First attempt at an original song in FL9. Needs a bit more structuring, but i'm getting the hang of it

Swear the melody sounds familiar

I've been playing piano for 4 yrs, but that's it. I'd love to learn to play other things, especially the violin and drums, but...I probably lack the patience.

This is a remix I've been working on for a guy called Halogen. Meh, it needs more work which I'm hoping to complete over the weekend.

I'm not gonna be uploading the stems to Detroit until I really feel like it's done.

In related news, the band Brite Futures, until recently known as Natalie Portman's Shaved Head gave me the stems to their new track Dog Eared Summer, which I've been slowly working on remixing this past week or so.

Shit man, that's better than I sounded when I first started using FLS. Did you use any tutorials or anything? When I first started, I was getting instructions from a dude that thought it was a program for making STRICTLY loops. Not entire tracks. Naturally I learned pretty slowly. Plus I was using FL6 which pretty much blew dongs. FLS is much much more intuitive now.

But anyway, I suggest to you that you torrent some sample/loop packs because A) default FLS drum samples blow dick and B) anyone that's ever used FLS seriously can spot those samples the second one of them quietly plays in the background behind 30 heavily distorted synths. Speaking of synths, there's a massive amount of free VSTs out there and I highly suggest starting up a VST collection early. Most of the synths that come with FLS are either really shitty sounding or tough to learn how to use efficiently. I'd suggest finding a torrent pack of all the Native Instruments VSTs. They're all great. Especially if you're into softsynths that are modeled after that warm analog sound. Granted, no matter how good a softsynth is,. it'll never sound as good as a minimoog, but I love the ones that try.

Another thing, I don't think you were using effects tracks at all. I'd suggest checking out the help files immediately so you can learn how to do that.
