Heard about this on the radio today. I just got excited. From the 98 KUPD Web site:
END OF SUMMER SCORCHER
The Big Red Radio Presents the "End Of Summer Scorcher", Saturday, September 20th at the Peoria Sports Complex. An all day music festical featuring 2 stages with Alice In Chains, DEFTONES, 5 Finger Death Punch, Theory Of A Deadman and more. TICKET ON-SALE THIS SATURDAY AT 11AM AT ALL VALLEY CLUB TATTOO LOCATIONS FOR ONLY $37.
It says lineup is subject to change, but I want to believe so bad ...
Maybe they'll be debuting some new stuff?
Discuss.
sounds cool, but i wouldn't pay festival prices just to see deftones, since it looks like they'll be the only band worth seeing. if anyone goes let us know if they play any new stuff and how it is
that line-up is revolting
I'd do you from behind too...
I live in AZ. I will be there if its going down.
so, is it start of a new tour or just a random show?

That's what I can't figure out. Maybe a small club tour before the holidays to whet their fans' appetites? Didn't they do something like that in 2004 to get in the mood to record after Deftones?
And I can't figure out if they'll play new songs. It's a festival thingy, so they'd be inclined to dumb down the setlist to all their singles and stuff. Or maybe they'd seize the day and blow off the fatties in wifebeaters and humor the hardcore fans that are going to pony up too much money just to see them.
So confused ...
that would be awesome if they played a new song, but they might not just based on the fact that they wouldnt want it to be heard so early before the album comes out. however.... that didnt stop them with beware & rapture, they played those 8 months before SNW came out. who knows

especially 5 finger death punch, those guys are super-fags. the singer wore his own band's shirt (five-finger death punch) when they performed in new orleans. so chookey

They'll do one new song, at least.

Generally the radio festivals aren't that expensive. I'm from AZ and I can guarentee I will be there. The last few festivals (warped and mayhem) I had VIP passes so I'll try and get some for this as well. See If I can get some video or pics from backstage. I got some sweet Mastodon pics from the stage at Mayhem so wish me luck.
However, of the 20-plus times I have seen deftones.. their worst shows occured at Festivals.. Namely the KROQ Weenie Roast in 03.
*edit - I just looked.. 42 Dollars? Forget what I said about not expensive.
42 bucks wont stop me from going. this better fucking be legit.
It's 37 balboas this weekend only at all Club Tattoo locations. Hopefully my personal day request goes through.

Abe Says...
Hey all, we're almost finished tracking our record up here at The Spot and we'll head up to Terry's studio in Seattle next month to add the final touches and begin mixing. We're all excited about how this record is taking shape, and can't wait to share it with all of you! In the meantime, we want to let our friends in the Phoenix area know that we'll be headlining KUPD's End of Summer Scorcher Sept 20th in Peoria, AZ with our good friends Alice In Chains. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, AUG 2nd at all local AZ Club Tattoo locations. They'll also be available online beginning Monday, AUG 4th via Tickets.com. Check it out at KUPD.com.

Aww Shit.
Damn it.... That better be bootlegged indeed, I'm pretty sure they'll try out some new songs....
I don't want to hear any new songs performed live. I damn near wrecked SNW for myself listening to live versions of Beware and Rapture.
yea, they played those songs 8 months early. actually, that was kinda cool of them. kinda like throwing the fans a bone for taking so long with the album
I felt the same way. I loved hearing beware live before the album came out.. It always left me even more excited for the new album.
i was lucky enough to get beware & rapture both the same night when i saw them live in march 2006, way before the album hit
Yea i got Rapture second night in Dallas on May 16th 07 it was so sick live. They need to play it more often. And Battle-Axe
wasnt rapture played at taste of choas?

shiaaatt .
i thought i was missed that .
thats ok .
Lets see if I cam remember the set list...
Hexagram
My Own Summer
Around the Fur
Beware
Hole in the Earth
Change
Passenger
Root
7 Words
Digital Bath
Headup With Max Cavalera
No new song... but it was only an hour set at a festival so I think they threw in a good mix. Chino sounded good as well...
I wrote the setlist down as they performed. First, a big fuck you to all the people that got to hear "Melanie" the past two nights. The poor folks in Arizona got no such luck. Second of all, a big fuck you to the soundboard people. Chino kept motioning that his mike was too low. Also, songs like "Beware" and "Hole In The Earth" were all distorted and fucked up. Even Chino's vocals were messed up during "Passenger." Whoever monitored the PA needs to be shot. It did them no justice.
The setlist, in order:
Hexagram
My Own Summer
Around The Fur
Beware
Hole In The Earth
Change (In The House of Flies)
Passenger
Root
7 Words
Digital Bath
Head Up (w/Max Cavalera)
They came out with the traditional setup, unlike the first show this month. Steph was on stage left, Chino in the middle, and Chi on the right. Abe had a stuffed Bengal Tiger behind his drum set. Not sure what that was about. Chino came out before their set started and kept saying, "Oh shit. Oh shit." Not sure what that was about either. They were in good form and looked genuinely excited to be playing with each other. I think Chino was pretty fucked up though. His demeanor was a little out of the ordinary. At one point, I think it was during 'Passenger,' he stuffed his mike in his pocket and kind of just walked around all dazed.

Ha he's done that most times I've seen the tones
in the break of 7 words he stopped the show to help some peeps in the crowd. wich is funny cause all the previous bands, the crowd was all into them and then deftones come on. and i tried to warn them that this is no fairy tale and its gonna get fucking nuts. and i wanna say chino felt that they were gonnna tear this crowd a new asshole cause all the other bands were not ready to take what this band had to offer(which im sure they kinds knew). minus the people who know what a deftones show is all about that were there. i just heard alot of bitching and moaning so i kinda had to take shit into my own hands and it was bomb either way. later
p.s ill post some pics.my chick had chino on her shit ;-P and i got some dope pics of abe and frank jawing like no tommorow. and some cool crowd shots...peeew
