award season is here, so I figured I'd give my picks for the best of 2008 even though the Oscar nominations aren't announced yet
feel free to make your own categories or whatever.

Best Overall Film: Dark Knight, then Revolutionary Road
Best Director: Chris Nolan, dark knight
Best Actor: Robert Downey Jr for being awesome in both Iron Man and Tropic Thunder
Best Actress: Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road

Best Comedy: Burn After Reading, then Forgetting Sarah Marshall   honorable mention: In Bruges
Best Animated Movie: Wall-E
Best Action Movie: Wanted
Best Horror: Let the Right One In, then The Ruins
Pleasant Surprise: Cloverfield, then Rambo
Biggest Letdown: X-Files: I Want to Believe, then Be Kind Rewind    honorable mention: The Happening
Best Foreign Film: Let the Right One In
Worst Movie I Saw in Theatres: Diary of the Dead
Unnecessary Horror Remake: One Missed Call
Unnecessary Sequel: Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Best Drama: Seven Pounds, Birds of America
Pleasant Surprise: The Fall, Dark Knight
Biggest Letdown: The Happening
Worst Movie I Saw in Theatres: Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Unnecessary Sequel: X-Files: I Want to Believe
The most overhyped movies: High School Musical 3, Twilight

in my opinion 2008 were not too rich on very good movies.

My first inclination is to disagree with you, but you are right. There were tons of average to good movies that I did enjoy. But there was definitely a lacking multiple standout, incredible films. 2007 had about a half-dozen great movies, not 08

see above. the same applied to the acting, I thought. Heath Ledger does deserve something. and maybe DiCraprio for Revolutionary Road. But I thought Downey was perfect for Iron man and he carried Tropic Thunder IMO

yeah, I did not even try to find best actor/actress because nobody really stood out in 2008. there are of course tv-show actors that I simply love, but.. well, it's movies.

dude yeah pick tv shows. i would like to see that. the last few years have seen some phenominal tv series.

I'd like to give Summer Glau an award for her performance in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. there's something else I'd like to give her too, but nevermind that...

oh, and David Duchovny is fucking excellent in Californication.
