The press really set Romantic Dreams up for failure with the whole trap door thing ,the changes that are there are nothing new for Deftones fans

They didn't set up anything for failure.
They were describing a song saying that it has trap door like changes. Which it does.

The press built it up and made it out to be like an extremely unorthodox experimental song which got fans excited and then it turns out it's is just a normal Deftones style song with the same sort of dynamics they always use,They really dramatised the changes pre-release and then when fans heard it was nothing new I would call that a disappointment ,Don't get me wrong I like it but I don't get why it got that kind of attention it's like they hadn't heard anything but Diamond Eyes.

I wouldn't bash the song based on the ignorance of the press. It's one of my favourites on the album really. Then again, I've never given a shit what the press have to say about music. All I expected was a Deftones song playing with time signatures and that's what I got. It's a great tune even if you can't get past the "promise to watch and raise your babies" bit.

Yeah, I've been voting for Romantic Dreams since the beginning.  I gotta say, I think it's mostly because of the incredibly high expectations I had for it.  I was expecting something along the lines of Royal but bigger for some reason.  It's a decent song, but I couldn't help but have my fantasies crushed by it.

Gauze and Goon Squad are my next least favorite songs.  By the time those songs are over I feel like those main riffs have been driven into the ground, way too repetitive.  Graphic Nature is repetitive too but it's one of my favorites on the album because that riff is just so damn saucy.  That and the way it flows out of Entombed (my favorite) kills me.  Feels like one long song (though the whole album does).

Getting your hopes up is always horrible. Maybe that's part of why I'm enjoying this album so much. I expected it to be much of the same as Diamond Eyes and maybe even a bit softer and I was pleasantly surprised by what I heard. To me it's miles ahead of Diamond Eyes. Music press always has their heads up their asses so I don't pay a lick of attention to what they have to say about a song before I hear it for myself. Don't set yourself up for disappointment kids. Tell the music press to go fuck itself and interpret the music your own way. Maybe I just have an inherent distrust of music media. They never have any fucking clue what they're talking about.

yeah they're not great.. for the last couple of records,when a review gives a deftones album a 10/10 or a 5/5 ,it right away feels that they do so because they respect deftones as a band and appreciate what they've done for music historically, more so than actually reviewing the album. it's like they're fanboys helping out and supporting them. it's a little like that when they're describing songs too, they like to hype a song more than actully describing it a lot of times. some reviews are ok though

I think the chorus is genius.

im cool with the rest of the song left, i was cool with the ones voted before too.

I've voted for Tempest every time, so I feel like I should say that I just think it's the weakest song, not actually bad. Only Deftones song I just don't care for is Pink Cellphone.

Swerve City is out so I'm just voting based on preference now. I like the rest of the songs but Tempest is probably my second least favourite. Only deftones songs I hate are Diamond Eyes and Swerve City. Then there's a list of songs I don't much care for but wouldn't say I hate.

is there anyone who dislikes the chorus of romantic dreams itself, but think it works well in contrast to the other parts of the song? I hated chorus snippet but have no problem with the song as a whole, i like it ok

yeah the fucking chorus is what throw me off the most about romantic dreams.

its not their best opener by any means...but I find it a really good song by them.short but sweet.
Chino sounded great on it.

I also think the album flows pretty well ( even though i read roller derby / poltergiest was replaced with swerve)
shit i just love this album...I think its their best since the horse ride.

and Goon Squad will be the last one left on the island..

Pretty much my thoughts right there I think Swerve is a decent song not the best but still good it's only 2:49 long yet it somehow manages to seem much longer very well done it serves it's purpose as an opener and gets the energy level up nothing more,Entombed and Goon Squad are some of my favourite songs on KNY aswell I fully expected Entombed to go there's alot of hate for the softer stuff on here,I think this whole polls redundant we already did the other one for best song it's going to be either Poltergeist of Rosemary might aswell just cut it down to them now.

I'm surprised Graphic Nature wasn't one of the first to go to be honest.
