Entombed should have been eliminated.

Still Tempest for me. Like I said in the last one, I skip Tempest every time but I still let Leathers play, so it's not burnout.

Entombed is one of my favorites, damn. Wouldn't mind if Graphic Nature went.

Graphic Nature is probably the most altogether 'Deftones of old' sounding song on here.  Not just musically but Chino has his more unique vocal style on this song and there's no high notes.  It's really cool and is great coming after Entombed.

I don't hate Entombed at all.  There is no bad song on the album, I don't even know if there's a weak one.  It's just that one has to be picked and that one is the one that stands out the least right now.

My favorite songs are Entombed, Graphic Nature, Swerve City, What Happened to You?, and Rosemary.  I have a feeling that those first four are also going to be the first four eliminated.  Proving once again how little I have in common with other Deftones fans.

Swerve City for me is one of the few Deftones songs that doesn't even sound like a Deftones song. The lyrics are cringe worthy, the oh-a-woah-oh's make me want to puke and feel like a shitty generic pop radio song and the riff is boring as fuck. All the mystic shit (horses traveling through the air, playing around with her forces) is just so fucking lame to me. Sounds like Chino was intent on delivering absolutely zero legitimate emotion. The song feels like they're faking it and though I absolutely adore this record, I HATE this song. At least I like it better than the song Diamond Eyes though. Talk about a piece of shit song. Just sucks that the two songs I truly hate in the bands catalogue are the two most recent opening tracks. To my though the rest of Koi No Yokan is absolute gold though. Love every other track.

You must not be thinking clearly.  No sensible Deftones fan could put Tempest below a song like Pink Cellphone.  Not only is it better, it is a great Deftones song.

And theis, Graphic Nature is more than meets the eye.

Oh, and everything about Romantic Dreams is great except the chorus which isn't that bad at all.
Title: Re: Koi No Yokan Elimination (Round 2)
Post by: ominousnimbus on Nov 30, 2012, 05:13 AM
lol... Pink Cellphone doesn't count, as I consider it an interlude and not a song. Discarding it, I stand by my statement. There's nothing "classic Deftones" about Tempest... it's pure filler with no aggression, no melody, no charm or atmosphere... nothing. Lucky You is similar, but it's at least more unique (in the realm of rock music in general) and ends a lot faster.

BTW, I didn't think Graphic Nature was much different or better at first, but it's grown on me a lot. Tempest is so bad that I don't just skip it because I wore it out... I stopped listening to it the day after they posted it this summer as I'd already had enough.

On a different note, I must've slipped into some alternate reality because as I remember, just 2 weeks ago everyone was calling Entombed the album highlight when it first leaked. Now it's about to get knocked off in the first three picks?  :o

sorry but the chorus is nothing against the verse! that groove with those vocals and especially the pre chorus riff combined with that simple but "on the spot" bassdrum pattern is one of the best things theyve ever done (groovewise).

just classic you though. it's like-

you: "times were bad in the band during eros, that's why there are rumors that the album is dark"

-no times were good in the band, they began to hang out and find their way back to each other''

you "that's what I meant. the music is dark because the music is a hobby of theirs, not reflecting their lives or anything. chino said this in a recent interview, so.."

i see stuff like this all the time

QuoteI always thought it was bad times aswell but Chino said recently in that front magazine interview that Eros is when they started doing the whole working together deal they made Diamond Eyes and KNY so fast
I've seen you on here as well and i know how much you love getting into it with people but your just not worth my time,so go get someone else to teach you the nuances of the English language and don't try start arguments until you have the reading comprehension to  back them up

I've seen many posts where you state things as facts. but when you are corrected by someone, you never admit you were wrong - instead you agree and say you always had that same view as the person who corrects you. although it's the opposite of what you first wrote.

like you would say "like linus is an offical deftones album"

-no, deftonesnz, it's not official, just a collection of songs - fan made.

"yeah i know it's fan-made, i was just talking about how wikipedia says it's offical, and it's laughable"

classic deftonesnz  :)

Title: Re: Koi No Yokan Elimination (Round 2)

Glad to see WHTY gone  :D even though it's not a bad track at all.
It doesn't really seem to fit the album though, we get such an awesome run of songs with Gauze, Rosemary and Goon Squad and they just flow so beautifully into each other and then the oddity WHTY comes along and then just fizzles out.
That's my only criticism of KNY really, I really wish they had chosen a more epic song as the closer. So much effort to bring some extra atmosphere and emotion to the tracks with the intricate intros and outro's and then this song just slapped on at the end :(
My next vote goes to Entombed.
By no means is this a bad track, nor am I voting it off because it's a slow song, in fact I think it's a pretty good track and is integral to the feeling of the album
It's also not a case of me preferring if it weren't included on the album like I felt with Beauty School on DE.
For me Entombed has too much of a Thirty Seconds to Mars (a band I can't stand) feel to it and I don't like the way Chino sings in the chorus either, it almost sounds like he's trying to be Jared Leto!
There are some really nice details in the song but for me Xerces is an example of a slower Deftones track done right.
