This console has brought back my love for gaming.
But, I really want to go online on it as well, has anyone heard anything about the wireless modem for it?

Use to be a blast talking to people all over a America on your headset whilst kicking their ass on Halo 2.

I never tried the wireless, but it should work fine i guess. If you haven't tried live yet you're in for a serious treat. It doubles the fun, no doubt.

Dude how far approx would you say your xbox is from your modem/internet connection? I take it not close enough for a huge lead to connect inbetween?
circa 15 metres. So a long line would work. But, do you to call the internet company and open another line?
No not at all, I mean, you could :D and have a line dedicated to gaming.
But really all you need is like a router, So you can just plug the lead into one of it's outlets then into the Xbox360 and it's as simple as that. You should easily be able to get a cable long enough for it, But wireless could be ideal in your case.
But i don't know how wireless works the gaming end, I only know that Usb things plug in the comp then the connect to your router, Not sure if it's the same for the Xbox360
Hehe, we got a router that can connect you wireless and with a wire. :) My laptop is wireless connected, but my dad's Comp is wired up. I just need to get off my ass and test it. There was a cable in the 360 pack i bought, and a free 48 hour trial with FEAR along with a months gaming with the 360 purchase.

All you gotta do is plug the cable into the router and you're sorted. Well it's what i did with my old Xbox and currently with my Ps2 anyway ;)

Yeah, I got the "odd" package with a Hard disc and wireless controller and some cables and stuff. And exchanged all my ps2 games for 360 ones at EB games. Got anal ripped.

But you're right, EB Games (which is GAME over here) Fuckin' rips you hard for game trading prices half of the time, GameStation is a good place we have though for trade-ins and their games are cheap, But i'll probably stick to ordering some games online (if i'm patient enough)

Yes Ghost Recon on the 360 is one of the best games on the system. And you can play in teams, yes, but most games allow that, even Call of Duty 2 / 3

"Dark noir post nuclear landscapes, duck and cover, shoot everything that moves, repeat ..."
Oh, and the enemy are alien type beings. Not my cop of tea usually. But, there's still something about that looks quite captivating. I'm torn.

I agree to some extent, The gameplay is something kinda different but i'm never that good at keeping on my toes in action games untill i've played them a long while, So who knows. But i'd buy it just for the sheer fact the graphics are amazing.

Well I wouldnt focus too much on graphics when you buy something since you're not playing on HDTV. Im not trying to make you jeloush but when you play those 360 games on a HDTV, dear lord your eyes are going to fall out of your head.
Anyway, Gears and Call of Duty are two very different games. Gears is third person, and its basically find cover, shoot out, find cover, shoot out, tactical stuff with some team members controlled by either AI or another person online or next to you.
Call of Duty is just a straight up shooter. Nothing wrong with it. But Gears is hyped more and pretty much the Halo of this generation for Microsoft.
Call of Duty looks pretty cack IMO, but that's because i find some war games damn boring!
OH and luckily i'll be playing mine on a HDTV with my home cinema system whooo. Dolby 5.1 here i come :D

Im still going to wait until Christmas before I buy Gears Of War. Right now Im playing through Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter again and Harvest Moon on the GameCube. Then the Wii comes, so that will take lots of time. That leaves Christmas to have fun with Gears.

Yeah i know what you mean, But Ps2 is good for a few good exsclusive titles though which i think are worth owning the console for, Ps3 will be the same but..Xbox 360 has all the games i want and fuckin' shit hot new ones for it, So i'm going with that now.

I've gotten good at it all of a sudden. I can beat my opponents in like 3 or so minutes now. Weird. I'm enjoying it now, but I'll still probably trade it in around March time, as I'll probably be sick of it by then.

It's simply not fast enough. Like, you can stream movies from your computer through your X Box, but the wireless network isn't even fast enough to stream those movies. Just an example.
Tony Hawk's project 8 is awesome. Truly the best in the series. No psycho tricks and no flying from giant buildings performing a million tricks.
The slowmotion elements that allows you to controle the legs of your character is off the hook ! Great game so far. Haven't even put on Gears of War yet. Ah, well ... Tomorrow. :)

Well I dont know exactly, all I know is that I have wireless internet for both my PC and my Xbox 360, both need a router for that of course or whatever the fuck they are called. The 360 one is pretty pricey to be honest, dont remember exactly how much.

