Title: Shihad
Post by: Martin on May 31, 2015, 02:37 PM
New Zealand rockers Shihad are doing a Pledgemusic campaign to get their latest, ninth studio album (produced by Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke) 'FVEY' out in Europe (and tour it too).

This album was alot better than the other new stuff which went a bit soft and ballady but the repetition on this album is insane, I start a song because I feel like hearing a certain rift or whatever and I find myself skipping to the next track before it finishes just because it doesn't go anywhere it sounds like 2 30 second segments copy and pasted together to make a 3 min song

FVEY was my favourite album of 2014 and one of my favourites of all-time by now, probably. It's so fierce. The repetition might not be for everyone but it's for sure intentional - reliance on "the riff" is one of their most prominent Killing Joke influenced elements.

Such an awesome live band, one of New Zealand's best.

Here's FVEY's performed live in it's entirety,

Oh yes, including partial lyrics from Helmet's In The Meantime, where earthtone9's name comes from. They're the reason I discovered Shihad in the first place, actually. Original is such a classic cut!

True, true...same goes for me; now Shihad through Earthtone9.
