I really liked it.  I wasn't really wanting much from this movie, but got a lot.  I was extremely satisfied with it and I feel that it deserves repeat viewings.  Many people in the audience were not happy with the ending, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was the only intelligible way for it to end.

i just came back and i loved it.

it was really short (like 80 mins) but i still loved it. i got a headache from the camera moving so much, but it was worth it.

i think people get mad about the ending or about the movie not explaining everything. i appreciate jj abrams for making the decision to leave us in the dark.

Exactly.  I went with my girlfriend and some friends.  She loved it until the ending.  She wasn't satisfied, but we didn't deserve to know all the answers.  It was filmed by a random dude.  How should we find out what it was and where it came from?

it doesn't suck. if you wanna see an oscar worthy film, don't go see it. if you wanna see a cheesy movie about a fictional monster terrorizing a city from a first person's view, by all means do.

i don't know what people who are saying it sucked were expecting.

That's what I was thinking too.

A friend of mine saw it this weekend and hated it. She felt nauseated throughout the film because of the camera shaking so much and said it was just too cliche and cheesy. Then she didn't like the fact that there was no explanation. Some people are really upset by that type of ending, but I think in most cases it's alright.

The moving camera doesn't seem to bother me, but I'm not going to spend $10.50 at the movies either so I'll wait for it on DVD and see for myself.

but the movie is good, i liked how humour is incorporated to an otherwise serious setting, it made it realistic.

i thought the visual effects were pretty ridiculous.  i feel like it'd be hard to do all of that shit while keeping the point of view.  i wish i knew all of the logistics behind it.  the plot was a little lacking in my book, but it was pretty good for what it was.  some fine ass Bs in that movie.

the last five or so minutes were tremendously bad... the rest of the movie was ok. im not in need of an explanation for a just ending... but there is a difference between endings that are well done, and poorly done... this ending blew hard.

It was downright awesome. Surprisingly intense and "realistic". It really felt like it was actually happening.

It was different to a lot of other things recently, that's one thing I liked it for.

It wasn't 'horrifying' like Saw or a horror but had me gripped all the way through...

Definitely intense and everything was believeable, although it shouldn't have been given the synopsis!

I hadn't heard much about the movie/seen it advertised and it sounded like it was gonna be shit (i.e. the title, it was a 15 certificate here in the UK - think that's like not quite a US R) but I was surprised...

Genuinely exciting. A twist on the whole Blair Witch format. Almost like Blair Witch meets some sickening Godzilla.

Just watched this flick and really enjoyed it.

Kind of how I'd imagine the love child of the Blair Witch Project and Godzilla to turn out.The ending was a tad lame, a shot of a nuke going off would have been cooler, but over-all I thought it was well made especially after having just watched "Diary of the Dead" which attempted to do the same thing with zombies but failed epically.

In saying I really love the feel of this style of film....if done well.

8/10

I was gutted with that flick.

Romero combined with first person perspective technique in a zombie horror should have been a win/win scenario. It had the potential to be the greatest zombie film ever made.

How they managed to make it suck so bad baffles me.

i remember hearing a few years back, in some history class, that after the atomic bombs were dropped on japan, one of the few things to survive was clover. supposedly clover was everywhere at hiroshima.
so in the movie at the end they drop the A-bomb... so yeah.

also no one has mentioned the satellite falling out of the sky in the last scene at the ferris wheel....i always thought of that as awakening the monster that was living in the ocean, since that seemed to be where it came from.

yes last year was so amazing (no country, there will be blood, into the wild, jesse james, knocked up, zodiac, grindhouse, 3:10 to yuma, rescue dawn, inland empire...shit... what an amazing year this was....)

my most anticipated this year would be;

the dark knight (duh)
hellboy II: the golden army (looks da bomb!)
the curious case of benjamin button

I watched this movie at the cinema. I hadn't been for a little while but I knew I had to go see it how it was meant to be seen.

If you waited for the DVD or whatever then too bad, you missed out. A fantastic fucking film. Really enjoyable.

I didn't notice the satellite at the time but after I watched it I checked all that shit out. Pretty cool.

All that "It's the worst movie I have ever seen!!!" shit pisses me off. There was a lot of that around this movie. I mean really.. Was this really the worst movie you ever saw? Did you even see it? Are you just an internet movie forum fag?

I saw this movie Saturday night, and I agree that I may have missed out a bit by not seeing it in theatres.    It was an edge of your seat movie...    I was kind of like... Ohhh god, you got Cloverfield?!?   And then I sat to watch it, half miffed about watching it... and from the beginning I was drawn in.   I was stoned when I watched it, which only added to the OMG factor!      So, even tho I am sure I missed out on some more of the intensity of watching it in theatre with the sound quality and huge screen.....   I still loved what I got out of it laying on the bed... chilled out.. watching it on my 50' Hitachi 1080P with surround.   =o)

I tend to find those types of opinions and critique are 99% of the time fueled by little else than unrealistic expectations especially if the post contains little more than "I saw it...it sucked hairy ballbags".

The hype over this films trailers was bound to lead to many being totally underwhelmed.

If I dislike a film I at least like to explain why and give my opinion actual relevance.10 word posts on how much a film sucked hold little water imo, at least try to make it interesting reading.

In all honesty it wasnt bad, I was sitting front row in the theatres and just ruined the whole experience, plus I thought I was gunna yack. Plus the story was sort of retarted, like why the hell did all the friends go with that one guy? I would have been like "you want to go back into the city? later dude!"

And the ending was just BS.

When I watched Cloverfield I quite liked it, though most of the twists in the storyline were absurd (Corleone's example - why would a person ever follow someone straight to death? I'd say it's your problem, I am choosing to survive, and don't talk about heroism or loyalty to friends here), but I liked the way it was filmed, and it was quite an intense experience.

I don't know man, I'm not so sure you'd just say "fuck it, I'm on my own" in a situation like that. obviously the others tried to stop Rob from going in the first place. Hub even threatened to tackle him. but I guess they just realized that he would be going no matter what, and that maybe the best thing was to stick together after all. not for survival, but for the fact that they knew they couldn't get out of the city and they didn't want to be alone in all that chaos. I'm pretty sure I'd want to stick with my friends/family or whoever I knew around me.

Family - yes, most of the friends - no, only the closest ones that could not be 'replaced'. Cause people come and go, damn it!

haha, I hear you man. but my point was that I don't think you'll make that judgement in that situation. I think you'll just be glad that you're with someone you know and not all alone.
