Nah man, not really. Horror is dead. IMO remaking Texas Chainsaw was good as the original sucked big fucking ass. How people can sit and watch that film is just beyond me. It's fucking awful. The remake I enjoyed.

Halloween on the other hand is already good. Remaking it is just stupid. I can't say I'm looking forward to this film, no.

okay, sucks you feel that way.

i don't think horror is dead..yeah they've made a shitload of awful PG-13 horrors lately and i miss the 80's horror, but there's also been alot of good horror movies lately; high tension, the descent, hills have eyes remake, the devil's rejects, etc.

anyways, i have faith in that rob zombie will make a kickass remake.

Best remake of a classic horror I have ever seen.

I have to say, I am a little excited for this. It's hard to be worried that Rob Zombie of all people won't pull it off.

And I'm a huge Trejo fan for some reason.

I must say i am excited for this remake. and horror certaintly is not dead. ignorant comment but hey thats your opinion. Hills have eyes was a good remake , as was amityville horror( which was better than original) and texas Chainsaw massacre was a good movie remake... halloween 2007 should be interesting although honestly .... Halloween and Halloween 2 are two of the best horror movies i've ever seen

i am real anxious to see what he comes up with. however, Zombie is going to have to unleash all the tricks up his sleave to enjoy having a film that is not constantly up for criticism against a well-known classic series.

statistically, he's up against some heavy odds in taking on this project.

let's hope it great though!
Title: Re: halloween (2007)
Post by: ben on Mar 04, 2007, 11:47 PM
The problem with zombie is he thinks over-the-top gore is what you need to make a film scary...atleast that's what he did for House of a 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, and both of those films ended up hilarious.

I hope Rob knows that to even hold a small candle to the original he needs to focus the movie more in terms of a tense atmosphere than a bunch of blood and guts being thrown around.  That's what made the original so awesome.  That and the music.

Just my two cents.
Title: Re: halloween (2007)

i don't think the devil's rejects was that gory.

the violence was disturbing and i didn't find it funny at any time.

haha yeah man. i hated that movie with a passion.

i couldn't take the actors serious at all. the acting was so incredibly bad.

that movie is in my top 5 worst ever.

but hey, to each his own.
Title: Re: halloween (2007)
Post by: ben on Mar 04, 2007, 11:59 PM
nah the acting and most of the plot sucked, i was just goign to say that the disturbing scenes in that film for some reason freak me out the most every time.  Don't know why.  Maybe the low budget.

I just thought The Devil's Rejects was just funny.  I don't know, maybe it was intended that way.  I know parts of a 1,000 corpses were.

Title: Re: halloween (2007)
Post by: ben on Mar 05, 2007, 12:01 AM
It's a novelty film.  Some parts, espeacially one, made me laugh really hard the first time I saw it.  Not one of the better films of the genre.

But back to Halloween-- question. Which one is the worst (and i'm not including 3, because that's just an anomaly of shit)

I'd have to say 6 or the last one with busta rhymes.

Also, another question-- since this thread is about a remake, how about Friday the 13th being remade.  It is happening...before we know it, the story of freddy will be reinvented also.  All for a dollar.  Seems pretty silly to me.

they should be coming up with new ideas.  Hollywood is in desperate need of new ideas.  But some old movies could have been done better given new technology or better funding.  Or maybe someone just loved it so much that they wanted to play tribute.  Kind of like Deftones and "the chauffeur" or something.

no bro.  It was a good flick.

In short, you just thought way too hard about it.  Its not supposed to be a movie that makes you cry and find jesus.  Its just supposed to be mind numbing entertainment that lets you escape from life for two hours.

and dont even tell me that the acting in The texas chainsaw massacre was so much better.  That movie was just and excuse to show shots of Jessica Biel's ass.  Not that it wasn't beautiful.  But its the truth.
