Please don't start bringing up my opinions like they actually matter. I know it's going to happen, when Koi No Yokan dropped my existence on this board became hell on the grill. I'm a fan like any other, except I collect their concerts and analyze their live process to the bone. I mildly enjoyed DE, didn't like KNY, but I never, ever said they were weak pieces of music. Won't bother with anyone who can't understand that. Deftones don't owe anything to me, the contributions were made out of a music analyzing hobby, which I don't do only for Deftones anymore. And if they ever owed me anything, they made it up by playing Combat and The Boy's Republic for us in Amsterdam.

exactly this! after all, listening to mediocre Deftones album is like sleeping with mediocre top model
"Something in our music that has a little provocative kind of vibe to it. And I feel like that exists in our music for some reason. I don’t know where it comes from."

Getting them to play Combat was a dream come true for anyone who loves SNW and that song. Never know if they'll ever do it again!

Thanks for that Vesanic

Forgive my ignorance but did they play Combat for Ves? I remember the pink maggit debacle but I never saw the combat stuff.

When the Amsterdam show was about to happen, a couple of people here including me started an online campaign to get them to change the setlist. We asked people to retweet the requests to the members' twitters. Before the show, they posted "So what do you want to hear tonight" or something like that, which they never do. Once at the venue, we got to talk to Chino and we discussed a whole range of their songs in different perspectives, which was really cool, he was really up front and open.

Eventually, they blasted Combat out of the blue. After the song, Chino said "We played this because the fans said it would be cool" or something, that part was caught on camera but the guy I know never uploaded it. Chino then said "That's what they said", saw me in the first row and ironically asked "Is it okay with you if we play a song from White Pony?", and proceeded into screaming Elite. That bit can be watched here :

Ves, they ran you off in the KNY days, dont let them do that again. Anybodys opinion is just their opinion. Just like how i feel DE and KNY were forgetable albums. And how Self Titled is still my top album of them all. Its all just opinion, if they cant understand that then forget em, waste of time. Just dont let them run you off again bud. Respects

What did he say when you were talking to him about the songs and everything?

I can't recall everything just like that, but what I do remember is he said Back to School was a joke of a song that they play just out of a crowd-pleasing habit and he's always wanted to make a Deftones tour with only their lo-fi, experimental tracks like the Konami Code, Lucky You, Anniversary, etc.

I just want them to play Pink Maggit live. I'd die happy if I saw that.
I could float here forever

Finding a live recording of Pink Maggit is the one root reason I started the whole YouTube and live footage trading thing, like for real. 6 years or so later and still haven't found one.  :(

How does one get to talk to Chino at the show? You just have friends on the inside I guess?

Be there early and catch them out of the venue and be cool. When they tour Europe they hang out at bars and whatnot

Recently I received a call from Warner Music Colombia requesting me to get down the Gore teaser from my fan page. (Deftones.cl Latino on Facebook)  They confirmed me the name and the amount of songs of the leaked tracklist.

Interestinggg. Haha, why does the label always feel like an anti-hype machine these days? I wonder if that means we shoudn't be hopeful about other clips being released before the single? Would seem weird to me if they authorized the teaser but didn't want it around the interwebz?
Much respect,

Jesus Christ! If anyone on the band (or band crew) gets to see this: "For sure! We all love to see a tour like that, even sell my liver to attend to this!"

Yes yes, Deftones, yes yes, heavy metal, yes yes, nü metal, yes yes, fucking queer, yes yes...

Probably want it to exist only through official pages, like Deftones' YouTube or whatever.

We don't. It could very much be the cover for the single we might get soon, or just a concept cover. Honestly, if this was the album cover, I'd be ok with that. I'm really digging the flamigo's

uhh not much to go on but nice to hear the guitar isn't sounding like meshuggah. the drum beat and the riff kind of sound more like a foo fighters record to me, davey g could come in on the vocals at any second. nice to hear something though

How do we know it's the cover?

Not 100% but there are several things pointing to it being the cover. 1) the cover was posted on the shazam page before deftones ever leaked anything other than the video. 2) They ended up leaking a corner of the cover image... this doesn't mean it's the album cover but it's definitely a cover of either the single or the album. 3) the most important point here is that it says Gore and nothing else. Any single cover is going to say the song title, not the album.

I'd say this is about as confirmed as the title being Gore for the period when we didn't know for sure. All indications point to it being so but until we hear it from the band's management we can't say for sure.
