Title: Converting old Deftones VHS tapes to DVD...
Post by: slyartwork on May 14, 2010, 12:47 PM
Yo Kids,

I bought a cable to convert VHS tapes to DVD. This is kinda cool since I have a lot of Deftones footage recorded from TV from 1997 til 2001.

In probably 2001 I made a VHS copy by connecting two VHS VCR recorders to eachother and I've send Nuno that tape. A lot of this material which is floating around like the TMF special, Lola da Musica and much more is from that tape...

... but... now I can re-convert all footage directly to DVD. This is awesome! I will upload a lot in Youtube. Maybe trade later.

Just wanted to let you know. Footage looks much better this way.

HERE'S ALL THE FOOTAGE I DID SO FAR:

This is my first rip;
One of my favorite performances of this song, Stef is going apeshit, especially in the end.

I have this VHS tape of them performing. Chinos wearing a no smoking shirt. Its really really old. All i remember from the tape is that Chino body surfs and he asks people to take him to the bar hahaha. I want to say that its from their Adrenaline tour? I could be wrong. It was taped from someone in the crowd.

Sly never got any credits for all these stuff. Unfortunately, only now people know where all these footage came from, he has all the masters.
Almost all dutch stuff - pre-white pony - came straight from him. While I traded stuff back in 2000 and 2001, I traded some of his stuff, I don't remember of sending anything back to him.  Sly just sent me those, like a gift, and since then I have huge respect for Sly. If I had to name the BIGGEST Deftones fan in the world I would say Sly, he's been here since the beginning. So propz for that man.

Sly, Dutch Deftones, old skool layout Deftonesworld, that wickedland page.. All that shit reminds me of when I was first discovering this band and using the internet to do it. Good times man. Seems like a different band, if you get what I mean.

Chino named me 'The oldest deftones fan' during the Waldrock show which was great cuz he even rememberd me being so wasted!

I haven't met the band since 2003. My wish was just to hang out with them for a little while again and thank them for being there for all these years. When they were not that big yet, they knew who I was, no they meet a lot of people every day so it's a total different situation.

Thats funny that in amsterdam they broadcast letterman on fox. btw I need dvd quality of that pinkpop from you. the quality looks so much better than any version i have. this is one of my favorite shows to watch. I bought a vhs of this off of ebay like in 99 and wore the tape out, and it did not look half as good as the youtube version you upped.

Cool, everybody wants to trade now which is cool. First I need to rip and upload it all. After that I will contact everybody for trading.

It's inspiring someone other than me and a few others are pulling out old vhs tapes to share. and nintendo xo i would love to see your maritime show, i've always heard there was another almost same angle of this show but i have never seen it. Nice to hear about this 14 year old tape.
Title: Re: Converting old Deftones VHS tapes to DVD...
Post by: slyartwork on May 15, 2010, 08:49 AM
I like it because it's not a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy...

You mean, another angle of the Pinkpop 1998 show? I remember having seen something of it. You ever seen Mascara of that show? That song was not broadcasted with the other material but they just played that one evening on tv here. I just happened to have a tape in the recorder to tape it.

EDIT: I just saw you meant the maritime show... sorry

I know what you mean about a copy of a copy. i've torrented probably 12 shows (probably more) in the past couple of years they have all been 1st gen or master copies, thats just what i'd like to see best version available.

Nice! Well done man. Good to see you on here more too.
Haha amazing, I remember vividly sitting by the VCR taping the TMF special and that Rock Werchter stuff from MTV...haha ´Romeo..wazzup?...this is Romeo...´

I also remember haunting MTV for that three minute bit in 2003, shot in Rotterdam. Really small interview with Chino. Only saw it once when I didn´t have my trusty tape in the machine. I´ve been looking for that for years. Then quit looking.

Man, that's fucking stupid. Why would you want to reupload something that was already uploaded in a better quality in your channel??? If you want to share deftones love just put it as a favourite and people will check it, otherwise you're being an internet-attention-whore.
Title: Re: Converting old Deftones VHS tapes to DVD...
Post by: slyartwork on May 19, 2010, 10:22 AM
Why? Because it looks and sounds better? Man, I don't care about attention at all. Only thing I care about is Deftones.

Enough about this crap. Pulkasone has some nice videos. Let's respect one and another. End of story and I'll upload more in a better quality later.

Cheers.

edit: I understand you now mr Argentinia. I don't understand re-uploading something from someone (stealing) eighter but it happens.
