i think the bluebird theater sounds better....
but yeah, we need some audio.
Sorry for my dumbness, but just to clear up, Formant had lyrics yeah?
Thanks
PS You lucky fucker!!
sick. no recordings?
anyone got anything from the first shows? pics? anything?
Man, I'm really surprised and bummed out nothing's surfaced yet. :'(
hey, guys. made it to the show, so here's my review of it.
got to the boardwalk really early, so we just chilled in the car while we watched zach hill wander aimlessly in the parking lot. doors opened at 7:30pm, but the first band didn't get on until about an hour and a half later. one of the stories of the night was an ongoing soundcheck nightmare, creating delays. monster machine didn't show up. the first band, strata, was really boring. second band, sonny, played their first live show ever. they had all kinds of sound and mic problems in the beginning, and were cut off from finishing their set because the whole show was running late. after that, some people in front of us decided to leave, so we managed to get right next to the stage. the crowd started chanting "chino", which was kinda lame. finally, they hit the stage around 11pm. everyone starts going crazy. the new songs sounded awesome. "fen fen" is a very ambient song that has chino on vocals without his guitar. "crook vs. zach" sounded very decibel devils-ish. "formant" was played just like the demo version, without vocals. it reminded me a lot of the red sparowes with all the darkness and landscape video playing in the background. "march" is a really short, yet beautiful, instrumental song that has chino speaking, not singing, a verse at the end of it. "new guitar" is another soft song that kinda reminded me of deftones' "deathblow". there was no encore. the rest of the band usually leave the stage when crook and zach play "staring at the queen". also, they didn't play the intro of "ever since WWI". it was actually the ending of staring at the queen, which had only chino and todd playing their guitars. it was awesome.
all in all, it was a good show. i was disappointed at some of the old songs they decided to play, like "ataraxia" and "foreign flag", but the new stuff more than made up for it.
i did manage to get some video, but a lot of it is too dark to watch and badly shot. i didn't go to the show with the intention of properly taping it like others, so i just took out my camera and aimed it in the general direction of the stage or wherever i thought one of the band members was. sometimes, all you see is the band with no heads or just the ceiling haha. "mercedes" however, came out beautifully and i will upload it soon. here are some pics/screens.

Out of curiosity, what was disappointing about the older songs?
Thanks for the review and pictures!

i don't know, i'm just not a big fan of those songs live. i would've loved to hear scarf bitch again along with iceache instead of those two.
here's one of the new songs they're currently playing, "new guitar". it's kinda dark and muddy sounding, but you get the general idea.

monk is it possible you can rip those videos to mp3 to make a bootleg of the show for us. that would be great.
thanks for all your help
That was one of the best songs I've ever heard. I can't believe I might have to wait till 2010 to have a studio version of that.
Thanks , Monk

like I said "might have to wait"
You should post whole show Monk :) video is good, even if it is dark :) please
Yeah monk, I know what you mean... I fucking can't stand Chino chant buddies, so annoying.
The El Corazon (Seattle) show two dumbass kids standing next to me tried to mosh during the intro to Blvd. Knights, I tossed one idiot into the other head first. I felt like an asshole, but they were pissing me off.
well, here's the mercedes video that i said i would upload. it's probably the only decent video that came out of the stuff i got. for those who want the whole thing anyway, i'll rip it when i have some spare time. also, the audio is about as good as you hear it on here, so those who want that, decide if it's worth ripping, uploading and downloading.

dufftones - Paul right? Hey it's Pat, I used to live in San Jose/Santa Cruz area, we hung out once SJSU Deftones taste of choas like '05 or '06, and I called you during the free 'Tones show @ C. Chavez park, you couldn't make the show... From the old team sleep boards... Remember me? Good seeing you. I'm living in Seattle now. Read my 'Night with Team Sleep' thread in the Team Sleep froum. Lates.
i woud love to have the audio of this concert
Yeah, this less expensive cameras which are way too close to the stage are good, but a mepg4 quaility video clip would just be amazing, like the '01 Glasshouse show of Natalie Portman. Who ever recorded that is the shit, they shot the whole show! Not sure who it was.
Mercdes is really great from this show, THANKS monk for video :)
