wes welker is unstoppable. i can't believe eli manning had it in him. i loved every minute of it.

probably the best super bowl ive ever seen.  the only one that comes close was titans vs rams a few years back

my friend leon from work made a good point. as to why brett wont go to the bears

brett favre has always needed a good running back who can catch a lot of swing passes. and catch other types of throws in the backfield

the bears dont have that

the vikings might be a great fit
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Jul 13, 2008, 08:16 AM
true that, bears running backs have not been the same since they traded thomas jones. actually theyve never had a real good running back that can catch a ball.

but yeah the vikes need a QB and the combo of favre and peterson would be lethal
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: goldpony on Jul 14, 2008, 12:15 AM
if favre comes back, i think he'll have a hard time with another team. hes gotten really sloppy the last few years (i know he put up good numbers last year) who needs good players to make him look good. he needs to stay retired. besides, it would be a travesty if he went to another team

All sports are bought out by mobs, always have been, and Trust me the cowboys are some bought motherfuckers this year, oh yes, my favorite team has been bought 5 times already for this trophy, and Tony Romo just admitted it on the last Hard Knocks!

dallas will probably lose to  green bay this week.
oh and you better worry about tony romo actually winning a playoff game. before you talk about how great he is.

last nights mon. night football game between dallas and philly had to be one of the most action packed first halfs ive ever seen.

that should be a great game. I know we are only 2 weeks in, but there are some big surprises already this season. I cant believe the Vikings and Chargers are 0-2. and I can't wait till the Pats fall off, theres no way Matt Cassel can replace Brady.
and Kurt Warner seems to be back, the Cards and Raiders have been surprising so far.

i fuckin love football

yeah looking really good. 8-0 now.

this was a good week. the eagles looked good. and the cowboys and the redskins lost. with the cowboys looking like shit the eagles still have a chance, if they continue to play like they have. but we have a rough schedule so....

at least you have a defense. and a coach. the bears have 4 defensive players with quarterback salaries and they still suck.
and seriously, we may have the worst coaching staff in the NFL with Lovie and our POS defensive coordinator

yeah our defense looked tight. but we should have raped the bengals, our offense looked like they couldn't care less. and i like andy reid but he shouldn't be calling our plays. i'm sure this is the last year for mcnabb and reid. mcnabb contract is up and i doubt the eagles will give him a good offer if he even wants to stay. i've been hearing for a while he wants to go over to your bears where he from.

that would be awesome. i am a fan of kyle orton, but mcnabb would definitely be a step up.
i just really am pissed off at our coaching staff and management. they just don't seem to want to win, unlike other sport teams in this city.

yeah you definitly need a new quarterback. that was just poor decision making, only one of those wasn't his fault.

Tony Dungy's retiring. Was a great coach. In a perfect world (aka MY dreams) he would be coaching in Chicago, and I wouldn't swearing every time I see our hack of a head coach on tv.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: goldpony on Jan 12, 2009, 11:52 PM
i dont think you can entirely blame the coach in chicago, i think the blame starts by NOT DRAFTING A FREAKIN QUARTERBACK....EVER
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Jan 13, 2009, 01:54 AM
haha ok part of the blame from me is towards the GM too, I'll admit. But to his credit, we actually have drafted QBs. I can think of 4 off the top of my head from the last 7-8 years or so: Cade McNown (worst ever), Sexy Rexy Grossman (plagued by being short and having small, carny hands), Chris Leak (from the Florida championship team, got cut in training camp), and Orton.

But still, anyone picked in the first or even second round always sucks (Curtis Enis and Cedric Benson at RB). So I really should be blaming the GM more, but I still hate Lovie. He's a fuckin idiot who refuses to see that the "defense" he likes will never work with the players we pay $100 million each season.

I don't think anyone outside this city realizes how stupid this franchise is. The owners have always been cheap ass-faces for 80 years or whatever it's been. Then Lovie Smith's personality is what his name is. The ENTIRE coaching staff is his friends. Just yesterday we hired Rod Marinelli (the SAME GODDAMN guy who coached the 0-16 Lions). Why? I don't know, maybe because for the last month Jerry Angelo (our GM) and Lovie Smith have praising him as their best friend for years (**makes wanking motion**).

Lovie is lovey dovey. It's the best way to describe his philosophy. He was zero discipline over his players, who are jackasses to the media. He lets those players bring their iPhones and Blackberries to the sideline DURING GAMES. Seriously. My high school marching band director was a 1000 times better disciplinarian.

