After the quiet part build up, instead of the chorus.
The first time I listened to the song in that part I was like "whoa!, something big is coming!" but then "meh... its just the chorus once again". Twas kind of disappointing and to this day I still feel like somethings missing there.
Interesting thought. In my opinion 976-EVIL is one of the best most powerfully emotional tracks the band has ever recorded.
If it ain't broke.
On the other hand I think Korea could use an accordion solo at the bridge....
everyone has his own humble opinion but leave it as it is
Entire Diamond Eyes album is missing that extra something.

Arguably.

I really miss Chi's playing.I miss those nice fat basslines of his.I was listening to Pink Maggit last night and when Chi's bass kicked in, I realised it's just not quite the same without him.
Having said that I still love Diamond Eyes (there isn't a Deftones album that I haven't yet) .
I personally don't think it's their best or even one of their best (for me that title goes to ATF and ST), although it is, alongside White Pony one of their most commercially accessible - which I think they needed at the time, so I'm happy for them and can't complain.
It just doesn't have that raw emotion and the little imperfections that make it so perfect that my 2 favourite albums do.
By the way the day Stef starts playing 'Slash' style solo's will be the day I break down and weep uncontrollably.

IMO diamond eyes is a very "to the point" album, and doesn't need to be over elaborated. I do get what you mean, but it is what it is.
No :)
to get back the original point. I dont think any deftones song should have a guitar solo. there not a glammy band like that
i've always thought they should do a few solos, don't over do it, but just 1 every so often so there isn't barriers, and for something different from them, but it'll never happen so whatever

Wanting Stephen to play solos in Deftones songs is like wanting Dave Mustaine to sing in rap/metal style in Megadeath songs. Barriers are probably good in both cases
I think 976-EVIL is incredibly boring.
By that, I mean boring in a really good way. It's a great song.
guitar solos are hogwash for the most part. It doesnt take all that much skill or artistic integrity to rip some fast notes in the pentatonic, which seems to be wayy to rampant in modern heavy rock. I do enjoy Billy Corgan's solos on Siamese Dream though, but thats kind of a more shoegazy feel

Even Korn - Issues murders s/t. No achievement.

??? I'm not so sure about what Korn has to do with anything in this thread to begin with, but that statement can't be from a deftones fan

I believe this for sure. It is good, but sorta in it's own other world from the others and the biggest difference IS a new head with different vision and style to blend with the rest of Deftones. It is said to be more positive than the rest and Cheng's accident set that mood for them to be positive. Right on man.
