I'm listening to Baroness' red album for the first time in so long (too long). My god this album is fucking good!

There's a wicked Doom band from Calgary called Witchstone.

They are killing it live especially, but their bandcamp recordings are decent too I suppose.

Dingus.

Everyone go listen to "Sumac - The Deal".

Aaron Turner (ISIS) on guitar and vocals
Brian Cook (Russian Circles) on bass
Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists) on drums

This album melts my face.

Crazylegs

it's out? I've listened to the tracks that were released early, and they were pretty damn good.

bright lights, big city

I'm on it dudes. Thanks for the heads up.

Heavy, indeed!

Everything Turner touches is gold.

Oh yes ! Thanks for the heads up guys, that kicks all kinds of asses !!!!

If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face.

Another release more on the stoner side showed up on youtube recently:

Elder - Lore (full album)

Pretty awesome most of the time, i can't help but feel that they need to strip down some of their guitar parts though. They're trying too hard in some places, and they have in their previous releases too. Check it out!

Yes, yes and yes!

theis

This is awesome.

Also, the 'With the Dead' album is some of the best doom I've heard in years.

Crazylegs

Thanks for that one Theis. I've never really checked these guys out properly. The vocals sound pretty lame in my ears, but the riffage is legit.

theis

Even though I prefer my doom vocals to be grim and harsh, I like them here. Reminds me of the old school stuff like Pentagram and Sabbath.

Yeah, i see what you mean, but we're definitely talking dio-era sabbath. Did you go see Pentagram last month (i'm assuming they played copenhagen too)? I was considering it, but i've honestly never really been a fan of them either.