We did get Devin Hester. Good player, everyone knows it. So what does the franchise do? Make him practice and concentrate on being a wide receiver. If you want a stud WR, go out and get a fucking wide receiver.

Sorry I ranted but I really am that pissed off with the team (I now know how the Cub fans of the Chicago feel). Thank god I'm a Sox fan, and Blackhawks are doing well now.

What a game.

i feel asleep around the end of the 3rd. usually i can watch any game any two teams and enjoy the game. but i guess i'm still salty about the eagles getting so close and blowing it. i was just not into the game at all. but i watch the highlights to see what i missed and that holmes catch was pretty freakin' sweet.

when i saw how much time was left after the last Zona drive, i had a feeling Ben would come through. i dont know, if Zona didnt have 100+ yards in penalties, they might have won (and if that pass doesnt get intercepted, srsly, how do they not catch harrison sooner?)

Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Feb 03, 2009, 06:49 AM
Arizona did kind of get screwed though, in all honesty. Pittsburgh had some penalties too, but it just seemed like the Cardinals were getting called for the smallest things. Then there was the punching Harrison did on that punt in the 4th quarter. He easily could've been ejected for that. Then there was Santonio Holmes' TD catch celebration. Celebrations are obviously a-ok, but 99% of the time a penalty is called when they use props. If there is a penalty, that adds 15 yards onto that final drive for the Cards.

and how the hell could they not even review the last play of the game? It's the goddamn Super Bowl with 5 seconds left. All in all it was still an intense game, which is good, but it was nothing compared to last year's awesomeness.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread

well next season is probably going to suck. we just lost half our god damn team. including dawkins, which was practically our whole defense. that was fucking retarded, we didn't even try to keep him. and every one i've heard we're looking at is okay but no one great. this blows.

owens got cut. we should take him back. i don't care how much the asshole runs his mouth. him and mcnab were great together on the field.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread

The Saints better protect Brees better or they might not even make it to the NFC Championship.
As far as the AFC, I think the Chargers have just as good as a chance to make it to the Super Bowl as the Colts.

why?

why do you hope we lose?

you gotta understand man, the saints have been straight up losers for 40 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!

and another thing, in this city the saints are more than football! its about the spirit and the faith. BELIEVE!

if the saints won the superbowl it would mean so much to the heart of this city you cant even begin to fathom.  the city is rebuilding, and alot of the essence on the street derives from the "hype" of the saints.
and the "who dat" has become ridiculous to the point of overdoing it. but we cant overdue it.
it's become a battle cry. anywhere you go in the city you hear it! its amazing really! i wish you could be a part of it.
new orleans is a great place and deserves the best. the people are happy despite its losses.

so why cant we just get ours? let us have our moment.. pull for us...

it's our chance.. a win here means more than any other city or team i GUARANTEE

well i'm from philly. die hard eagles fan. and sports are just as important to this city. and the eagles have never won a superbowl...we have been a damn good team for the majority of the teams history. but always come up short when it counts. so no i am not going to "pull" for the saints. nothing against them or you. but the saints winning would mean that the eagles lost. i feel bad for anyone who suffered from the katrina tragedy, but not enough to root for any team but mine.

and again it has nothing to do with the team, the city, or the people. its that annoying "who dat" shit.

yeah thats cool. i know alot of people who hate the eagles because of the fans. we are well known for being violent and beligerent. i don't fall into that category, but know plenty of people who do.

glad to hear you pull for vick though. what he did was wrong and fucked up, but he served his time. this is america the land of 2nd chances. i was really happy for him to have gotten his first TD (and then another) while returning to atlanta.

but in football terms the bengals used it first, just slightly different. and it made much more sense at the time cause they went to the superbowl the year they started it 81. and in 88. they were good in the 70s and 80s before the curse of bo jackson. who dat started in a mediocre 8-8 season, during their 20 straight years without a winning record. bad timing, and copying the bengals make it annoying. get your own chant in other words

Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Jan 11, 2010, 06:04 PM
arizona doesn't have much of a defense, either, which is exactly why I am looking forward to seeing that Saints/Cards game. Should be a good old shootout. But I could be wrong, I thought the Jets and Cowboys would lose, and I didn't realize the absence of Wes Welker was THAT big. Damn.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: wither-I on Jan 12, 2010, 06:51 AM
welker's replacement is one bout it little dude! he runs hard. brady was just off and i honestly think the ravens are just a better team.

the jets are a solid team but i dont think they will be able to keep pace with san diego. but they have mad defense.

