Yes "BEST DEFTONES VIDEO" 3 Votes only please. 8)
Sorry if the Question was not Clear...
DBath, Hex, Minerva. Idk.... Digital Bath is the only one I really like.
Digital Bath, Hexagram, Minerva. 8)
"uggh" ? don't try to affect the voters! ;)
i think ytsb is the best one yet, followed by the adrenaline videos - those are the ones i can watch with a happy face.but i gotta say - deftones as a band has little to do with a video. yes, they are in them, but thats about it- they do what they are told to do more or less. The idea of the video, the work, the directing and the filming is someone else's job and final product.
to rate the videos are more a match between directors i think. i mean deftones writes music and performs live. that's what they do and should be judged by. these videos are very much the record companies way to advertise the band.so it's more a matter of if the advertisers have done a good job or not. when I see deftones play on tv, I'm not going "oh deftones play music for me!" it's more of "here's a company trying to sell me a product". are these products good or not? pick your vote
DBath, Hex, Change
i thought hexagram was a pretty mediocre video, i'm not gettin the craze about it. more of that SL s/t obsession. i did like the minerva and bloody cape videos alot though. hexagram not so much
Hexagram is the best example of how wild they could go live at that time. Yeah, you gotta love S/T to death to get it.

? if someone likes a video from s/t and you don't, that's "obsession" in a negative way.
but if someone likes a video from s/t and you do too, it's no longer "obsession", that's just ok with you.
i thought 03 was when they started slippin live. less effort and energy. the start of the 6 year cloud over their heads, the darks days. i didn't much enjoy the 2003 they had. i think Chino had a bit of writers block on s/t. maybe cause the record company screwed his head up trying to get him to write hits, making him go somewhat blank.i like s/t and snw alot but i'm not super proud of them like the first 3 and DE.

obsession is the massive cult following this board has for the s/t album. it's just way out of the norm. like they all came here together for that purpose/common ground. i know they didn't but it's just odd, it's not a real high point for most deftones fans worldwide. it's still good, just a huge disappointment to most

ok, but I had problems with your line of reasoning, had really no question about if you like s/t or not. its ok for people to like a video from st if you like it, but if you dont, they are obsessed. thats just weird
Change - first video i saw. and i can watch still this again and again.
Digital Bath - great scenes from tour, great montage.
Hexagram - like V said: "is the best example of how wild they could go live at that time"
and if i can choose one more that will be YSTB :)

but those are your words, not mine. don't speak for me. and obsession probably isn't a great choice of words, but there's definitely a way larger than normal group of s/t diehards here. seems like there's about 30 qeople here who share the exact same opinions almost everytime, the s/t cult
hite and mein, double squadoosh. lol

still.... you said nothing about sl obsession when you talked about minerva and bloody cape because you like 'em videos, but as soon as it was a video you didn't like (hexagram) you talked patronizing about it. but it's ok, i know your type, will never admit you're wrong no matter how obvious it is :)

that's because the SL obsession doesn't just revolve around 1 video, and that's obviously not what i was basing the obsession on. the obsession is a whole. i figured you could comprehend that
fine, be that way ;)
it's fun how everybody seem to think the mein-video is a joke. jonathan davis from korn said he was ashamed of the song "all in the family" after some time has passed (yeah, yeah he should be ashamed of all their songs), and perhaps it's time for the deftones to say that the mein was dumb. not if they still think it's great, but really, for how long can they sit in interviews with a straight face and talk seriously about this video, like it's a video like any other? chino boy band dancing in it. COME ON
Quote from: Hidalgo on Dec 09, 2010, 12:28 PM
i like s/t and snw alot but i'm not super proud of them like the first 3 and DE.
also fine, but s/t and snw are two completely different albums.
They wrongly get lumped together sometimes just because there was trouble in the band during those times.
"dark times bla bla" fine - but when you put them on, so far from each other musically.
Hexagram because it's the only time i like it when the band plays in one of their videos. It just makes sense. "Deftones! Deftones! Deftones!" And the crowd went wild.
Back to School because it's pretty cheesy, but somehow has a very 2000-ish atmosphere.
I have always felt "Back to School" was underrated....Cool vibe to me 8)
Minerva is a total beauty.. like a dream in the desert where sand fills your eyes and Deftones fills your ears! rock itttt!
hexagram is untouchable. best deftones video hands down. you forgot to put bloody cape on the list but that video is a steaming pile of doo doo turds.
hexagram really isn't that great a video, nothing happens but them playing with some "shaky" camera parts, an Chino looks dumb in that pink shirt. no real iconic or beautiful memorable shots. it's all very random with 0 creativity. bloody cape is alot better
hite and mein still with the double squadoosh, haha. they deserve what they're getting
so bloody cape isn't very random? the fuck dude
it's got certain memorable images at least, and a bit of a story line. everyone checks out the same hot chick, it's actually well done
Quote from: Hidalgo on Dec 10, 2010, 05:12 PM

