So I just read that Rick Rubin will be producing the new Metallica album which kind of makes me curious what it will sound like and Lars saying it's a return to 'old Metallica'.
Who knows tho....I wait to read reviews and probably listen to it before I think about buying it.
St. Anger was crap, and I sure as hell didn't buy it!
Anyone else curious about new Metallica or they just old and washed up?
St. Anger was the first Metallica album I bought, and I don't think it's that bad actually! Their older stuff is infinitely better though. I'm definitely curious about the new album, Metallica are definitely not washed up. Master Of Puppets, ...And Justice For All and the Black album are still absolute classics!
Best metal band ever, interested to see how the new stuff turns out. I hope Rick gives em a kick in the balls for stanger.
most def. washed up. i highly doubt they will ever return to old metallica.
old and washed up.
Not the best ten years for Metallica but I would'nt put it past them to put out a killer album although I'm not holding my breath.
I also highly rate Robert Trujillo as a kick arse bassist (if you hav't heard of Infectious Grooves check em out) and if he is allowed the freedom to contribute to the song writing process unlike ST Anger it should make for an interesting release.
Just pray Lars buys a new snare...please...
I hate when bands wanna return to their old style, thats their problem, never wanting to just be completley into now, 2006. They've made some sorry mistakes throughout their career but i grew up on their first 5 records so of course i would check their new shit out if it rocks. it probably wont though.

Word.
No band ever goes back to their old sound. Ever. A bands sound is as much to do with the production as it is with the instrumentation. Sure they could come up with all these classic Metallica riffs, but it would still be made in some high quality studio by todays production standards.
If they
really wanna 'take it back to the old skool' then they shud lug their equipment down themselves to some shitty old studio and just record an album live whilst blind drunk.
That'll never happen though. Metallica will always remain a joke. Like a dog with 2 legs and one eye that just refuses to die and limps on, destroying every shred of dignity it once had and who will probably die in a pile of his own shit.
Pah, St Anger was the biggest load of shit ive ever heard, they may aswell retire now before they shit on their career even more.
they will never top the Master of Puppets album, never.

Nah man. Don't get me wrong, I respect the band they once were. But do I respect them now? No fucking way.
For this album to save them it has gotta be some tremendous shit. It's gotta overcome the joke that was St Anger as well as stamp some authority on the current scene. I just cant see that happening. Metallica just aren't Metallica anymore.
You may like St Anger, and that's up to you. Around 100% of the rest of the worlds population don't though.

I can see where you're coming from, and you're right about the importance of their next album being some mindblowing stuff, but I wouldn't cast them aside so lightly. Pretty much every band makes at least one crappy album, and in many cases they're all crappy. Even if the next one is crap though, I'll still respect Metallica for their previous work and for the impact they've had on the genre of heavy/thrash metal.
Btw I don't necessarily
like St. Anger, their old school stuff is incomparably better, but I just think it gets bashed way too much. Then again, for such a great band to slip in its standards that dramatically, I can't say I blame the older fans of Metallica. I know I would be truly disappointed if I'd been listening since the Master Of Puppets/...And Justice For All/Black album era and then I heard that, but luckily for me I'm a noob so my untrained ears aren't as fussy when it comes to Metallica.
never lose hope
i never thought Sepultura would release a good album ever again especially without max but i was proved wrong completly this year when they released "Dante XXI" which is amazing
miracles happen

same here!
Anyone who has'nt watched "Some Kind Of Monster" should definitly check it out.Not only a highly entertaining documentary but personally it shed a lot of light as to why St Anger was a bit of a let down. With all the turmoil surrounding that recording it actually helped me understand why St Anger was pretty disjointed as an album.
I also think getting Rick Rubin on board is the best thing they could have done.Bob Rock is a pretty good producer but it's obvious he's way to close to the band which must have effected their recording process. It seemed to me that he was such a good mate of the band he lost his neutrality in telling them what worked and what did'nt as it must be hard to tell your mates "Dude.....that riff really sucks some major nuts and Lars dude...buy a new snare."
I'm curious to hear this new album.
Why care about these money-hungry pricks when there are much better bands out there, espeacially if you're looking for metal.

