Was curious to see what was everyone's dream gem. Name ONE track, not more. Feel free to explain why, it would be interesting.
Mine is obviously Pink Maggit. It's not only my favorite song, hearing it live was the one dream that got me into Deftones and bootlegging in the first place. Sad to observe it's never happened. I think if played right after a well acclimated encore, it would be the most epic thing, sound and mood wise.
What about y'all?
It's Pink Maggit for me too.
I'm well aware that it could be argued that they wouldn't do it in the way they may have done it had they played it in the self titled era (you can imagine with the dark lighting and all the reverb on Chino's mic how amazing it would have looked and sounded back then) but I still think it would be incredible if they did it now.
For the life of me, I can't work out why they never play it.
Does Finger of Death/Buffalo count? I'll choose that.
Seeing and listening to the live videos, it just sounds so punishing and it sounds like someone is being murdered from the 2:00 to 2:30 mark.
So disappointed they never finished/released it.
Lovers, Battle-Axe, Xerces
...also The Boys Republic.
I think the majority vote goes to Pink Maggit.
It's as if they're so afraid to play that song that they're just gonna play Mini Maggit for the rest of their lives to try and compensate.
Lovers
Moana
The Boys Republic
Pink Maggit

Lovers
Moana
The Boys Republic
Pink Maggit
this whole list is right up my alley.
Lovers 8)
Now... Kimdracula, Lovers!
I would love to hear them play Smile.
Battle-Axe. I love the song and I just think it'd be amazing to hear it live. It used to be MX, but I finally heard them play it last year and it was a dream come true. So yeah, Battle-Axe. Honourable mentions go to Can't Even Breathe and Crenshaw Punch for similar reasons.
Damone
Besides everything that's been mentioned, I'd have to say Gauze. Time to hear that joint live.

I can't just pick one.
I'll keep it to two. In my current mindset, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep and Royal. Although I fear for my life if they played Royal really well and he hit that scream just right.
pink maggit
boys republic
MASCARA !!!!!
- Can't Even Breathe.
- The Chauffeur.
- Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event.
- Lovers.
- Konami Code.
- Goon Squad.
Deathblow.
And if I can choose a cover, The Chauffeur

For real. You know what I think of KNY, but Gauze and Graphic Nature are the ones I really get into.
Gauze haha, Nah. My choice, Damone.

I'd actually love to hear Gauze tbh. Damone would be even better, though.
Pink Maggit for God's sake.
And since it seems to be common opinion, I'll add anything they've never played before.
I'm still mad how they hyped up the Rise Against/Thrice tour by saying " we're planning on playing songs we haven't played in a while and songs we NEVER played " and then that turned out to be total bullshit because they didn't play a single song that they never played before during the whole tour.

They didn't say that they would play never played songs, just that they planned to do so. Well, they did plan it (didn't work out for whatever reasons) so - no bullshit.
They hadn't played Phantom Bride before the last few dates of the European tour.
Entombed.
I said it before, it's meaningful for me, all that relationship, breakup bullshit.
Battle-Axe is some I'll freak out if they played again.

That's the problem with that song.
It actually means too much to my entire family and would crush the mood when they play it.
I guess that's fine for everyone else, but I would rather not pay 100 bucks per person, just to have my woman erupt into tears and leave the venue.
So my personal vote would be no, but hey, that's life. If you want to hear it once, I hope you get the chance to do so.

I feel you bro .. Sorry to hear that.
Hope one day you can all listen to this song with peaceful memories.
I'd cry too if they played sappy crap like that

I also used that song for a video tribute to my dog that died ( got a new one now, don't worry ) so it'd probably cause some tears to flow from me as well.
Like Linus
Depending on mood: either Damone or The Boy's Republic
I've changed mine from Battle-Axe to Crenshaw Punch. I mean, there's always a small hope they'll play Battle-Axe again, but how many times have they played Crenshaw Punch, once???
Street Carp
Smiths cover
Damone
Basically all the West stuff you know they'll never do. Also Simple Man so I can cry with a crowd of like-minded dudes :'(
Pink Maggit
I can't believe I'm writing this... after 15 years, I've just seen Deftones play Battle Axe again live. And yes, it sounded MASSIVE.
Oh and also PPP Let Me Get What I Want. What a show!
