"Greetings deftones subredditors.
I come from a place of privileged information, from someone very close to the deftones themselves, closer than you might think.
A brand new B-sides and rarities album is in the making, of course, it will not be named B sides and rarities 2, the name is yet to be decided.
The goal for this is to keep the popularity and traction the band has recently gained going.
The 2 tracks already re-mixed and mastered for this release are: One OHMS outtake, aswell as MELANIE, (yes, your eyes do not deceive you MELANIE, the eros track)
No bob ezrin demos will be included (100% confirmed, unsure of the reason)
I have not heard the 2 tracks at all yet, it is planned to be at least 8 tracks, so not an EP, a full "album".

It would be released in the summer, next year.

I'm sure the band gets tired of being asked "Will you ever release Eros?"... I think an official release of those 3 songs would pretty much stop put an end to the inquiries.

One of the highest things on my wish list is to get a good mix/master of Sweetest Perfection (Depeche Mode Cover) some day.
I think these songs were only ever released in digital format, so it would be great to get them on CD.

A good mix/master of the Ross Robinson versions of Root and Nosebleed that were recorded before Adrenaline would be amazing.
Also, they really need to do an official release of the live Say It Ain't So (Weezer Cover). It was a Napster/Limewire classic that should be celebrated more.
Since they used to perform at least 4 Weezer songs live back in the day, I have a good feeling they even have a few Weezer covers that were recorded in the studio, but never got released. We need those.

Omg I thought these videos were gone!
If I was their manager or label, I would have been pushing them to put out a "B-Sides & Rarities #2" collection for several years already.
They have more than enough good B-Sides that we know about to make a full album... plus anything else that we don't know about that might be good enough to make the cut.
It seems like a really smart move right now, to give the fans something extra between the regular album cycle. They need to ride the momentum they have going, and not wait another 5 years to release something.
If I was their manager/label, I would try to get them to release a good quality live Bluray+CD+VINYL. Especially right now, since the band sounds really tight live. They released the performance video a few days ago on privatemusic.tv which was awesome. They just need to do a full 2 hour set in that same quality, then slap it on a Bluray.
So.. is there any substance to this? It sounds awesome, especially the Ohms outtake and Melanie.

It has some merit to it. Kitesvera replied to the original reddit post, and id say he has some credibility. Earlier this year he also mentioned bsides, but that was long before private music was announced.

Also just out of curiosity, can't remember if there were any Koi no yokan outtakes that we know of (I do remember the supposed DE outtake that they did in a soundcheck and I think 4 Gore outtakes. also an Ohms track that chino couldn't finish lyrics at the time)

i remember readinf ages ago that deftones had a demo/ outtake pre-gore era, so probably off of KNY or DE, cannot remember where i read it but it was supposedly called "Droid" or something like that. dont know if its real or not, but i either read it on here off of a very old thread or somewhere else.
I remember Chino talked about doing an Elvis cover at some point. I think it was maybe around the Koi No Yokan or Gore recording sessions. But I don't remember if he said that it got recorded, or was just an idea they never followed through on.
Elvis was a hero to most, but I never cared much for his music. But I would still be interested to hear Deftones cover an Elvis song or anything else.
I guess Deftones played an Elvis song live once.

It was during the Gore era because I remember Chino talking about the Elvis cover and how he was liking that old timey reverb vocal effect, which you hear a lot on Gore.
Idk if they could pull off Elvis but I'm damn curious to find out! We know Chino has the range.
Any more info on the Diamond Eyes b-side? I also remember reading about it but I don't think the band has ever mentioned it and it has never really been brought up since then
And if we are talking about possible tracks for the compilation, I wonder what happened to the 2 Koi No Yokan tracks that didn't make the cut