Is that a rhetorical question?
Kill 'Em All
Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
...And Justice For All
Metallica (black album)
= GREAT albums.
Load and Re-load had a few "ok" songs.
Whiskey in the Jar is a great cover and I personally enjoyed the S&M album.
St. Anger is rubbish.

How awesome is the S&M version of Wherever I May Roam? That gets me going every time! In fact, I'll put it on now...
I think it's true what Tonedef says here though

When you listen to albums like Master Of Puppets and that, the feelings you get from them, it's as much to do with the time of those albums as it is the music itself, it feels classic due to its lifespan! A product of its time! To say they're going back to the 'old sound' is silly, it's not that "time" anymore, ya know! I do still have mass respect for Metallica though, mainly because they were one of the first bands that I listened to and basically got me into heavy music, so I'll never really turn my back on them or anything. I'm as curious as anyone else is on how this new album is gonna sound like, but saying it's "Old Metallica" again is just building the fans up for a disappointment! Who knows though, maybe it'll be the greatest Metallica record in years and the doubters will have to eat their own words haha!
What I find funny though is with some of the people that I know, they say they hate the Black Album, and say it's a weak record! No fucking way! Ok, so it's not "thrash", but it's still a classic heavy metal record! Dont diss it because it's not like Master Of Puppets, ya know!

Agreed to an extent when considering the last ten years but I guess it's a respect thing.
If it was'nt for Metallica and Sepultura who knows what kind if shit I would be listening too now?Not only that but a lot of the "better" bands you listen to would list Metallica as a direct influence.
I'm also constantly baffled by the "they made it hence they are money hungry sell outs".To me that's BS as it's their early musical success that got them to where they are now.You don't sell 90 million albums without releasing some great music and nobody was ever forced to buy a Metallica album.
It is fine for a band to reap the rewards because their albums are very good and sell a shitload.
but metallica has proven they are greedy bastards in the past 10 years with all their lawsuits against P2P programs and other instances.
Yeah but that was Lars, don't think the whole band was totally for that or thought it would blow up like it did.I agree that was a pretty stupid move in terms of their relations with fans but at the same time I admire anyone who stands up for what they think is wrong even if I disagree with their opinion.
It's not only Metallica who lose out but the smaller bands that take such profit loses hard due to P2P software.
I don't think it was motivated by money either.Do you really think that has had any lasting effects on them making money? It was a stance on intellectual property and the right for it not to be stolen more than anything else which I partly agree with.On a tangent I noticed on the news tonight they plan to increase movie prices due to a profit lose of 6.1 billion dollars due to piracy last year.
Different medium but similar effects to the consumer.
It doesn't affect Metallica at all. That's what makes their opinion on it that much lamer. It's like they're scrounging for anything that might subtract a fraction of their money away. I know Lars is the main culprit, though.
All I remember is those great Joe cartoons.Man they were the shit:
"Beer good!!Napster bad!!!"
lol
To be honest Lars strikes me as the type of guy who would have done it just for an excuse to whine about something. He seems to have a pretty catty and quick fire temper.
Somebody mentioned recording. I think that's one key element. They can't get too polished sounding; too much pro-tools and what not. They should just go and play and not do any 'cut and paste' tracks.
And yeah Lars snare sounded like crap on S.A. They really need to fix that!
I've liked Rob Trujillo since he was in Sucidal Tendencies ands it'd be interesteing to see how he could contribute to Mets sound. Some slap bass perhaps? :P Prob not if they're going back to an old sound.
I think 'old' sound would be anything from "Justice" and before. More 'metal' sounding, less "rawk" sounding. The rhythm guitar especially. And Kirk needs to go back to his old solo style - 80's era.
Lyrically and vocally there's lots that could be done like addressing the war in Iraq, and other social commentary rather then personal shit.
Wait and see.
Gay.

