Really got into Frontier today.  Telepathy was amazing on first listen.  Really enjoying the new ep.  Impressive.

i was thinking, if crosses third ep continues to only have one good song out of five, then maybe it would be time for a mod to change the thread title to "crosses (lulz)" ? like in the lb thread. i'm just planting seeds

My thoughts on each song:

Frontiers - Definitely the sleeper of the EP. Wasn't sure how I felt about the chorus at first, but it has grown on me a lot. Nice, grungy little track.

Prurient - Definitely my least favorite of the EP. It's a well done song, and catchy as all hell, but it's just a little too poppy for me. The bridge and guitar solo parts are nice, though.

Telepathy - Pretty wild track. I appreciate that they are trying different things and not sticking to one set sound. Definitely the "club banger" of the EP. Ha.

Trophy - Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Best song they have done so far, IMO.

1987 - The sounds in it are awesome (very prog rock), but I just wish it went somewhere. It feels like it's going to be an epic song, and then it cuts off abruptly. Kind of repetitive, too.

about frontiers chorus.. the song starts off pretty good in the beginning and verse with a grunge mixed with triphop vibe,sounds kinda fly... but then the chorus ruins it all - can't get into it. that's the same problem with a lot of songs chino songs i think like cherry waves, beauty school and this one, good til the catchyness in the chorus kicks in. and it's not only the catchyness alone that makes it bad,on top of that - it's also like if the chords and melodies are just thrown in there,they just go here and there without any thought or direction, almost like it's improvised.sounds gay. somehow this is never the case when chino sings to stephens songs, although there sometimes are weird melodies from chino, it sounds so natural and sooo perfect, they fit like a glove.
what's total opposite in 1987 compared to most other crosses songs and what makes me like it - it's wierder and darker without any terrible radio hook to ruin the song. + it sounds atmospheric and beautiful. i guess it could have a "the years" finale with heavy guitars or a radio sing along hook once again, but thank god they kept it like this.
i thought crosses would be more of these 1987 kind of songs,but the first time i heard option i kinda knew crosses weren't ever gonna be for me