Subliminal, don't get COD 3. It's a piece of shit, because rather than be developed by the crack team that did COD 2 - Infinity Ward, it was made by fucking Treyarch. They've fucked up the game so badly.
COD 3 offers a fairly average single player, which whilst ok to play, is nowhere near as momentous or as cinematic as COD 2, quite simply because the battles have been recreated with zero passion. The supposed new 'melee combat gameplay mechanic' is actually a few scripted events, and they're over very easily. It offers four Allied team - US, Canada, Poland, Britain. Whilst it's nice to finally have acknowledgement for both Canada and Poland in a video game, they're both also using British weapons (as they did indeed do), which unfortunately, is not a wise gameplay choice. Speaking of which...
The weapons are the worst friggin' part. COD 2 provided a great set of weapons - four teams worth (in multiplayer) - and all those weapons felt very different to each other, and all had specific benefits to practice, and flaws to be wary, but become ultimately experienced of. Unfortunately, the weapons in COD 3 are absolute crap. Those that were brought back from COD 2 have worse functionality - with the exception of the shotgun, (wow) - and most of the guns are too identical, or lack the character they once had. Better yet, you can't even use the British weapons in multiplayer, because you can only be either American or German.
The new multiplayer mode War is essentially King Of The Hill, and you have to capture three Hills in a row to win. Unfortunately, there are only two hills per map, so you just run from one to the other for ten minutes. It's a complete see-saw game, where a winner is decided by the sheer luck of having blasted everybody on the opposing team at the right time for them all to have to wait to spawn whilst you capture a hill, rather than actual strategy. The maps themselves are bloody awful, and most of the time you find yourself being blown to shit as soon as you turn a corner by some stupid bastard who won't stop jumping into a tank as soon as he spawns, making for a ludicrously uneven game.
All the multiplayer Achievements are dependant on Ranked matches, and nobody can bloody get into them. Multiplayer is shoddy as Hell, and the single player, well... it was recreated with such apathy that the only moment which provoked an emotional reaction in me was the last battle of the Polish campaign.
Avoid it like the plague. Get COD 2 instead if you haven't already. If you don't believe me, just visit the IGN boards and look at the long list of complaints. Only good things about COD 3 are the graphics, the improved shotgun and the focus blur as you're aiming down the sight of your gun.
I've got about 16 360 games, and it is easily one of the worst. On the other hand, if anybody hasn't got FEAR, then you need to get that game, because it's fucking amazing. It's not particularly scary - not to me anyway, but I'm a Silent Hill/Resident Evil nutball - but the action is just so good.
Got my eye on Rainbow Six Vegas. Will probably get it when it comes out, because I like the demo. Any one else probably gonna get it?

They aren't nothing fancy..Well, they're Technics headphones don't know if you've heard of them? They do all the sick stereo systems. But if you have Dolby 5.1 setting switched on, on your 360 then grunts, gunfire, speech shout from the left, behind, front, It's fuckin' awesome.
But man, The only thing is i can't control the volume once the headphones are in the t.v, Which is a bummer so i have to play it quite loud and when that Berserker bit came, fuck, It shit me up proper :D

Yeah i liked the water streaming down the trees in the forest and the big drips of water coming through the floors in the factory bounce of your armour and shit, I love all the little detail it has.
I think it find it so amazing because i've gotten so used to the fact that you had to let off the Ps2 for having the odd glitch or not being able to do half the shit the Xbox could do.

not really. Gears of war just isn't my type of game, and i'm a skateboarder so i would like to have skate games realistic. Skate is going to be, project 8 is pretty silly, plus the story sucks massive stuff, and most "missions" are weak.
I've looked at Gears of War, and to be honest, it doesn't look like my type of game. I'm gonna give it a miss.

But you get 100gp just for rescuing some guy in Kameo right near the beginning of the game. The whole system is unbalanced.. And yet is absolute genius in terms of shifting games.
The online ones are hard, 100 headshots, 100 curb stomps etc.
I've done all that in player matches, But i just can't be arsed with playing ranked matches and re-loading them over and over. It's fuckin' tedious, although i might play some with my ultimate GOW team 8)
I've done the whole game on Insane on my own, I just need help with the last 2 chapters of Act 5.

I do believe its a great feature yes. Most people never play through games and this can be an extra motivation.