Nothing wrong with liking the old albums.
I can MAYBE see liking stuff from like, the Kill 'em all era, but that's it.
Haha, my mom made me listen to that album a few days ago and I was reading the lyrics. That shit's dumb.
Sellout because of the Napster thing? Damn, i wish you could realize what kind of crap your letting out. That had nothing at all to do with Metallica.
Im not really listening to Metallica that much, but with Rick Rubin, and with the sound they had on St*Anger, it can only be a awsome record.
Will you shut up? I won't listen to an opinion that isn't based on anything. Have you even listened to old Metallica? St. Anger or whatever sounded like everything else on the market aat the time. You think that wasn't deliberate? You thing the AREN'T money grubbing fucks that should just be put down?
No. I want them to do another record. best metal band ever, they rip it up like no other.
Hell yeah, law knows what he's talking about.
aha, thanks.
It just goes on my experience from seeing them. I've seem them a lot of times, and the first few gigs... god damn, kick up the ass or what... Hetfield owns you all. Now I aren't as fussed as metallica as I used to be as I've seen them loads and have their records engrained into me from listening over a long period of time.

anyway I have faith in them that they will produce some good shit before they quit, it just needs them to be grounded again if thats possible.
trendy angst hanging from bloated neck, ushering in the new meltdown..
When I thik think old sound it's not just fast and heavy but lots of dynamics, the odd meter shifts and time signatures. And of course the solos. I think they could go back to that but updated.
It's too bad tho cuz unlike say the deftones, Metallica isn't that experimental- incorporting a lot of other musical influences into the music.
As fas as 'metal' goes I've never been a fan of that European opera singer type vocals- Maiden, Priest, etc. Some of the music is good, but the vox. Bleh :-\

Metallica used to be good but then they humiliated themselves completely beyond a point of return.
now I have no respect left for them.
I like all the 80s era
Then Load & Reload , even tough everyone hate those albums
Then Garage inc was a great CD of cool covers.
After that fuck it.
no doubt. after that they burnt their 15 minutes.
im looking forward to it. i believe they are in top form musically speaking, practicing everyday.
everyne has an opinion, mostly both a good and bad of Metallica. early shit rules , new shit sucks...but, differing opinions asside, they are still a fucking awsome band

metallica hasn't made a great album in 20 fucking years (yes ...and justice for all was the last one, i think black was overrated)
how anyone can be optimistic about this band making another good album is beyond me
fran-tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tock! lars, tune your snare and james, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!

right... iron maiden... running loooOoOoOoOoOoOowww!!! yeah, awesome shit... notice sarcasm...
anyway, you can't hate metallica because lars doesn't support fans downloading music. that would mean you should like limp bizkit because, from the interviews i read, limp bizkit supported napster at about the same time and metallica and limp bizkit had a feud back then, which is why during mtv:idol, when limp bizkit performed sanitarium, james wasn't on his seat. so, let that go, please.
i don't necessarily follow the same logic because i like both and i download from torrents :)
also, they've already written and sold justice! why the fuck would they do it again! what do you mean "another album like that"? you want them to change the riffs a bit, vocal lines a bit and put it out? seriously guys... it's alright if they're doing something different... i liked st anger, i don't care if that makes me the n00b here, but solos have been exhausted.
btw the chorus of "frantic" was ripped off from this song...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PFURM9eA_Q
i think we can all agree on that one...
im putting a lot of expectations on it..
really stupid album name.
Its not what i expected , but some of the mission Metallica clips have some good stuff to listen to.
first of all, i love metallica the band not the people. everything up to garage inc was awesome, i like one or wtwo songs from st anger in VERY small doses, and i hope the new album is listenable.
Second of all, Iron Maiden will run cirlces around Metallica AND Megadeth in the present day and THEYRE OLDER THAN BOTH BANDS.
at least maiden still knows how to play fast.
i think Maiden have more of a bond..putting aside Dickonson leaving, all the member's all get along well, and are still in the band, no deaths, no firings, no rehabs.
yeah i think they have proven a lot to the heavy metal community

6. ...And Justice For All

The new clips sound pretty good to me. Alot better than St. Anger, and at least they brought back the solo's. St. Anger sounded like Metallicas attempt at being Korn.
to be completely honest, i think the new albums is just going to be st anger with solos. James hetfields vocals are louder than everything else, and lars snare still has not guts.
metallica is currently the worst popular 80s metal band. theyre getting one-upped by all their old buddies. even the new judas preist is better than anything metallica will do.
it's getting so fucking old to hate on Metallica.
they've made some of the greatest metal albums ever and don't fucking deny that. sure, they've made some crap with the last 10 years, but i still have hope for the new album.
edit: Currently watching the Bonnaroo performance...wow, James sounds better than ever.
i doubt its gonna be a St.Anger with solo's.
im hoping more for a "Black" album meets"Puppets" or "..Justice" vibe's...
something strongly reminiscent of the 80's...i guess thats what everyone says though.

