BLACK SWAN - Official HD trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jaI1XOB-bs#ws)
:o Holy fucking shitballs. This looks intense and fucked up.
this looks awesome! mostly because of the sex scene between Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman, obviously.
The trailer reminded me of Mulholland Drive (eg. two female leads, sex scene, rivalry, surreal dream-like atmosphere).
Can't wait to see this!
yeah, absolutely. I had no idea what this movie was going to be about, but I'm now intrigued to say the least.
another clint mansell score!!!!!
I heard Aronofsky uses a lot of scenes straight from the anime-film "Perfect Blue", which is a really good flick in it's own right. He bought the rights to it a long time ago...guess he is finally using at least some of it for inspiration. Pretty much all of Satoshi Kon's films are being made into live-action films...I know they are working on getting Paprika made as well.

Damn I was thinking the exact same things. Looks very Lynch-like, and seeing Mansell's name on the poster instantly makes me interested in this project (even though he only deals with the music).
I WANT
It will be interesting to see how Mila does in a drama. Hopefully she kills it.
I hope it's not a pretentious piece of shit like The Fontain was. But Aranofsky redeemed himself with The Wrestler so i'm interested either way.
The Fountain was amazing.
Soundtrack is my favorite of all time, but I prefer good character development and real emotion over some striking visual scenes.
For me, it had a lot more to offer than the visual aspect. It moved me on several levels.
Ah well, to each his own.
looks crazy as shit
wanna see, the trailer caught my intrest
Pretty interesting:
"According to a recent interview with Aronofsky, The Wrestler and Black Swan actually began as a single movie before splitting into separate entities."Aronofsky:
Quote"At one point, way before I made 'The Wrestler,' I was actually developing a project that was about a love affair between a ballet dancer and a wrestler, and then it kind of split off into two movies," he said. "I realized pretty quickly that taking two worlds like wrestling and ballet was much too much for one movie."
Quote"I've always considered the two films companion pieces," he said. "They are really connected and people will see the connections. It's funny, because wrestling some consider the lowest art — if they would even call it art — and ballet some people consider the highest art. But what was amazing to me was how similar the performers in both of these worlds are. They both make incredible use of their bodies to express themselves." [I tried to convince the judge that was art!] "So I guess my dream is that some art theater will play the films as a double feature some day."

HOLY SHIT, this sounds incredible.
wow, i REALLY want to see this asap. i wonder if it can challenge Inception for my pick of film of the year?
It looks as though it will outdo Inception for me. I love everything he does, to be fair.

i think it'll definitely outdo inception. i am with brian on this, i really hope kunis does well. she has potential but i've never seen it pushed.
and cassel. well, it's fucking cassel. he's just top notch.
also i've never thought much of natalie portman although i'm trying. i liked her in paris, je t'aime and that was it.
The trailer does look great, but I don't want to fall for the hype just yet. I'm a fan of Aronofsky and he has made some brilliant films, but I don't want to be lead into disappointment if this film ends up being over hyped.
pi was amazing and so was the wrestler, but requiem for a dream was such a shit film. i was talking about aronofsky with my lecturer because i was talking about black swan (when we should've been talking about my paper haha) and he said the same thing you said, heaven.

donie darko is a butt pile of ass poop. behold my valid, relevant and well thought out argument! i like the part about poo. win!
but seriously, donnie darko is crap.
Donnie darko is an awesome film. Richard Kelly is a brilliant writer and director.
Black swan was frightenly beautiful and twisted.
Black Swan was Nuts, very good movie
I want to see this soooooooo much
debating whether to torrent or drive forever to see in theatres
See it in the theater
This is a really, really good film -- best film that has come out of Hollywood this year....so far. I have extremely high expectations for True Grit.
i have to wait til the 20th of january. poo!
i just watched it....
it was pretty awesome...there were some questionable events that they didnt answer it, but very nice..
when you come to the final, it just ends..thats the sad part..
the worst thing about the movie is that you ll know the story (not the metaphor) is kinda cliche..
a very good movie
but dont expect something better than inception

