fact of gas stations having credit cards sources to pay. I was like, WTF I can buy a Coke with the money I use to pay gas, why would anyone pay with credit card?... Now I get it.

When it comes to evil men and their plans, you just have to let them be, even though it affects you and me, just pray and let it be, theres nothing you can do, don't think your vote counts, it never did, even when they stole the last two elections! but still their gonna do what they always do and keep getting rich because that somehow fulfils them, they never were taught that the best things in life are from nature, the biggest thing they are ruining. not just the ozone and the atmosphere, but humans themselves, and every other mammel for that matter. they themselves are the dirtiest dog sinking their canines into all the dead. Gas prices? I syphon and run!
ok so I didnt read through this entire thread, so sorry if I repeat something that has already been said. But I noticed some bitching about alternative fuels.
I could not agree more. Its bull shit that we did not move away from our dependence of fossil fuels much earlier. The oil companies could have been pushed into energy companies years ago. I just dont think anyone saw the need to push hard enough. However, no need to get too worked up. It is in motion. Honda is coming out with their hydrogen powered car in the US in 2009. Thats a great first step. that shit is going to sell out before they even hit the lots. Thats going to make the other car companies want to compete. in 5 years, most of us will probably be filling up with hydrogen ( god I hope anyways )
and kelly, totally legit about more energy to produce energy. But like Josh said, wind and solar power are starting to advance and be used a lot more. And I dont know if this makes sense to anyone else. But why not develop a hydrogen plant, that runs on hydrogen. So you pollute a bit to make a little bit of hydrogen at first. Then you make a lot of hydrogen with that? I know in Iceland they have been using hydrogen for a while. I guess they have a lot of natural steam they use to produce it or something of that sort. Also lets not forget that Nuclear power ( although it has a bad stigma ) is actually really clean, safe, and effective these days.
I really believe that regardless of who the next president is. As soon as bush is out of office there will be a big push towards alternative energy. Just give it another year or so.
oh and fireal, we are no where near running out of Oil. We could all drive SUVs until your great great grandkids couldn't even breath anymore and we still wouldn't be out of oil.
But no gas price for me, I have not paid for gas in over 2 years. Haven't owned a vehicle since I joined the navy.
It costs me $4.49 to fill up my car.
They have dozens of alternate fuels but no one gives a fuck. Whatever happened to Hydrogen fuel?
refer to the post right above you smart kid
But isn't Hydrogen extremely dangerous as far as combustion? I have family that has worked for TVA (one of the largest producers of energy in America),so i'm aware of all the solar energy and stuff, but unfortunately it can't amount to the power produced by fossil fuels. Here's a link to the TVA site and their "attempt" at green power.
http://www.tva.gov/greenpowerswitch/index.htm
My dad just retired as an engineer from the Department Of Energy and he cant figure out for the life of him how anyone would think it safe to be driving around with what he calls a "hydrogen bomb" in their car. He thinks it is way too combustible. However, I think somewhere beyond the mind of my father, they figured it out. Hydrogen cell technology has advanced like crazy in the past decade.
But like I said, Honda is releasing its "clairty" in 2009. Thats just over 6 months away. http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity/ (http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity/) and from what I understand it has already been released in Europe. So, regardless of if it can blow up a city block or not, its here.
NZ$2.12 per litre here.
I don't drive much though, it interfares with my drinking.

You're dad sounds smart. LOL! But,those cars, along with hybrids are fucking EXPENSIVE! To lease that Honda it's $600 a month...that's just retarded!! It's a lose lose situation.
its not about money at this point. Its about a step in the right direction. More and more hydrogen cars will hit the market and competition will bring down the price. Just give it a couple years. The clarity is obviously for some smug ass hole in san francisco who wants to feel that by driving a zero emissions car he is preventing global warming ( even though thats crap ) and has the money to pay for that good feeling. But eventually the hydrogen car will be for those of us who want to get of foreign dependency for oil. Plus all that good shit like cheaper fuel and being environmentally friendly and all that.

