I don't know, it's been a good year for music so far but there still isn't the DEFINING album of 2009 yet. If someone came up to me randomly and said 'Jesus, what's your favourite album of 2009?' I don't think I'd have an answer. Yeah I like the Sights & Sounds album a lot but it still has it's flaws...

All of these albums have been highly impressive to me and i believe metal is going in a very progressive and thriving direction.

You are correct, sir. Some really great albums this year. I think the new Poison the Well was their best. Same goes for dredg, Mastodon, Converge, and probably BTBAM
