anyway i'll do it right now, not thinking to much... let me see...

This choice of ten songs is made so complicated for me by the fact that I simply cannot fully exist as a complete human entity without a majority of the songs from S/T....  But I guess ill try to narrow this shit down...

1. Fireal (Mysterious, paranoid sounding verse builds into an explosion of inhuman screaming with a sharp harmonic underneath it diffuses into simply one of the most bad ass riffs ever. Timeless Deftones classic.)
2. Cherry Waves (Ominous while simultaneously uplifting. Awesome subtle guitar and effects in the verse, as well as hi hat crashes which resemble the pull and tug of ocean waves themselves. The creepy laughing is a nice touch too.)
3. Minerva (Beautiful guitar intro and vocal performance from Chino, sounds like it could be the national anthem of some fictional location on another planet when heard acapella, plus the surreal dynamic of Frank's synths and Stephs crushing guitar make this song melancholy and yet extremely hopeful in a fashion not captured by any other song Ive ever heard. )
4. Lovers (Unusual synthy opening suddenly pauses to lead into an epic midtempo riff, crooned through by Chino's scornful moaning. A definite contender for one of their best songs ever, love the lyrics too which almost seem to suggest either a sexual or science fictional scenario.)
5. Teenager (The sweetest, most genuinely touching Deftones song, to me personally. Seems like it could make Chuck Norris shed a tear lol.)
6. When Girls Telephone Boys (The definitive harshest Deftones song. This is really the only one where the Meshuggah influence truly shows, but I think somehow it surpasses even the darkness of most Meshuggahs songs. It suggests something worst than pure evil as Chino howls against an epic chord progression which mechanically disassembles into a dismembered rhythm of a chorus. Great lyrics and possibly the best Deftones outro ever.)
7. Pink Maggit (Atmospheric experiment between Franks effects which sound like a UFO's internal systems and computers going from perfect operation to failure and falling out of the sky, and Steph's riffs that almost like he could have transposed them to guitar from a classical composition. contrast perfectly. A near untouchable song.)
8. Hole In The Earth (There's really no other Deftones song like this because of the spacy sounding calm riffs in the verses. Also features a pretty heartwrenching vocal performance from Chino.)
9. Digital Bath (Awesome performance from Chino, Abe, and Frank. Very interesting how this song sounds kind of positive initially until you learn the true concept behind it as well....)
10. Crenshaw Punch/I'll Throw Rocks At You (Fucking great. Plain and simple.)

The rest of S/T that i didnt mention, as well as "Beware". "Riviere", "Mascara", "MX", "Korea", and "Rosemary" are also favorites.
