First trailer
the dillinger escape plan, badass
looks absolutely amazing.
Fuck YEAH!
meh. i love depp and bale but i hate ganster movies.
i really do. i think the god father and scarface are grossly over rated. i can't stand any of those movies untouchables, casino, even the sospanos show. i hate that tough guy "you better respect me" attitude, so maybe thats part of it.
yeah i agree that Scarface is grossly overrated, but holy shit...
not even Goodfellas? :(
not even goodfellas
maybe we ought to sit you down and watch casino with you
i've seen it. joe pecsi is funny (even when he's not suppose to be)...thats about all i liked about it.
yeah what the hell. casino was awesome. how can you not like scorcese's movies? to each their own, though i guess
That trailer is underwhelming. Why would they shoot a period piece with digital?
I was thinking the exact same thing.
Way of the future I guess...
-Mike
god dammit, i really hate when movies i'm really looking forward to are shot digitally. it ruins the whole fucking movie for me. it's like watching a goddamn home movie or something. everything looks so flat and compressed. all those "geniuses" in hollywood still have not figured out how to top an organic medium developed over a century ago. tards.
have you seen inland empire? shot entirely with digital. i love the look and feel of that movie.
yeah I don't mind digital. I know it could effect the look of a movie, especially one that takes place almost a century ago, but this thing is good hands. Mann's movies are always pretty good (with the exception of the atrocious Miami Vice)
It's going to be interesting. All of big directors are saying that they are only going to shoot digital from now on, so maybe everyone just needs adequate time to get adapted to the new format.
Public Enemies does look pretty rad.

yes, and it really irked me, though i realize INLAND EMPIRE was more of a psychological/emtional/subconscious study where extremely long takes and little pre-production prep was taking place. so i give Lynch more credit because he was using digital as a tool rather than as the new cool process.

the dillinger escape plan, badass
+1
just read it on the newspaper today... cool!
it's shown today, right?
surprisingly, this has been getting some mediocre reviews. but the fact that it's still Mann, Depp, Bale, Marion Cotillard(fucking gorgeous), and Billy Crudup as J Edgar Hoover has me craving this. it's GOTTA be at least above average, right?
plus, I was dragged to Transformers 2 last week, so I need something fast to get the shitty aftertaste of that so-called "movie" out of my mouth.
yeah i wanna see this.. NOW
i heard this movie drags, and builds up to nothing.. really dissapointed
dude, it does drag. i hate ever doing it, - but i walked out of this movie.. it was fucking laaame
why would you walk out of a movie that you paid for? That's basically you being owned, not you owning the film.
yeah man for real. transformers 1 and 2 both blew ass, but i stuck threw it (somehow).
and i remember wanting to walk out of the Fog remake after 3 minutes because fall out boy started playing after the opening scene. you pay $10, you gotta stay the whole time.
I went to the movie yesterday...and yea wither you probably should have stayed because the first 30 minutes drags but soon after the narrative comes more into focus and the characters become more developed.
My biggest problem with the film were just all the similarities to Heat. Besides that, I liked the theme of glorified legends who do terrible things VS. less-heralded and somewhat brutal people trying to do good things.

because, it sucked and i actually stayed for just over an hour into the movie, and it still sucked. it was a midnight showing too, so me and my friend rachel decided it was best to leave due to the movie sucking. do i really need to explain myself . im sooo tired of shitty movies....
and i def felt embarassed for christian bale! wowwwww he sucks. american psycho and the machinist were awesome but he just sucks at his over glorified job... and i felt bad for depp too. this movie looks like it was throw n together in 2 months. sad really

lol @ Fog remake
I'm so split on seeing this with all of the mixed reviews. Good actors but poor roles?
While I strongly, abhorrently disagree with your statement about the film looking like it was thrown together...I will respect your opinion and know how someone could detest the film.

the movie isn't that good, to say the least. My advice, go watch "Moon", great film.
I thought this movie was gonna be good..but you guys are saying it sucks. Still, I'm going to give it a chance.

Can't fucking wait to see Moon!
this sunday i m gonna watch, my friend said dont miss that one
sam rockwell gives a stellar performance.
moon is pretty badass. Duncan Jones is going places. i will definitely keep my eye out for him in the future.
oh, yeah, sam rockwell was phenomenal.

I couldn't agree more that bale is ridiculously over rated. I have no idea how he got so big in the first place. Batman I guess. He does have those couple good movies like you said. But he just walked into natural roles I guess. As far as being an actual good actor , fuck no. Every time I see that he is in a film it makes me not want to see it.
Not a good actor?
American Psycho, The Machinist, Rescue Dawn.
Watch those movies and tell me he's not a great actor.
Can't believe he's lost all the weight again for that upcoming movie.
Yeah it's crazy. He truly looks like a crack-head.
can't be healthy.
you forgot 3:10 to yuma. I at least thought he was good in that.
I think the problem with Public Enemies was he just wasn't the best candidate for that role. It just seemed like that role needed someone a little less handsome, more weird guy.

we have watched those. but to be a good actor you MUST be able to "perfect" any role. and he obviously can't. he sucks at what he's doing these days. he can only pull certain parts because he's a juiced-out numbskull. look at his brow, the roids have warped his cranium, he looks like a fuck tard and acts like one too
Harsh.
You gotta sit down and watch The Prestige and Equilibrium. Both are very satisfying movies, dude.

But ironically, don't bother with Harsh Times. easily the worst thing Bale has done.
Really? I thought he was awesome in Harsh Times. Intense performance.
wither-I: Agree to disagree. I think he's one of the best actors working today and I haven't seen him in anything where he did bad.
He was pretty bad in Terminator Salvation...but that's not his fault, that's the writer's.
Heh, haven't seen that one yet :)
don't see that movie.
Great movie, very stylish crime drama. Great Dillenger story.
meh i dunno, it seems good...im just worried its gonna have too much "love story" involved and stuff...
it all seems marketed to be Depp's "oscar role" or something..i think i'll wait for the DVD actually
