Anyone heard the new record yet? It's pretty awesome. Basically reminds me of You come before You and I loved that album, so I'm happy.
I want to see them live as well. Anyone know if they're coming to Europe?

They are playing in the UK this week, not sure about mainland Europe though.
Amazing album. It's not exactly better than their last, but it's still an amazing listen. The first track, Letter Thing, is probably their best track ever. Likewise, the album gets better and better after every listen.
I'll be seeing them live for the fourth time in a month or so, and plan to see them play on the Warped Tour too.

Yeah, getting better with every listen. I had this with You Come Before You as well. I know lots of fans didnt like the direction that record (and probably this one) took, but I am loving it.
I love how they mix proper brutality with such pretty melody's.
I saw them a few years ago at the Big Day Out festival here. They played opposite Metallica and they absolutly detroyed the stage. Sound wise they were perfect and even though they played to less than 100 people, they played their asses off.
I also met Derrick. I think he's left now.
I have only heard those demos that were floating around and didn't think much of them. Is the new album out proper now?
fuckin letter things is amazing i love that damn song
i haven't went through the whole album but it sounds pretty gnarly so far.

it comes out in april. i thought those demos were mediocre except for number 2 vocal edit and oceanbreast, those tracks were fucking titties
i wanna love it but i'm not diggin it as much as i wanted to, i'm hoping it grows on me with more listens
kinda dull in comparison with ycby. too bad.
the leaked demos sucked; they had no energy or vibe inside them. the final album is much different.
ive heard the four songs they put in the internet, and so far im not feelin them so much, i loved ycby though.
seriously what the fuck are you guys talking about... the album comes out on April 7th so how could you all be listening to it already? did it leak somewhere?
also, 4 songs on the internet? they've only put 2 new songs up (if you're referring to their myspace page)
yeah the whole cd leaked bouts 2 weeks ago
least thats when i got it
and ive met all of the current members and they are so fuckin nice
plus jeff loves the deftones
seein them in april again

Tell us your impressions soon :)
Went to see the band last night in Glasgow, and I've got to say I was completely surprised with how short the set was. They only played for like 30-40 minutes, and the gig finished at half 9. The venue was degraded from the 1000 capacity Garage, down to the G2 which holds around 400-500 (where they supported The Dillinger Escape Plan last time). So in some aspects that was pretty cool, a smaller, tighter venue but I'm guessing it would have been a bit of a bummer for the band. Still what we got, rocked the fuck out. Cant remember order (I'm shit with these things) so here's a list
Artists Rendering Of Me
Slice Paper Wrists
Nerdy
Botchla
Turn Down Elliot
Ghostchant
Zombies Are Good For Your Health
Crystal Lake
3 new songs, which I do not know the title of
Got to say the new songs sounded rather punky and rock n' rolly compared to the other stuff. It was hard to hear the singing that well, and you could tell Jeff was a bit pissed with that. But the crowd more than made up for it haha! Met Ryan afterwards, but didnt have the time to talk as the asshole security were shooing us out (it's like come on, it's not even reached 10 yet) so just asked if they were going to be back here, and he said some time in the fall. Which is cool! Pictures...

I'm really looking forward to 'Versions' now!
If anyone else is going to see them on the UK tour, I'd suggest catching the first band, The Ghost Of A Thousand, I thought they were awesome, despite the venue being like a quarter of an eighth full. Sort of like Refused, mixed with The Bronx, really energetic!
Also to Moz, they're playing the Melkweg in Amsterdam on March 24th, thought that would interest you.
Cheers for the photos and review mate, I'm off to see them in Manchester tomorrow night, but I'd be a bit pissed off if they play a short setlist.
Chris, we supported Ghost of a Thousand a couple of months back, they were ok but a bit cocky for me.
Looking forward to hearing the new PTW album :)

Wicked man, no For a Bandaged Iris though!
I've been out of the loop with them for a while, but what ever happened to Derek. He was my favourite. He looked so out of place within the band, but he a ninja on stage. Ryan's always cool - he was screaming at us from the stage while he was playing
PTW lost 2 members between albums including their guitarist who wrote such killer riffs for them. This is partly why their new stuff is a lot different.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I mentioned this in the all things "Core" thread...We get the PTW, FBTMOF, HHLL, the End tour in our local venue that holds max 500 with a small stage [sweet stage dives]. Im having my cousin tape it while I enjoy the set. It should be hot! and its on 4/20. Im excited, I haven't seen them since they played here in 2004 with the Bled and we made them do an encore with the lights on after half the crowd left!
PTW have insanely short shows. Maybe the vocalist can't handle more than a half hour set...
I'll be setting off to see them in a couple of hours, anyone know how good the merch is on this tour, PTW usually have some great designs.
can't wait too see them im loving the new album more and more. i just can't get it through my head how good of an opener VERSIONS has. that pre chours is fucking beefy.
i must admite that i was really excited about the 'Versions', its a good album, but i expected something like...a better version of 'You come before you'.. anyway
versions still good
highlights for me:
- The notches that create your headboard
- Slow good morning
- You will not be welcomed (my fav track)
you will not be welcomed is awesome. love that song
I think it's fucking awesome. I was a bit disapointed to begin with, but it grew on my like a fingus. I still enjoy the sound on the Leaked demo's more.
My favourites on Versions:
Pleading Post
Slow good Morning
Letter Thing
The Notches That Create Your Headboard
The First Day of My Second Life
Awesome, can't wait to buy that cd, the day after my birthday, hehe.
Opinions?

