I mean, Menos el Oso is not their best. Imho.

Highly Refined Pirates OWNS.
though. okay, they're quite equal.

Okay, I'll check out both after I've checked out new Dredg later. I hope I can find the album you mentioned, these guys' Albums seem to have been deleted from every site I go to.

I used to have something by them a long long time ago but I didn't enjoy them at all back then. Well, the years have gone by, could you suggest an album by them?

Menos el Oso or Highly Refined Pirates.
though my favourite is the Beer Commercial EP. (They Make the Beer Commercials Like This EP)

ben

The band before Minus The Bears, Sharks Keep Moving, is also worth checking out since it's a lot of the same sound as MTB.

I didn't see your initial question awe

The one band that I can say is extremely close to MTB would be Foals.

well, ben, Foals are a bit different.. at least I find them different.
I quite like 'Antidotes', but yet Minus the Bear is more of a live band - I mean less indietronica whatever. And Foals are packed with tons of synthetic sounds: )

Great story man! Gives me hope bro. Oh, and I'm planning to move to Sweden for 2 years after the summer, I have high hopes of finding some people there who will help me finish my story of finding bandmates as well  8)
In regard to this post. Well, received the results from teh Swedish University yesterday, so I am moving there for 2 years now! :) Here's to hope that the Swedish people are my type of people, just playing guitar and listening to music and all that.

Bright Lights !..Why the fuck are you so damn awesome? Cant you be a piece of shit sometimes?

Sleepymaggie

Hey everyone! Have been really busy so I havent posted for a while!.. I just got to this thread and I'm super happy about it! : )

1. Firstly Bonobo.. I've been listening to the whole discography as a whole for ages now! I think if you like any particular album you'll every other song theyve made for sure! So whoever likes bonobo get the rest! : ) Bonobo music is super pure, uplifting when you need, good to sleep to when you need sleep, nostalgic if youre feeling so...absolutely one of my favourites.

2. Kay Kay and his weathered underground..funfun..but i feel like i could get sick of this very soon. *shrug* the first 3 songs on myspace were very cool and then i didnt like his typical vocal melody. I think im having problems when he tries to sing high..but the guitar bits are catchy!

3. I'm absolutely and positively in love with Parting song for the torn sky by Crystal Antlers (played on repeat 10 times on myspace already) : D :D thank youu thank youu The rest of the songs are awesome too but the ep is downloading as i type this so when im done getting really into it ill gush about it more : ) Theyre nothing like Mars Volta! ben!

4.Starz: listened to some of black film..i totally judged it as boring at first but when i stopped thinking about it fit really well as background music though i feel like  the pregnant pauses were about to burst and they were just procrastinating on getting it going; ) some of the songs are absolutely beautiful.(read: mahabharata) though the other ones i need to be in the *right mood* to listen to it. Subheim and burial are downloading as i type this! : ) I have an feeling that these albums will be reserved for when im melancholic and dreamy. Thanks!

5.Currently downloading as i type: Facing New York  and Sunny day real estate... I have no idea what to expect here!

My recommendation is Bluetech: Prima Materia...Its bluetechs first album in 2003. Theyre kind of known but for those who havent heard im posting their album here!

They are downtempo, ambient but anything but boring. Very striking melodies, and dont have extended silences at all. Bluetech is inspired by Shulman which i love as well..Has anyone heard of any of these? Everyone I know who likes Bonobo likes these though theyre arent anything like eachother.