Metallica are still a viable band. i still remember stealing master of puppets on my sisters boyfriend. that has to be the first tape I have ever worn out. For about two years I thought that was all they had released.
They still have the goods though
youtube for the clips... metallica new album or something...
rolling stone made the new album sound like it was gonna be just like old metallica but you can trust rolling stone about as much as george bush.
hehe, rolling stone... i gave up on that magazine ever since they put keith richards up as the tenth greatest guitarist of all time... seriously... wtf
can't disagree with the entire list though, especially jack white and john frusciante's positions...
back to metallica, yeah, i think they're gonna do better on this record than load/reload... st anger, for me, is going to be hard to beat... i liked it... and i don't see why they had to release a documentary supporting the reason why it flopped... seriously, if you don't like the songs on an album don't fucking put it out...

I am so there!!! :)
I swear to God I was listening to the radio on my way home last night and heard a song that I know was Metallica, I'd never heard it before and I'm very familiar with there work. I was wondering if it was new. It fucking kind of sucked, but don't know what it was.
anyone know when we'll actually be hearing the day that never comes?
aug 22 is when i heard radio will start playing it
today...
just heard it on two separate radio stations in new york and philly at the 2 o'clock hour ET. it's fuckin sweet. first half is reminiscient of fade to black and the second half kicks it old school. the band sounds fantastic on this track. hetfield sounds great and kirk's got some sweet solos.
it's on their myspace page now. enjoy!

and Hetfield talking shit about that new bass player that looks like a gorilla and dissing Jason Newsted

Fuck him and Trujillo
Newsted > Trujillo
Burton>Newsted>Trujillo
Newsted greater than trujillo? He might preform like a retarded crab, but is insanely good. Check out some infectious Grooves.
In regards to new Metallica, its not as good as I thought, but I know I'll still but it and play it non-stop
i dont see how trujillo does that crap without blowing out his knees, lol
James voices are strange.
And that´s not an "agressive" music.
but...not that bad.
just heard the new song on the radio.
pure fucking crap.

yea, it has been really bad since after 91(along with the music), but it sounds a lot better than the past 3 albums now. doesnt mean it's soundin great, but it's a good step in the right direction. this will be their 6th best album. i dont think they'll ever make an album that beats any of their first 5 again, but that doesnt mean they cant start making "good" albums again
and when is the last time we heard them get this metal, with that 3 minute ending of rockin out/solos
i just heard the new song and i think it is fucking awesome. I love it.
i think it's pretty good too

I've come around to the song. I really like it.
Still ot digging Lars' drum sound though
i learned have of the day that never comes on guitar yesterday. so easy yet so nice.
definitely the best new song they've had
i found a DL link for it here.... http://www.sendspace.com/file/po5fjb
yeah new song is definitely the best yet. cant wait for the whole album!!!
They would be streaming new songs each monday, thats what they said on their myspace.

i think that person was joking
load and re-load aren't horrible.
they're not very metallica'ish, but still okay albums.
st. anger is a pile of shit though.
be nice guys, we want him to stay. think of it as an oppurtunity to broaden his horizons

