I think these are the rips I picked up:

Sunset Mission:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gm3ymrj5mmq
http://www.mediafire.com/?vzmiind3yit

Black Earth:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jmmzuwmgmgm
http://www.mediafire.com/?jnnwz1ajdjj

They're each broken up into two .rars but mediafire doesn't have any max download cap, just download them all at once and go eat a sammich.

Incidentally, the way I usually handle flac is to just download them and convert them with http://freac.en.softonic.com/download to 320 mp3. Only takes a couple minutes, plays in itunes, and still sounds great.

Kaizers Orchestra - Ompa til du dør (2001)

genre: gypsy punk, alternative
Sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ookuLGzK8Bo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RgXRe2qqjM#
Kaizers Orchestra has been one of, if not the most successful band in Norway over the past decade since their release of this album. They have since distanced themselves a bit from the gypsy rock sound, but they still make wonderful albums. Ompa til du dør was their first full length release and is their best recieved album to date. This album is labeled as gypsy rock, but it doesn't sound anything like Gogol Bordello or any bands of the like, it's not that upbeat, rather melancholic at times, and has more of a rock sound. I've never been a hardcore fan of Kaizers really, but i've always loved this album, and i like most of the stuff they put out, so i thought I'd share. I know they've had some success in parts of europe, but i guess it may be new to some of you Americans. Give them a shot why don't you? I recommend trying the tracks 170, ompa til du dør, or bris if you're curious.

Sorry for the lack of activity lately. I'll try and post more albums in the future.

Eels - Hombre Lobo (2009)

genre: blues/pop/singer songwriter
Sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgWV6uegu4w
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fLQ9ATx7n8#ws
I don't know if this will interest anyone, but i've been a fan of eels for many years and it never seemed like any of you on here listened to them/him. I decided to put up one of the more recent albums. I have mixed feelings about most of the eels albums, I love so many of the songs, but some songs just seem silly to me, like Lilac Breeze on this album for example. But i think this is a really solid release, and songs like tremendous dynamite, the look you give that guy, and the longing are just wonderful.

By the way i didn't upload this myself, so if there's any problems with the files let me know.

Red Fang - Murder the Mountains (2011)

genre: stoner rock
Sounds like: something in between Clutch and Baroness.

I just came across these guys a few days ago, but I'm sure many of you have already heard them. But this is a really good straight forward stoner rock album. Check it out if you haven't already. Their videos are great too.

Tortoise - TNT (1998)

genre: post rock
Sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJdv2DGu-qc
I don't really have much to say about this album, other than it's good. Sounds like jazz influenced post rock. Check out the title track or "In Sarah, Mencken, Christ And Beethoven There Were Women And Men" if you're curious.

Today i bring you two albums.

First off

The Walkmen - You & Me (2008)

genre: Indie/alternative
Sounds like: a little reminiscent of deerhunter at times

I never listened to these guys before i saw this (absolutely brilliant) videopart  Austyn Gillette Origin
I just got curious and downloaded the album. Do the same if you're feeling it, i wasn't let down.

And now, for the main course:

Slint - Spiderland (1991)

genre: experimental rock
Sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yEgcb167k4
From what i understand, this is somewhat of a cult classic. I hadn't heard of them until a few months ago, i was just cruising rateyourmusic.com and browsing through the top rated albums, and this one was at like 120 or something. I just decided to check it out, and it was pretty good. I'm not too fond of the spoken word parts, but other than that it's pretty much gold all the way through, i always put it on when i'm on long bus or train trips.

Never was a fan of Slint, and I've tried for years to like them. But The Walkmen, on the other hand, very nice!

Didn't one of the guys in slint play with Mr. Oldham in another project?

brian mcmahan and david pajo have both played with oldham during the palace years.

Generation of Vipers - Howl and Filth (2011)

genre: post-metal/sludge
Sounds like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQ54JuHG24
This is my most recent discovery in music. Downloaded this album earlier today through this blog i check out if i feel like finding something new. I've been way into bands like neurosis and Isis lately, so this was a perfect fit for me right now. It's just fucking balls to the walls metal music. I tend to be kinda picky with post metal bands cause i find a lot of them to be uninspired and sloppy, but this hit me right away. Check this out. I promise it won't be a waste of your time.

Wow. I didn't realize it's been so long since my last post here. This week i bring you:

Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left (1969)

genre: folk, singer/songwriter

This is another post with an album most of you need no introduction to, but just in case you haven't already heard it, i thought i'd be nice and let you know that you should. I guess you could describe his music as minimalistic, melancholic, at times really heavy, not like rocking, but gloomy. He has a real soothing voice and his guitar playing is really unique. Just give river man a listen,. If you don't like it, you simply have no soul.