dear god, this movie was great! I actually liked the ending and thought the writing was spectacular. Aronofsky's on a roll.
But yeah, I think Inception is the best flick this year. Honestly, one of my favorites of the last few years.
i haven't watched it yet but the final scene sounds a bit like how the wrestler ended.
shoot! i haven't seen inception yet. the only cillian movie i haven't seen yet.
when i say ''the ending part'' i wasnt mean the final act...i mean it just ends there..
i would like to see some more after...
i agree that it was missing a few things, but the ending was the best part!
I'm seeing it tomorrow in a back-to-back with True Grit. Should be a good doubleheader.
Watched it 4 times already. Not even a tiny bit tired of it.
Incredible, incredible movie.
haha, damn. are you beginning to make your metamorphosis into the black swan?
Actually, my back has been particularly itchy lately.
Hmm...
It's a really good movie but it didn't come close to blowing me away or anything. Maybe I just don't get what people like. Everyone is creaming their pants over it. I really enjoyed the film and it was done beautifully but I don't know. It didn't really wow me. I'd give it a 7.9999. Close to an 8 but not quite. Maybe I'm just mad at the movie for it introducing Natalie Portman to the man who would kill my dreams and knock her up.
i agree it was not perfect, but i think people are crazy for it because there's not a whole lot else out there to get excited about.
This was Aronofsky's most theatrical film, and it was beautifully done. However, when I go over that film in my head it's not the plot that I remember but rather Portman's performance. It carried the film from beginning to end. I can't really imagine anyone else playing Nina. It was perfect. I consider Portman's performance to be one of my favorites of all time--that's how much she shook me. I can understand people not being totally in love with the film, but with Portman how can you not be in love with this film?
i saw the trailer for black swan when i went to watch i'm still here and made a vow to watch it when it came out because, fuck, a ballerina losing her mind seemed like something that would be incredible to watch. so i just watched it tonight with a friend. as a person who doesn't like natalie portman whatsoever, i think she did an amazing job. that constant 'if you're not perfect, you're a failure' thing totally got at me. this movie has pretty much cemented her career. moving on, i think it dealt brilliantly with not just focusing on your borderline ballet dancers with their eating disorders, mummy issues and self-loathing. when she goes batshit crazy...wow. it's more than the art wank i thought it was going to be. it was monstrous and really fucking beautiful. aronofsky put me inside her mind.
that said, i didn't think it was as good as the wrestler hahaha rourke had me crying like a filthy little baby. man, he deserved that fucking oscar. this is the only time i'm going to hate on sean penn, but sean penn - fuck you!
what?? sean penn as harvey milk was epic!

Totally - she was truly brilliant in this. I loved the film - everyone was ace in it, the cinematography was ace, the story was ace, Vince Cassel was in it - ace. Vinces character reminded me of Olivier from Six Feet Under...theres something really rewarding about watching someone effectively drawing a person out of themselves.

true, he was good, but the rourke!! he reached perfection in the wrestler.

yes, i agree. i love penn. he's fantastic, but rourke killed it! he was perfect. penn's already got an oscar, which i know sounds like i'm whinging but i am whinging over a legit reason here. i'm only sorry that aronofsky didn't make rourke's character a gay wrestler. would've totally got it then.
They should really sling a couple of bucks towards Jake Roberts for being the unofficial inspiration for the Wrestler - hell they even toned it down for the tragic madman. On second thoughts he'd just spend it on crack most likely. But anyway check out Beyond the Mat - I love expose-type stuff. The hidden world of wrestling is fucking nuts.
I saw it this afternoon after coming from work.Crazy movie. It was pretty good I will give it a solid 9
Good movie, I was afraid Aranofsky would make another arty farty shitfest like The Fountain but it seems that he has redeemed himself.
Screw you, The Fountain is amazing.