nah, load & re-load blow goats just as much
Load and Reload seem to be pretty preferential where as everyone seems to agree St Anger was poo.
not after hearing "my apocalypse", that song is pretty badass
anyone got "my apocalypse" in a decent quality mp3?
does it sounds like nothing else matters??
it's straight up speed metal, it's great
Early Metallica CD review
By Tony Hicks
Thursday, August 21st, 2008
http://www.ibabuzz.com/insertfoot/20...ica-cd-review/
Nobody puts Kirk Hammet's guitar in the corner.
I got to spend the afternoon today (Thursday) at Metallica HQ in Marin, listening to the band's new record "Death Magnetic," which comes out Sept. 12 (that's what my sheet says, even though new CDs usually come out on Tuesdays, not Fridays).
Funny enough, while listening to Kirk Hammett regain his guitar hero status on "Death Magnetic," I sat almost in the exact same spot Hammett sat in the "Some Kind Of Monster" documentary, which chronicled the chaos of Metallica making their last record "St. Anger." It was in that spot that Hammett argued with drummer Lars Ulrich and producer Bob Rock that their then-new practice of writing songs without guitar solos was, um, not to Hammett's liking.
Arguing against the notion that guitar solos were "dated" Hammett ended up being dead-on when he said not having guitar solos dated Metallica's music to that particular time. "St Anger" sounded like it was following the lead of early 2000s metal bands. Apparently Hammett and the rest of the band are tired of following bands who grew up worshipping them.
They only gave me one listen, with an engineer and record company rep in the room, so a comprehensive review is fairly pointless. Coincidentally, the one CD review I wish I could re-write was my 2003 "St Anger" review. In a rush to get a story in the paper, I only listened to the album a couple times. Apparently I was so happy to hear Metallica revert to its heavy ways that I gave it an A-, neglecting to realize that it wasn't a very good record.
So no grade now. I will tell you that no one, but NO ONE leashes Kirk Hammett on "Death Magnetic," and the result is some of the best playing of his career. You can hear lots of echoes of their first four albums (not to mention one echo from the kindler, gentler 90s on "The Unforgiven III"). One leftover from "St. Anger" is that "Death Magnetic" features few songs sounding like they were written around a vocal hook, which was how Metallica got their sneering faces on MTV so much in the 90s. The difference from "St. Anger," is that the riffs, while still heavy, aren't crashing about searching for a place to settle within the songs. The songs have better structure and just sound better. Metallica is back to powering fast, central riffs, occasionally breaking ranks and tempo for some Iron Maiden-ish breakouts, then building to ... you guessed it, the muscley solo from Hammett.
But don't get too excited. While better than "St. Anger,:" the songs again seem so intent on proving Metallica still brings the thunder that something is occasionally out of place. There's barely a vocal hook in sight - something the band could pull off more than capably on the early records, even if it was shouting a few words to pass for a chorus. Somehow it just doesn't work so well anymore. But Hetfield and Ulrich may have been so pleased at how well the band sounds the first time in the studio with bassist Robert Trujillo, they just blew off the the choruses. The whole band sounds tight and absolutely stacked. Some of the songs sound like they came from jams, including the instrumental "Suicide & Redemption," which built slowly into layers of blistering Hammett.
And, I have to say, while it's nice to hear Metallica get back (mostly ... so far ... I think ... after one listen) to what they do best instead of experimenting, It's also nice to hear Hetfield no longer struggling with his personal demons lyrically, getting back to yelling about mangled flesh and whatnot.
I promised not to do a detailed review and think I did anyway. To be fair, i'll get back to you after the record comes out. Better yet, we can talk amongst ourselves. between now and Sept. 12, the band will be streaming 1-2 songs at a time at metallica.com
the hype should be killed. this will be an ok record for metallica, but it wont be the greatest comeback of all times. just bare with it....
I think the new songs are actually pretty decent. It's like they are not amazing but not crappy either. I can say I like them better than anything off of reload or st anger.

black album or the new album?

black album or the new album?
stop asking stupid questions and listen to the albums and judge them yourself.
I like the new album better than the black album just because i havent heard it a billion times.
heres my take:
Ride The Lightning > Master of Puppets > Metal Up Your Ass > And Justice For All > Death Magnetic > Black Album > Garage inc
then the rest of the albums suck.
oh yeah and i got my tickets to the New Orleans show. Cannot fucking wait!!! first time ive ever bought a bands album the day it came out AND got tickets for the tour.
I might have an extra ticket if anyone still needs one after they sell out.
and Trapped Under Ice is gonna be on Guitar Hero World Tour.
And I'm uploading the Death Magnetic demos, should be done soon.
I think thats all.

