Title: European tour 2017
Post by: Vesanic on Apr 18, 2017, 11:19 AM
Thought a separate thread would be cool

Who's in Vienna tonight? I'll be there and in Zurich in two days but won't be taping. I will however record shows I'll attend after the aforementioned.

Who'll be there at the Tonhalle, Munich tonight? I'll be in line around 2 o'clock. Take care, guys, because it's going to be freezing!

That setlist, though... I'm loving it already!

Great setlists so far.

Dropped (L)MIRL, Acid Hologram and Doomed User from first night. Added Geometric Headdress and Rubicon. Mixing it up!

EDIT. Apparently, Rubicon was on the setlist but not played ?

hi,

Man.. Deftones really was in good shape in Vienna. You would never say they are playing shows like this for 20 years.
Few of my own personal thoughts on the performance in Vienna:

- Venue: cool building, expensive beer, 'nah' sound and rude security.

- There were a few glitches in the performance. Beginning of the show Chino yelling to the tech crew, Chino voices down on some songs, Stephans guitar had no groove, Chino fucked up during (L)mirl (apology to Stephen just after the song?) and they looked at eatch other more than they usually do. Nothing really bad, my remarks do'nt have negative intentions. It's just cool to notice those little details. They really are doing an effort for their fans, that's much appreciated. There was definitly some kinda tension on the stage. Only good vibes off course. :)

- Setlist, not my favourite to be honest. I liked the setlist last year (pretty close to my ideal one) but it's cool to see some fresh tunes. Highlights are Minus Blindfold and Korea as an opener. Big misser is S/T album.

- Circle Pits at a Deftones in 2017 are a fact. I saw a mostly 'older' crowd, people in their thirties. Met guys from all of Europe. Deftones fans are loyal fans, that's for sure.

- The crowd reaction on new(er) songs was mild. Acid Hologram is better live than on cd but Gore big disappointment. It jus't doesn't do it for me.

- Prayers and Triangles as the encore was the biggest anticlimax in Deftones history :)

- Where the hell is Hearts/Wires? :)

Conclusion: We are all getting older, fatter but Deftones still rocks the stage. Amen!

Tom

I really like this mixing up idea, but to have Rubicon, Acid Hologram and Kimdracula in one set list, my dream come true. I got to see Acid and Kim live though.

Great show in Milan, got the full thing.

Merch is straightforward, black and white, album covers, tour schedules.

Any word on the Zurich set?

Me neither. It's funny to see the difference on social media between the Italians and the Swiss. The Milan show has countless photos and updates while almost nothing on Zurich.

So far most changes in the setlist are on the new 'Gore' songs.
Setlist in Milan was a bit shorter, let's hope that this was an exception. :)

greetings
Tom

Should be there around 6.

Zurich had no notable differences, neither did Offenbach yesterday.

I feel we might get some ST SNW today. Need to hear Rubicon though!

Im still not sure but I'll probably tape tonight.

Don't know why but Holland usually gets special treatment (like that time with Combat The Boy's Republic etc.)

Same in 2010 after the AB, they had the same set (think it was the Melkweg) except they had Royal added

Yesterdays highlight for me:

! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWhnuYuL-04#)

Besides that nothing too crazy! Prayers/Triangles was on the setlist but not played.

It was good seeing everyone again! :)

Patted at the entrance, but same set. Milan was better than all I've seen so far (except Vienna obvs). I'll upload it tomorrow even though most songs are already up there. Think my shot is pretty neat.

Is anyone going to go to the show in Hamburg? I'm going to get there tomorrow, so does anyone know whether the Mehr! Theater is any good? Would noon or one o'clock be an appropriate time for me to be first in line?

Also, since I'm going to London (after Cologne), does anyone know whether British fans tend to be early birds? So far, the line has been starting around 4 or 5 PM in Munich and Tilburg, but I've heard that queueing for Alexandra Palace should start a few hours earlier. Can anyone confirm that?