But it's like £1.29.9... fuck it pretty much £1.30 per litre... which is about 2 and a half dollars. I was looking through some pictures of me and my friends from about 2 years ago and there's a petrol station in the background and the price is like 80p :/
It's pretty ridiculous and with the way things are going I don't think I'm ever gonna bother to learn to drive. It'd be a waste of money completely for me when I can get a week ticket for the bus for 10 quid. Like, here they're soon introducing congestion charges so to get from my house to city centre where I work [about 6 miles away] I'd have to pay around £30 to £40 a week just to get in and out of town. Then I'd have petrol, insurance, parking [my boss has to pay £10 a day :|], plus however much it'd cost for lessons and to take my test and in the end it's not gonna be worth it.
yeah, fuck all of that. I love not driving. I love how the whole world is freaking out about gas prices and it hasn't effected me one bit. I say distance yourself from all this bull shit as much as possible until the world gets their shit together.
They have crazy deals goign on here. If you spend over $150.00 you get 11cents off a littre, if you spend $15.00 in the shop you get $5.00 off your petrol bill. The fucked up thing is that the government takes 12.5% for GST (our govnerment tax) and then a huge section is taken by normal tax.
But, if the price of petrol is affecting everything, why hasn't the price of plastic changed?
where do you live?
The nicest plasce on the planet. New Zealand!
do you have free health care in new zealand? Or some other form of large government social program?
it's like $3.89/gallon here, only cuz there's a refinery pretty close to here.

That doesnt seem very economic. However it would be really funny to watch.
prices went down here by 15 cents...hooray!!
So if you have a 20 gallon tank. You just saved $3.00.
It always confused me why people bicker over one stations being a penny more or less. People will drive across town to save a dollar on gas because one station is 2 cents less than one close to their house. Strange.
I know, when end the end they wind up the same cause they wasted gas driving farther. (reminds me that I hate people that "stalk" you at the store for your parking spot and you have a shit ton of things to put in the car still, when they coulda parked a little further away and already been in the store but noooooo they're too fucking lazy.)

yeah no shit. that parking lot shit bugs me too. I always just park on the furthest end of the parking lot. You are guaranteed to get a spot right away. And you actually burn a significant amount of calories thought the week by doing so. Even in huge parking lots its like a 1 or 2 min walk. really people, you cant handle this?

yeah exactly. I figured so much. Americans think gas prices are bad now. If Obama get elected and actually convinces congress to go along with his ridiculous health care plan. We are all going to be paying $10.00 a gallon. Taxes will be out of this world. Nothing is free kids.

dude it's terrible how badly the democrats want to turn this country into a socialist state
I dont think your average voter thinks about that. Well, granted your average voter probably doesn't even know the difference between democracy and socialism. But still. Its so easy for a politician to just pitch some idea that sounds all warm and fuzzy. When in reality its complete bull shit. No one actually takes the time to think about the long term. "oh no one will go hungry or homeless and free health care for all!!! vote for me!!! " ok, sounds nice and all. But who is going to pay for their food , shelter, and healthcare if they cant? Right, think long and hard about that one. Why not just give the government all of our money. And let them distribute it equally. Then we can all be equally the same and happy. Whats that called again?

QuoteLike weight, horsepower depresses fuel economy. Simply knocking a third off the horsepower of new U.S. passenger vehicles would, in about a decade -- as efficient new vehicles replace wasteful old ones -- eliminate approximately the amount of oil the United States imports from the Middle East. Yes, it's that simple. Race cars need lots of horsepower; suburban family cars do not. Excessive horsepower causes the United States to be dependent on Middle East dictatorships, engages military commitments to those dictatorships, drives up the price of oil and pushes down the value of the dollar. Horsepower is also the enabler of road rage -- rapid acceleration allows cutting off, drag racing and sudden lane changes. Road rage entered national consciousness as a problem in the mid-1990s, exactly when the horsepower ratings of new vehicles began to spike.

I live in Atlanta and we're having problems getting fuel here. There were at least 40 min waits this past Sunday at gas stations because they were getting fuel in. I made the mistake of waiting until my tank was almost empty to go fill up a few hours ago at around midnight cause I figured the lines would be shorter, but it was still at least a 10 min wait. I know!!!!!!! South Carolina's not as bad a u guys, but we're definitely short on supply. To make matters worse, trucks transporting our fuel are getting into wrecks on the way here....it's like I'm going to run out of gas before I can find a working pump...plus u have greedy bitches trying to fill numerous personal gas tanks leaving the rest of us with nothing...plus the price gauging which is definitely going on here