"Death Magnetic, at least the title, to me [...] started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there, Thinking about death€¦ some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we're all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about no one wants to bring it up; it's the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point." - James Hetfield
01 - That Was Just Your Life
Like a siren in my head that i was placed to repeat,
Like a blind man that was shoved into the speeding driver's seat,
Like a face that learned to speak, when all it knew was how to fight,
Like a misery that keeps me from just going out astray,
Like an illness that I'm about to waken from its state.
Contradiction,
A premonition,
Now are the aids who i deny,
I deny.
I blind my eyes and try to force it all into place,
I stitch them up, see not my fall from grace.
I blind my eyes, i hardly feel it passing me by,
I open just in time to say goodbye.
Almost like your life,
Almost like your endless fight,
Cursed, the day is long,
Realize you don't belong,
Disconnect somehow,
Never stop complaining now,
Almost like your fight,
And there it went,
Almost like your life.
[Solo]
Like a bullet, keeps on bleeding to remind me not to think,
Like a raging river, drowning when i only need a drink,
Like a poison that i swallow, but i want the world to die.
Like a release from a prison that i didn't know i was in,
Like a fight to live the present, i pictured it like this,
Like a general without a mission until the wars start again,
Start again.
I blind my eyes and try and force it all into place,
I stitch them up, see not my fall from grace.
I blind my eyes, i hardly feel it passing me by,
I open just in time to say goodbye.
Almost like your life,
Almost like your endless fight,
Cursed, the day is long,
Realize you don't belong,
Disconnect somehow,
Never stop complaining now,
Almost like your fight,
And there it went,
Almost like your life.
Like a touch from hell,
I feel how hot that it can get if you get caught,
Like a strike from heaven that turns that key,
That brings you straight down to your knees,
Like a touch from hell,
I feel how hot that it can get if i get caught,
Like a strike from heaven to reprieve,
That brings you straight down to your knees.
Almost like your life,
Almost like your endless fight,
Cursed, the day is long,
Realize you don't belong,
Disconnect somehow,
Never stop complaining now,
Almost like your fight,
And there it went,
Almost like your life.
That was just your life.
02 - The End of The Line
So long to you

A gold chain lay me down and down
Send my remains to my best friend
The rest to my hole in the ground
Send the rest to my hole in the ground
I bow my head, 'cause in the mornin'
I'm a gonna be dead
I think I'm gonna kill myself
I think I'm gonna kill myself
Now dig my grave with a silver spade
A gold chain lay me down
Send my remains to my best friend
The rest to my hole in the ground
Rest to my hole in the ground

