Did Stephen or Chino play that part? The reason I ask is because I remember Stephen talking about wanting to try new stuff and try solo type parts in the future. Some of you guys might remember the interview or video where he mentions something like that.
I like it because it's not really a solo in the style of guitar wankery 80's Steve Vai, but it's just weird and strange and adds to the vibe of the music as a whole and doesn't try to take away from the song.
No way to tell yet they haven't played it live or said in interviews ,it's probably stephen he usually does the more complex parts
I've heard it before here and completely agree; it sounds like a Fredrik thordendal solo. Very meshuggah Which makes me think it's Stef
Nah i think its chino's. Steph would be chugging the riff underneath.

I agree.. it's definitely Chino. That lead almost sounds like something Kurt Cobain would do.

Steph could have played both parts and just multi-tracked it
Fred Durst could bust out a Solo like that, lol

a 4 year old could bust that solo
Chino is generally the one that does leads so I'm guessing it's him.

Oh yeah of course, sorry i thought we were talking bout live.
doesnt matter either way
it rules....hence thread made
annndddd
this song is so fucking sick..
to come off a song like Rosemary and have that "endtro" bleed into the intro of the song ..
it comes across like "good" is coming to rescue "evil " ....but in the end maybe not...
well played Deftones ..well played
Yes it's Chino.
this could have easily gone in the KNY thread...
My guess, Chino, however, there is a possibility of the multi-track as mentioned, and then Stephen will play it live and then come back in with the main groove riff. That, or Frank will play the little solo live like they did with Swerve City. Lets hope that wont be true for the live version.
It was Frank....Everybody knows thatttt!!!!
definitely Chino. I can always tell b/c Stephen has a much more precise picking style. Chino tends to pick less and play more simple lead-oriented stuff, this album he plays a ton of octaves.
Whoever did it, I love it.

mos deff it's frank!
It's Chino.
I think it's Chino as well due to his penchant for bending strings like that. If it had a delay with the bend ala Rosemary or Sextape it would be fact.
Also the obvious note sliding back down into Chino's guitar part seamlessly. This one's a no brainer guys.
Probably right but Stephen has always used string bends as-well all the way back to Adrenaline days on song's like birthmark
it's chino
