Chino calling that dude an asshole had me thinking: what are the most insane moments at a Deftones show? U-Fest and Waldrock are the two big ones. Chino pwning a bunch of lame Kiss fans was also hilarious. What are some other great moments?
Cool thread Inkblades. I've been to 13 shows and I honestly cant remember anything too out of the ordinary. but in oklahoma chino came down in the crowd to sing hexagram like he always does and i was in the front row. He accidently drilled me in the face with the mic when he was standing on the guard rail. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. After he finished singing the song he gave me a high five and said my bad. I just smiled and said all good. At the time I thought It was the coolest thing ever haha. I had a black eye for like 2 days. Not quite an insane moment tho.

I've been to just a couple of deftones shows but nothing too crazy has happened.
But, one time after a show in Houston..we got to meet the band members (after buying their album again for $20). I was on the phone with my then girlfriend at the time, when it was my turn to meet Chino and the boys I didn't get off the phone, shook Chino's hand and whatnot and he got irked or something because after I passed him up he's like "Man, who you on the phone with?", and told him it was my girl and asked if he wanted to talk to her and he did for a few seconds before he got mobbed by more fans.
She got me back like a few weeks later when they went to NY and I got to talk to Stef on the phone for a minute or two..pure freshness.
Nothing unusual happened in both shows I saw. But I have some funny moments I always remember:
- Chino's pants going down to his knees in that show in 98 (Netherlands i think). I laughed a lot the first time I watched the video.
- During Pinkpop 2006 when Chino came to sing Around the fur in the crowd and this guy in the audience stole his hat. Chino was so smashed that he said: You disgusting little boy! And suddenly his hat appeared. Lol.

Waldrock was the most insane deftones moment for me too. I met the guys from deftones backstage that day. It was was mostly Mike Patton's fault that Chino was so fucked up. He challenged Chino for a drink contest with Whiskey. Patton was faking, Chino was really drinkin' the whiskey. Than that whole accident with the security happened and Chino was 'gone'. lol.
It was a very very bad deftones show (thanks to Chino/Mike Patton). During the show I was bumbed, but now it has been a legendary moment.

Haha same here. At that time I was waiting all day for them to play so when they came on way too late with a roadie guiding Chino to the middle of the stage I knew it was gonna be pretty bad. I remember all the sand which was thrown to Chino and all the booo-ing going on. It was legendary... If not THE most legendary Deftones show ever?

I saw the Deftones in dallas in 2006 with Korn. Once you heard the entrance music for their set, like 80 people busted through security to get the the pit, it was intense!!!
Then there was a chick fight and this one girl got fucked up! It was pretty awesome, I loved that show!

Seeing the Tones at Nitas Hideaway in Tempe, AZ May 2003. Only like 300-500 fans inside. It was a fan club only show!
I have been to 8+ Tones shows, and NEVER experienced a crowd rush like in that little venue. My wife and I almost got crushed!
There were many crazy moments at Bizarre 98 besides chino throwing punches.
my personal fav is Edge Fest 99. Chino was drunk off his ass. At the end of the show he was like "We're weezer, thanks for coming" And earlier was like "I see the fucker with the lazer pointer, try to get my eye. Oh? Your battery died??" XD

back in 2003, during their gorilla tour that preceded the self-titled albums release, a friend and I drove to arizona to see the, they invited some guy from the crowd up on stage to sing head up with them (at least I think it was head up) and maybe thirty seconds into the song the guy puked all over the stage and Chi's mic. fucking hilarious, though my friend and I felt kind of bad for chi; they still had an hours worth of show left and chi had to sing into the puke mic.
not that show, some nervous kid got on the stage then.
That reminds when I saw them in 06, Chino had a little kid come on stage and rap during a song. XD

at a show at the captial ballroom in dc some one slipped a joint into chinos shirt pocket. he got on stage and said " last time i came here i lost a shoe, this time i got a joint. i dont really smoke but ima smoke this right now. " then smoked it while singing mascara. not super insane but funny anyway.
Guess mine would have to be the day after my wedding my wife and I saw deftones in 97 right after ATF came out. Chino says "anyone know the words to this song come up here". I was on stage with the deftones for two songs - Subliminal and South of Heaven I think? It was Slayer, but I'm not a fan of them so I don't know the songs that well.
It was the best show ever because the show was:

Deftones
Grady and Jonah came out and sang with the deftones several times.
I got a piece of Chinos shirt that tore off when he jumped on top of us against the stage, guitar picks from Stef and a signed setlist and hat by the band. After the show they let me hang around and I got to pull my wife up on stage and we both got to go back stage and hang out with the band for a little while.
Hows that for insane? Funny thing was about a year later a video popped up and we found the guy who taped the show. He sent me a copy and I still have it! You can see me on stage rocking out with Stef..haha.

This is the same show that AZDEFTONESFAN was talking about.. I was also at that show.. that shit was funny.. I think Chino even used the guys own jacket to cover it up..
I was right next to him and he was getting super smashed up front and Chino stopped the show and said."Yo!! This guy is turning green up here lets get him up!!" So chino pulled him onstage and asked him if he was alright and if he wanted to finish head up with them.. as soon as it started the dude just started puking everywhere!!
I have literally seen deftones play over 20 times, all in the Phoenix & LA areas, so I have seen some awesome and some funny ass shows.. if anyone was at the KROQ Weenie Roast in 03 in Los Angeles, Chino was so fucking drunk he passed out and face planted in the middle of My Own Summer and just started mumbling into the mic..