well if it's so memorable how come it got left off of this list? also hexagram is just such a high energy performance and shoot me, but i like performance videos. at least the bands aren't getting up their own ass too much and it's just the purest representation of a song. bloody cape just bores me to death. they all see some hot chick with a dog. that's it, that's all. the performance parts of the video save it. other than that i couldn't give less of a fuck. i know nobody will agree with me on this but i'd even take mein over the bloody cape video but at least i'd take bloody cape over the diamond eyes or sextape videos any day. just my opinion.
it's cool essay
Street Carp and Be Quiet and Drive; the only two i can actually sit and watch and thoroughly believe they're actually having fun shooting the video.
Then 7 Words because of Chino's dreads.
looks like i'm in agreement with most here. Hexagram, Digital Bath, and YSTB all the fucking way
first vote to hite YEAH!!
Street carp, by far. That's deftones image in my mind. Oh, that and minerva.
Hate I omitted "Street Carp" one of my faves!!
Did not note it as Official at deftones.com
Looking at the Poll Results so far indicate that Deftones have not made a "good" video since 2003.
But one great one in 2010.
Yes I have a MENSA card. 8)
I really dont see whats so great about YSTB. Its not original by any means. At least 5 other bands have done a video with raining blood and countless more with hot girls surrounding them. YSTB is just combining them. I know the woman are there because the song is sex based, but the blood just doesnt fit.
Be quiet and drive
Street carp
bloody cape

I agree with you and I think most people here do.
but, imagine that a band would make a video when they rock/play on ice blocks among a lot of sharks, like in my own summer, don't think you or anyone else here still would say "a good video is a good video" .hell no, we would scream "rip off!" and "not original!" and so on.
We think a good video is a good video as long deftones steal an idea but it's disastrous if a band would steal deftones idea =D
definitly the "best" video is change.
though i wont trade bqad not even for gold.
I have to get a train to my gf's house and it goes over a bridge that looks like the set of bqad. I think that why its my favourite video.

i concur.
So it looks like the overall favorites in order are:
1. You've Seen the Butcher
2. Digital Bath
3. Change
4. Hexagram
I gotta admit I am surprised to see so much "love" for Digital Bath.
yea that one's a suprise to me too

digital bath is the best imo, dont know how somebody can not like it. it fits the mood of the song PERFECTLY. plus chino in those goggles cracks me up evey time for some reason
I wonder... why street carp not belong to b sides and rarities dvd. Not official?
Hmmm, why would street carp be on b-sides and rarities, it is a track on WP, Deftones most acclaimed release to date.
I would love to see deftones release a studio version of Bored with the gorillas clint eastwood mash up

ive been lampooned, it was a simple lampoon
I'll be honest, and I think others have stated it here... their music videos typically blow. I voted for BQDFA and Change because I think they best represent the music, or parallel story telling. I would of voted for My Own Summer based purely on how bad ass it is, but IMO, it doesn't cut the cheese like the others.
Personally, I think, nothing will top the White Pony EPK. It was disgusting and degenerate, yet hopeful.
I think the Sextape video is their best. Deftones don't usually have very good video's but I think this one is excellent by anyones standards. It's very arty, which I love and fits the mood of the song beautifully.
It evokes such a strong sense of emotion in me, just like the song.
This has to be the one of the best videos I've seen by any band.
I also like the YSTB video, although I don't really understand the significance of the books and to the amazement of a lot of people I'm sure, I also really like the Mein video. I don't understand the hate towards this song - I really like it. The drumming pushes boundaries and really drives the song for me. You've got to love it, if not for Abe's drumming alone.
I like the video - it shows that you really can get down to a Deftones song, even though it's heavy and I love Chino's moves and the way he wraps the mic around his arm, incorporating it into his dancing.
Someone forgot one of the top three IMO, "Bloody Cape" :-\
Hexagram, Change and You've Seen the Butcher.

Papa Roach's 'Hollywood Whore' had the band getting bloody. A Paris Hilton look-a-like pretty much explodes and sprays blood everywhere, kinda similar?
That was the one i was thinking of, it just slipped my mind cuz i think its shit.
I don't care if people bash me for liking it but I think the Mein video is cool. I'll never understand all the hate for that song, it's just something totally different and inventive in my opinion.
The 'Bloody Cape' video has got to be my favourite - my favourite song and it gives me chills when I watch it. I love the part at the end when the dog breaks off it's leash.
I think Diamond Eyes was a brilliant work of art and although I haven't voted for Sextape, I really think the video captured the atmosphere of the song perfectly...
change
I agree with pinkmaggit, Mein video kicks ass. The whole skyline set up is really works cuz it makes Deftones look like giants ( the biggest band in the world )
especially works for chino
HAHAAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHA
I think he was tryana hide it under that fucking parker coat XD
1. Hexagram: I love the raw presentation and black and white footage.
2. Minerva: I thought the landscape of the video captured the song's massive quality.
3. Sextape: The colors are vibrant, the video's experimental and shows Deftones deviating from the norm.
BUMP :D
Change - 23 (12.2%)
Digital Bath - 22 (11.6%)
Minerva - 20 (10.6%)