I don't like that kind of shit so I'm not looking forward to those points. I basically have a problem with hard games. I know the sense of reward is better when you finally get past that gay part you were stuck on for ages or whatever.. But 9 times out of 10 I won't know about it 'cause the game would have been relegated to the bottom of the pile and never played again. Video games infuriate me when it seems they're just made to fucking piss me off.
With some games I love the difficult parts, some not. Depends on if it feels fair. Almost all games were hard in dem ol days.
At this point i'm actually okay with the difficulty level of Rainbow Six : Vegas, I don't mind trying to alternate my attack and try new ways to eliminate the enemy. At first I was just like you, ToneDef. But, now I really don't mind it. :)
It depends on the game I guess. I actually started a proper game on Splinter Cell earlier and it was frustrating the fuck out of me, but I kept at it and got past that gay bit. Of course, the next time I got stuck I just switched that fucker off.
Switching off when you're stuck is the worst thing you can do. It makes the chance of you never continuing the game ever again a lot higher. I do it sometimes also but I try to avoid it, because if I have to start up a game the next time knowing that difficult part is going to come up, I'm very demotivated.
Uhuh. I have a lot of games unfinished. MGS 2 im pretty much at the end and have been for a couple years. so close to doing it but i got stuck and just couldn't be fucked.

It's that part where you're Raiden fighting all those Rex's. Right before that part you get hold of a sword and Snake teaches you how to use it.. But I wasn;t really paying attention and I think the sword is needed to beat those fucking Rex's. I can either try to figure out what I'm going or replay the whole game just to figure out how to use a fucking sword. It's a shame 'cause I was really into that game. I even went to watch the end sequence on youtube the other day but had to exit as I couldn't spoilt it for myself.

yeah the banter between Raiden and Rose is a bit much, still a good story though imo, you should have the missle launcher, i dont think you could get that far without it, but i havent played it in awhile

What you need to do is: Use your Stinger missile launcher , shoot into a leg of one of the RAY's, when it hits shoot the head of that piece of shit. Repeat couple of times, the bastard walks away. Then it's time to move to another one of them.. There's like 20 of them, so it's gonna take a while. GOOD LUCK!

Just make sure you have NO stolen objects in your inventory. Then steal something and just get caught. All your stolen goods will be taken away from you (thats why I told you to not have any previous stolen stuff in your inventory). Then when you get out of jail, in time the thieves guild will approach YOU.

Now that Im talking about Oblivion I cant stop. I am THE master at unlocking locks. Seriously, I can just crack any lock, the most difficult ones, with a single lockpick without breaking it. I trained like five hours real time for that. Once you master it, you feel so good. Somewhere in the game is an unbreakable lockpick but like hell if I ever use it, Im too good for that. Haha.

Today I traded F.E.A.R for Pro Evolution Soccer 6, and what a great deal. This is the best football game i've ever played. I have 4 mates I play it with, it's great fun.

Anyone have/played Lost Planet yet? I'm really impressed with it. The gameplay is refreshingly simple, kind of like old arcade shooters like Turrican (remember that?) but with some beautiful, beautiful graphics.
I also got Project 8 recently which I am impressed with, but am shit at.

I heard some kinda negative things about Lost Planet. I'll try the demo when I can be bothered though.
Yea I havent played it yet, looked extremely forward to it for half a year but it appears, from various reviews, that its just 'nice', not 'great'. Of course Im going to test it myself eventually.
The demo is actually awesome, But since then, Capcom listened to alot of feedback and have apparently ruined the game since the Demo.
Actually I think some bad stuff has been ironed out in the finished product, for example when using the sniper rifle you actually get a proper scope view. Also you can alter the aiming speed etc.
It's really good. It takes you back to the days of the megadrive/genesis when you had games where you could just hold on to the fire button indefinitely. But then when you're fighting the human forces (snow pirates arf) you have to employ a bit more strategy and use cover etc, so it's like two games in one. There is nothing like the feeling of power you get when you rip a gatling gun that's three times your size off a mech and run around with it. Also the world is really immersive, much like Halo/GoW.
One game I am REALLY looking forward to is the sequel to Mercenaries, which was a bit underrated on the Xbox, but IMO contender for one of said console's best titles.

It's absolutely worth it. I lost interest in gaming altogether. My 360 was just sitting there doing fuck all. All my friends had live and were up the arse with it but I just didn't wanna bother.
When I eventually got around to getting it though I didn't look back. The thought of my 360 without live is like going out on a Saturday night.. Seeing the most beautiful girl ever, getting talking to her, hitting it off instantly.. Only for her to tell you after 5 hours of pure chemistry that she had her tits removed the day before. Something like that anyway. In fact that's nothing like it at all but that would be fucking gayyyyyy.

If you like RPG's then get Oblivion too. If you played Morrowind you'll dislike it as it's a watered down sequel. If however you didn't play Morrowind then get it and be amazed.

I'd say the odds are about 50% of it happening to you. I've had it happen twice.
It's covered under warranty for 3 years though, if it does have that problem than you will get a refurbished one.