I finally watched the Black Swan. What an immerse movie. Natalie Portman did a great job with the acting, and the supporting actors did a memorable performance as well. I lost myself at the part where she actually becomes the black swan, up to the ending. So Aranofsky-ish somehow. Bravo!
the fountain is in my top 10 of all time.

I liked this movie but didn't quite love it. The third act was just a little too melodramatic and over the top for me. Portman is great in it though and fully deserves all the praise she received for the role.
Haha, definitely! I might edit in some thought bubbles showing him daydreaming about weed.
Honestly I think this movie is seriously fucking overrated. I don't know what was so spectacular about...besides Natalie Portman touching herself lol.

The Fountain was pretty bad. However I am sympathetic towards Aronofsky after reading how many roadblocks he had to go through to make this. If I were him, I wouldn't have made it at all.

Same here. It's apparent Natalie Portman put her heart and soul in this film. At the same time, the public should remain realistic about the dancing in the film. I don't know who's speaking truthfully. Aronofsky and her fiance have both stated the majority of the film is Natalie, but would Aronofsky really destroy that illusion that the film was solely based on Natalie's hard work ethic and dedication to the role? Obviously her fiance is going to say nothing but good things about his future wife. And Sarah Lane could easily be bitter about the way the film was edited. Either way, it brought
Black Swan back into the public eye, and just in time for its DVD release. Gotta love Hollywood!
it's funny how it came full circle with the dvd release. i don't believe for a second that it was all natalie portman. aronofsky and her fiance can talk till the cows come home but the fact is, none of us were there to see her perform the dance moves and all the papers that are now covering this story are talking to natalie's people (aronofsky, her fiance, kunis etc). why not talk to the other dancers that were there. i'm just extremely annoyed that i was duped to believe that portman did the majority of the dancing when the fact now is she maybe didn't.
she did brilliantly in this film. i'm not denying that. they could've just said, you know, she did like 65%-70% of the dancing. you have portman saying she did 95% of the dancing and lane did 5% and lane saying the exact opposite; that she did 95% and portman did 5%. we're never going to get to the bottom of this hahaha
I'll believe Aronofsky over some bitch who's whining about the fact that she isn't the one who's getting the attention.

it's a movie about ballet. you have to celebrate the actual ballerina's involved, not cheat them out of the credit they deserve. the fact is, they made natalie portman out to be someone who learned ballet in a year and a half and someone who did all the hard stuff. she didn't.
Quote“Here is the reality. I had my editor count shots. There are 139 dance shots in the film. 111 are Natalie Portman untouched. 28 are her dance double Sarah Lane. If you do the math that’s 80% Natalie Portman. What about duration? The shots that feature the double are wide shots and rarely play for longer than one second. There are two complicated longer dance sequences that we used face replacement. Even so, if we were judging by time over 90% would be Natalie Portman.
And to be clear Natalie did dance on pointe in pointe shoes. If you look at the final shot of the opening prologue, which lasts 85 seconds, and was danced completely by Natalie, she exits the scene on pointe. That is completely her without any digital magic."
- Darren Aronofsky
In my eyes, the parties involved all have a motive to lie or embellish the truth so believing one side over the other is futile. I agree with blixa and the fact Sarah Lane's credit wasn't due--she was credited as a "Hand model" for God's sake. I'd be upset about it, too if I put a lot into the dancing to make the film authentic only to get credit as a hand model. Even if the majority of the film is Natalie, I'm pretty sure Lane put in as much work and time as Natalie did even if it didn't make it into the film. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, though. Lane got the short end of the stick. It's not surprising, but it is disappointing. Either way, Black Swan is going to fly off the shelves just so the public can judge for themselves.
who cares?

of course he's going to say that. come on! they're all going to get precious about her doing all of it. the thing is, they told lane to shut up until after the oscars. that shows a real disrespect towards someone who did all the difficult work that portman was not able to do.
well I'm siding with Padme. She can do no wrong.
