Frankly, I like Deftones because they're unique. :) I do like Incubus, but I think they're quite different.

nobody said they had to be as good or even better...
Will Haven don't sound similar to Deftones, they're far more sludge-influenced.
You could've added Emmanuel and Devil Sold His Soul
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch...........
End of thread.

I don't think incubus at all but for some reason they get lumped together a lot.

I checked out relative ash and have to agree with most of you guys. I changed the poll to reflect this. It is a shame that these guys only put out one album.
To me, a band sounds like Deftones when the lead singer has the same type of voice as Chino's. So Silent (http://www.myspace.com/silent.music) wins. Great album.
ugh relative ash blows. But yeah they sound the most like deftones. My favorite band on that list is Glassjaw though. Easily.....

let there be no confusion - just because a band steals a cool sound doesnt make the band ore the music good. the lack of good songs still makes a band shitty

I didn't want to sound rude, but since you said it, I must confess I agree. It seems to me they TRY to sound like Deftones, but they can't...
how about Major Label??!?!

They actually started out as a deftones cover band ha...
Far.
I don't think any band is really similar to the Deftones, which is probably why I like them so much. I mean, there's no one that really effectively combines Post-Hardcore (Helmet, Quicskand, etc.), Rap (RATM, Suicidal Tendencies, etc.), Progressive (Tool, Meshuggah, etc.), Space (Smashing Pumpkins, Failure, etc.), Emo (Far, Jawbox, etc.), Goth/Shoe-Gaze (The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, etc.), and Electronic (Depeche Mode, NIN, etc.) influenced Rock the way they do.
But if you're a fan of good music, then you might also like all the bands I've listed plus some of their modern brethren:
Glassjaw
Dredg
Poison The Well
Denali
Oceansize
Far-Less
Finch
Jairus
[minus]
Moving Mountains
Swift
The Postman Syndrome/Biclops/East of the Wall/Day Without Dawn

There was a band called blind side that I remember sounding some what like the TONES. For sure not as good. Truth is no band is a carbon copy. Which is why Deftones are the best. ;D