Why do you have TFTR that high up? Is it because it's old? Because it certainly can't be because of the production or diversity. IMHO it's their weakest full length by far. :)

Dude, check them out. Botchia does have a wicked awsome riff though.
For a Bandaged iris is still my favourite. Its like they have three singers....Jeffrey has a wicked range.

And Jeff's probb. my favourite vocalist. I love his screams and I would kill for his clean vocals ! And he writes the best chorus. I mean, the way he delivers them, it's out of tis world.
Sorry about the spelling...my England is yuck!!!!!
Daryl Pulumbo is still my greatest singer. Everything You Wanted to Know About Silence is STILL the ultimate breakup album...Siberian Kiss, Lovebites..., When one eight becomes..., all such wicked songs

Natural born Farmer (don't know if it'll make the record)

yeah the production sucked, but I thought it was a sweet record since it was pretty hard like the Opposite of December, yet it had a lot of great melodies to it as well; more so than ever before it. It felt like a good progression at the time when it came out since the Opposite had only been with me for a little bit. I still love it. To me, the middle 3 albums all own. The early stuff was just that, and I don't like the new record much.

Yeah man, he definitely is one of the best vocalists out there for sure!
My opinion on Versions - great! It's a bit more subtle than the other albums, but it's grown on me a lot. In my opinion, it's the slower more ballad-ic songs that grasp me more though. Like 'You Will Not Be Welcomed', 'Riverside' and 'Slow Good Morning', which are three of my favourites. It's funny as well that since buying the album, 'Letter Thing' has grown on me a hell of a lot too. This seems to happen a lot with me, the first songs I hear off of albums normally dont impress me much at first, but grow up to be my favourite songs later. This might sound stupid, but I can imagine standing in a big corn field in Mid-West America whilst listening to this, some of the songs have a wierd country/western vibe to them, it's strange but captivating. One of the strongest releases this year so far.
I'm not going to order the albums yet, as I feel that Versions still has some 'growing-time' to do.

alright, tonight is the night! PTW in a small venue, chaos to insue. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera man anymore...so there might not be any video! :(

Yeah, I love that somehow.
neutron liar, hope you had a blast.
just gave the cd a listen today and all i can say is wow. definetly one of the best albums i have heard in a very long time. the melding of country and hardcore came completly out of left field and works a hell of a lot better than you think it would. also to further the sentiment already shown in this thread "letter thing" is one of the best openrs to an album ever. that kicks your ass right off the bat immediatley, 'great southern trendkill' style
the new songs fit pretty well into their set live... I have to analyze video I got yet, but it was a good show. Requests were taken, I couldn't believe they played Turn Down Elliot!
Quote from: neutron liar on Apr 23, 2007, 02:11 PMI couldn't believe they played Turn Down Elliot!
they play that pretty much every show, it's usually the second or third song
Yo Neutron, what new songs did they play? And how long did they play for?
35-45 minutes...4 new songs... I'll have to check the video... my time is limited since im working everyday, while packing and moving this weekend.....
I hope to have video of the whole show for download in the coming weeks.
dude what happened to ptw??
theyre not what i thought they would be with this new album...
sounds totally different and i dont like it

but then again it has some cool guit riffs......

i am pretty sure the new songs they are playing are these "letter thing", "pleading post", "prematurio el baby", "naive monarch", and i think possibly "nagaina"
Goddamn ...
I was fortunate enough the find a copy of Versions a few days back. I've been listening to it constantly since. This album is just amazing. It's by far my favourite release of 07. The new sound, the new instruments, everything just adds up and equals one hell of a beautiful package of raw energy and melodic parts.
Even the bonus track kicks ass, and proves that Jeffrey is a master when it comes to creating a melodic and well delivered chorus.
Rating: 6 out of 6 lips
"wreck itself taking You with Me" is a bonus track that appears, I guess on the european release. It's def. on my copy. :)
you should post it up please.

Here, man. I found the link on the second page of this thread.
thanks...I must be blind.
They put on a good show at the Glasshouse, but I had a bad time because I dislocated my shoulder 20 seconds into the first song, Letter Thing. I spent that entire song, plus one more song, trying to get it back in my shoulder socket. Then, I go back into the show and get pushed real hard to the floor, and fracture my tail bone. while on the floor, someone steps on my face. I also spent the majority of the day talking to my ex about her current sex life with her new BF.
Really bad fucking day.
But PTW put on a really tight show, and had a lot of energy. The crowd sucked, and the setlist was fucking short, and the opening bands sucked, but PTW were good.
Shit, dude... You have my sympathy. Hope you're alright.
damn.

did you cry?
after I dislocated my shoulder, yea. I lost it.
The home depot center is huge, and outside, so it'll suck... but thats how all festivals are. I'm gonna go to it, hopefully itll be fun.
