I somehow can't find an existing thread, maybe it's just my Tapatalk who's going crazy...
Anyway, I found this article :
http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/173414/20150210/deftones-new-album.htm

Deftones is expected and rumored to release their new album this winter as a follow up to their 2012 record "Koi No Yokan," following the death of bassist Chi Cheng.

In the latest interview last January with the band by Music Store Live, guitarist Stephen Carpenter revealed that Deftones may be back in the studio with recording for their follow up record.

"We are actually writing a new record and we're gonna... We're supposed to be going in to record it next month, but we're taking it as it goes. I mean, we're not all the way ready now, but we've still got time and we're working on it," he said.

Taking time to come up with the brand new record may be tough for the band as the group faced a very tough road block in the past few years following the passing of one of their members.

Vocalist Chino Moreno revealed that it has been a rough journey and following up with a new album for Deftones is definitely a challenge for them.

"I get asked about that record a lot. For a while, I was giving the same answer, 'No, no, no, no, no, no, no.' After Chi's passing, I went back and listened to some of the record and it was a pretty intense experience, to say the least."

"I think it should be released, but we don't have any definite plans. There's some work to do on it. DEFTONES have been moving forward in a strong, positive motion, so for us to stop and reflect on something five years ago, I don't know if we're ready for that," he said in a previous interview.

The new album for the band is has still no concrete plans of a release but fans and experts suggest that if ever the band finishes early this year then everyone might get a glimpse of the new album by the end of 2015.

So... The boys hitting the studio soon, and a new album end of 2015??
And still no definite plan for Eros, but more of that "hey, maybe later" stuff...

What do you guys think?

IIRC they've been at least writing for at least the past six months (hence the new footage that was on their shopping cart page). I guess this means they're recording it?

If I'm not mistaken, Chino has said "Maybe later" or "Rather sooner than never" way more than he has said "No". In interviews at least.

jaypayton

would be nice if Chino actually screams on this album and goes back to his old vocal style instead of the crap from KNY

True, and this one seems to concur also...
Not all hope is lost, but I definitely don't have a lot anyway.

"We'll release Eros someday"

"This record is our heaviest yet"

"Sounds a lot like White Pony"

so how sure are we that Chino isnt just a preprogrammed robot again?

Other than Terry Date? mmh... How about Deftones themselves? I think Chino learned 1 or 2 things about producing while working with Palms, Crosses and Team Sleep. So maybe this time the guys will produce the new album on their own and hire Terry Date as the recording engineer... Its just a guessing though.

Chino and Shaun also produced "The Hierophant" by Will Haven. It's not their best album, but has some great tunes on it.

It's a possibility, could even be Aaron from Palms because he's probably the closest to a legit producer in terms of experience, but I don't think they'll do it on their own, at-least I hope they don't, I'm sure they could do an ok job Shaun did fine on SNW but by having someone who specialises in producing come in and apply their touch can take the album to another level, for instance the way Terry Date came in and finely tuned things like snare tone really made a difference overall, I just think a experienced producer can capture the best version of the song as opposed to a acceptable one.

I would really hope it wouldn't be Aaron. Nothing against him, but Palms had bad production. Maybe the producer is the guy next to Abe in that picture?

Found some exciting things out, got curious about the producer so I did some snooping and managed to find some clues, took ages but I found the console they have shown in pictures and then I managed to find the studio and on their site they mention their clients one of which is Rick Rubin which may have explain how Bill Ward was there but there is one producer in particular that stuck out, looks like the dream could still be real....