03 - Broken, Beat and Scarred
You rise, you fall, you're down then you rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
You rise, you fall, you're down then you rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
Rise, fall, down, rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
Rise, fall, down, rise again
What don't kill you make you more strong
Through black days
Through black nights
Through pitch black insights
Breaking your teeth on the hard life coming
Show your scars
Cutting your feet on the hard earth running
Show your scars
Breaking your life, broken beat and scarred
But we die hard
The dawn, the death, the fight to the final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
The dawn, the death, the fight to the final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
Dawn, death, fight, final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
Dawn, death, fight, final breath
What don't kill you make you more strong
They scratched me
They scraped me
They couldn't rape me
Breaking your teeth on the hard life coming
Show your scars
Cutting your feet on the hard earth running
Show your scars
Breaking your life, broken beat and scarred
But we die hard
Breaking your teeth on the hard life coming
Show your scars
Cutting your feet on the hard earth running
Show your scars
Braiding your soul in a hard luck story
Show your scars
Spilling your blood in a hot suns foray
Breaking your life, broken, beat and scarred
We die hard
We die hard
We die hard
04 - The Day That Never Comes
Born to push you around
You better just stay down
You pull away
He hits the flesh
You hit the ground
Mouths so full of lies
Tend to black your eyes
Just keep them closed
Keep praying
Just keep waiting
Waiting for the one
The day that never comes
When you stand up and feel the warmth
but the sunshine never comes
No the sunshine never comes
Push you cross that line
Just stay down this time
Hide in yourself
Crawl in yourself
You'll have your time
God I'll make them pay
Take it back one day
I'll end this day
I'll splatter color on this grave
Waiting for the one
The day that never comes
When you stand up and feel the warmth
but the sunshine never comes
No the sunshine never comes
Love is a four letter word
And never spoken here
Love is a four letter word
Here in this prison
I suffer this no longer
I put it into
This I swear!
This I swear!
The sun will shine
This I swear!
This I swear!
This I swear!
05 - All Nightmare Long
Luck. Runs. Out.
Crawl from the wreckage one more time
Horrific memory twists the mind
Dark, rugged, cold and hard to turn
Path of destruction, feel it burn
Still life
Incarnation
Still life
Infamy
Hallucination
Heresy
Still you run, what's to come?
What's today?
'Cause we hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Feel us breathe upon your face
Feel us shift, every move we trace
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long, yeah
Luck. Runs.
You crawl back in
But your luck runs out
1.2.
Luck. Runs. Out.
The light that is not light is here
To flush you out with your own fear
You hide, you hide, but will be found
Release your crypt without a sound
Still life
Immolation
Still life
Infamy
Hallucination
Heresy
Still you run, what's to come?
What's today?
'Cause we hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Feel us breathe upon your face
Feel us shift, every move we trace
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Luck. Runs.
You crawl back in
But your luck runs out
Then you crawl back in
Into your obsession
Never to return
This is your confession
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Feel us breathe upon your face
Feel us shift, every move we trace
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long, yeah
Luck. Runs.
You crawl back in
But your luck runs out
Your luck runs out
06 - Cyanide
Sleep, and dream of this
Death angel's kiss
Brings final bliss
Come believe me!
Empty they say
Death, won't you let me stay?
Empty they say
Death, won't you call your name?
Oh, call your name!
Suicide, I've already died
You're just the funeral I've been waiting for
Cyanide, living dead inside
Break this empty shell forevermore
Wait, wait patiently
Your death-black wings
Unfolding sleep
Spreading on me
Empty they say
Death, won't you let me stay?
Empty they say
Death, hear me call your name
Oh, call your name!
Suicide, I've already died
You're just the funeral I've been waiting for
Cyanide, living dead inside
Break this empty shell forevermore
Say, is that rain or are they tears?
That stained your concrete face for years
Crying, weeping, shedding strife
Year after year, life after life
A narrow freshly broken ground
A concrete angel laid right down
Upon the grave which swallows fast
It's peace at last
Oh, peace at last
Empty they say
Death, won't you let me stay?
Empty they say
Death, hear me call your name
Oh, call your name
Suicide, I've already died
You're just the funeral I've been waiting for
Cyanide, living dead inside
Break this empty shell forevermore
Forevermore!
Forevermore!
It's the funeral I've been waiting for!
07 - The Unforgiven III
How could he know this new dawn's light
Would change his life forever?
Set sail to sea but pulled off course
By the light of golden treasure
Was he the one causing pain
With his careless dreaming?
Been afraid, always afraid
Of the things he's feeling
He could just be gone
He would just sail on
He would just sail on
How can I be lost?
If I've got nowhere to go?
Searched for seas of gold
How come it's got so cold?
How can I be lost?
In remembrance I relive
And how can I blame you
When it's me I can't forgive?
These days drift on inside a fog
It's thick and suffocating
This seeking life outside its hell
Inside intoxicating
He's run aground like his life
Water's much too shallow
Slipping fast down with the ship
Fading in the shadows now
A castaway
Blame all gone away
Blame gone away
How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?
Searched for seas of gold
How come it's got so cold?
How can I be lost?
In remembrance I relive
And how can I blame you
When it's me I can't forgive?
Forgive me, forgive me not
Forgive me, forgive me not
Forgive me, forgive me not
Forgive me, forgive me
Why can't I forgive me?
Set sail to sea but pulled off course
By the light of golden treasure
How could he know this new dawn's light
Would change his life forever
How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?
Searched for seas of gold
How come it's got so cold?
How can I be lost?
In remembrance I relive
So how can I blame you
When it's me I can't forgive?
08 - The Judas Kiss
When the world has turned its back
When the days have turned pitch black
When the fear abducts your tongue
When the fire's dead and gone
So what now?
Where do I head?
When you think it's all said and done
When you are the ostracized
Selfish written, dead goodbyes
Twisting of the tourniquet
When the pieces never fit
So what now?
Where do I head?
When you think it's all said and done
Bow down
Sell your soul to me
I will set you free
Pacify your demons
Bow down
Surrender unto me
Submit infectiously
Sanctify your demons
Into abyss
You don't exist
Cannot resist
The Judas kiss
When the storm has blacked your sky
Intuition crucify
When the ego strips your reign
Assasinate the living flame
So what now?
Where do I head?
When you think it's all said and done
Venom of a life insane
Bites into your fragile veins
Internalize and decimate
Pitting it as complicate
So what now?
Where do I head?
When you think it's all said and done
Bow down
Sell your soul to me
I will set you free
Pacify your demons
Bow down
Surrender unto me
Submit infectiously
Sanctify your demons
Into abyss
You don't exist
Cannot resist
The Judas kiss
Judas lives recite this vow
I've become your new god now
Follow you from dawn of time
Whisper thoughts into your mind
Watched your towers hit the ground
Lured the children never found
Helped your kings abuse their crown
In the heart of evil man
Plant the seeds of my own plan
Strong and powerful will fall
Find a piece of me in all
Inside you all
So bow down
Sell your soul to me
I will set you free
Pacify your demons
Bow down
Surrender unto me
Submit infectiously
Sanctify your demons
Into abyss
You don't exist
Cannot resist
The Judas kiss
09 - Suicide & Redemption
Instrumental
10 - My Apocalypse
Claustrophobic
Crawl out of this skin
Hard explosive
Reaching for that pin
Feel thy name extermination
Desecrating, Hail of Fire
So we cross that line
Into the crypt
Total eclipse
Suffer unto my apocalypse!
Deadly vision
Prophecy revealed
Death magnetic
Pulling closer still
Feel thy name annihilation
Desolating, Hail of Fire
So we cross that line
Into the crypt
Total eclipse
Suffer unto my apocalypse!
My apocalypse... Go!
Crushing metal, Ripping Skin
Tossing body mannequin
Spilling Blood, Bleeding Gas
Mangle flesh, Snapping spine
Dripping bloody valentine
Shattered face, spitting glass
Split apart
Split apart
Split apart
Split
Spit it out!
What makes me drift a litter bit closer
Dead man takes the steering wheel
What makes me know it's time to cross over
Words you repeat until I feel
See through the skin the bones they all rattle
Future and past they disagree
Flesh falls away the bones they all shatter
I start to see the end in me
See the end in me...
Claustrophobic
Climb out of this skin
Hard explosive
Waiting for that pin
Violate, annihilate
A loser to my eyes
Obliterate, exterminate
At last accept, deny
Feel thy name as hell awakens
Destiny, Inhale the Fire
But we cross that line
Into the crypt
Total eclipse
Suffer unto my apocalypse!
Tyrants awaken my apocalypse!
Demon awaken my apocalypse!
Heaven awaken my apocalypse!
Suffer forever my apocalypse!
I'm drunk so I just copied and pasted, didn't copy them from the book but ill review it in the mornin.
It doesn't matter how great lyrics are meant to be, whenever i read them like that, written down, it just sounds.. gay?
they arent meant to be read alone.
they are meant for those of you lazy or broke people who didnt buy the cd to find out phrases they couldnt quite hear.
Yeah even though I bought the CD, some of the 'artistic' qualities of the album cut off the lyrics. But I really like the packaging. Really unique. This is album is soooo good.
Thanks for posting them up dude!
Hahaha WTF? :D :D

