The Boy's Republic Acoustic/Black Stallion Question

Ok, So I have two questions to pose to you all.

1. Is this an official acoustic rendition of The Boy's Republic because it sounds really, really good.

2. Does anybody recall or know anything about this project that Deftones were kicking around called Black Stallion. I forget if it was supposed to be a bunch of remixes or if they were acoustic versions of white pony or outtakes or whatever but if it was going to be an acoustic thing and this was official, then could it have been one of the songs that would have been on it? Plus, could the acoustic version of change maybe have been recorded for that album as well?

Just questions I thought I'd pose to the world.