is that thrash metal store? lol
what you guys think about this frenzi of fans kinda "remastering" the songs of the album, based on the tracks from the GH3 download pack?. i think its pretty cool.
yeah i grabbed one of those 'remasters' off of kerrazy torrents about a week ago.
if anyone could find the james hetfield solo version of suicide & redemption id appreciate it. i wanna hear the difference.

that was...weird.
Its a fucking cool video!!!
i didnt realise oldnewtype put all the lyrics and torrents up..top class bloke!
i already bought the cd, but, its cool anyway. Really good album. Whats all this "clipping" nonsense though?
i can hear it now and then, its a disapointment that such a great release can STIILL hold a 'flaw' in the eyes (ear) of the fans. Not that i find it a problem, but ive read net articles about literally THOUSANDS of fans moaning about the clipping issue.
i saw metallica about a week ago and its one of my favorite shows I've ever seen.

Dude...its almost a life altering experience going to a Metallica show..they are top of the game when it comes to live shows.
First time i went, i was in awe...i kept grabbing this bald, mid 40's man standing next to me and shaking him shouting "this is fucking awsome!" he has the biggest smile on his face too..so did his son actually

I agree, but I've never really like James' lyrics
I can't believe I'm saying this. But I actually like the new metallica. I have only heard the singles" the day that never comes" and " cyanide " . But I actually like them. I like the new Guns N' Roses singles too. Something is wrong in the world.
Can't fucking wait to see them live with Mastodon and Lamb of God in July...
It's gonna be an insane concert.
I saw them with Machine Head in December and it was an amazing show, I still dont like that bassist tough.