my prediction is still saints and chargers at the big dance

and i got tickets :)
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: devlin on Jan 16, 2010, 02:35 PM
i'm picking for this weekends games:
chargers
colts
cardinals
vikings.

i like the jets. but don't think they can handle the chargers. i pick the cardinals, but think it comes down to how warner plays. whether he throws for 5 TDs or 5 INTs will determine the game. the ravens are hot right now but i think peyton will stop them. and i would probably pick the cowboys, but i hate them and can not bring myself to do that.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Jan 16, 2010, 08:22 PM
i've got:

chargers (i'm rooting for the jets)
colts
cardinals (saints really have not played well at all the last month)
cowboys (even though i despise them)

should be some great games, though. especially after last week's weak games.

Chargers
colts
saints
cowboys

I'm picking the saints and the colts with high hopes even tho they're going in with absolutely no momentum. I wouldn't be surprised if bmore pulls  the upset.

I have no idea how these coaches find any QBs these days. if you think about it, the highly touted college QBs almost always fail within a couple seasons, especially the Heisman winners. Bradford at least has a better shot at the pros than, say that Tim Tebow.

I agree I think Tim and Sam with both bust out. And your right its so hard to find a good QB look at Tom Brady he was picked up in the six round 199th pick! So its like trying to find a good QB in a needle in a hay stack, you never know what you might get.

thank you kleptoned. i was ignoring all the haters. i'm used to it here where the majority of eagles fans rip the guy apart. but he is a really good qb who just hasn't won a superbowl yet. although as much as i like him at this point i hope he never does win a superbow,l unless he switches teams out of the division.  yes he has choked in the past but i say he carried a lacking team much more than haltered them.

and to stapezee what makes you say that "he thinks he's the shit"? I've been watching interviews and press conferences for his 11 yrs and find him to be a very modest, good humored, down to earth guy.

and bright lights the redskins don't throw around "some" money. they are the richest franchise in the league and are known for throwing around HUGE money ALL the time. they are notorious for spending big bucks on players that flop. case and point haynesworth, who they are talking about getting rid of and would still have to pay him 21 million dollars. LOL.

Idk man I've always heard that he's a cocky sob and tough to get along with in the locker room.  I don't know the guy or anything but I really don't think he's gonna help Washington.  And I really do feel that he is over rated.  Just my opinion tho....

it's amazing that the NFL is making an even bigger deal about their draft now, with in being over multiple days. i mean, i admit that i watch the draft like a normal football fan, but now this is getting ridiculous how full of themselves they are with it being moved into during the week and in primetime.

thank god the bears fucked themselves out of any draftpicks this year so i don't need to watch any of it. sorry, this was me venting.

Haha, no worries.  I've done my best to be blissfully ignorant this football season.  It started sounding, even as early as September, that it was gonna be a fucking fiasco, so I've been avoiding it like the plague and sparing myself a whole lot of disappointment.  The shitty part is is we traded all of our fucking draft picks for the next couple years for Moss, and now we don't/won't have a good QB for the forseeable future.  It's just a fistfuck.

Do you guys just have a schedule full of Viking-like teams this year or what?

Yeah, we'll see about all of that. I personally don't really give a shit if they strike. I'm so goddamn fed up with all of these whiny fucking bitches begging for a taxpayer-funded stadiums (not saying football is the only sport sucking off the welfare-for-the-millionaire/billionaire teat) and a fucking raise. Not that they don't work hard or whatever, but it's just so much bullshit when they threaten to move cities or strike because state legislatures haven't yet bought into their retarded "economic multiplier" logic. I would have a perma-boner if I got to be the one to tell these rich pussies to go pound some fuckin sand. Thank you San Francisco Giants for proving you don't need to fuck everybody in your state who doesn't give a shit about your sport out of their money to win a title.

fuck no. i'm really pissed off at other players, current and retired, bashing him on espn, twitter, etc. actually i'm pissed at a lot of the fans here. seriously, people bitched about having grossman and countless other quarterbacks that sucked, and now we have a QB with talent, and people are burning his jersey because he didn't look injured enough. those people are probably the faction of bears fans that are also cubs fans.

People should be more pissed with Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith for signing Todd Collins and insisting that he be the number 2 QB, amongst all the other shitty deals Angelo's made in the last decade. who knows, those couple possessions Collins was in yesterday, instead of Hanie, could've resulted in a scoring drive or 2.

I'll just end this rant with what i posted on facebook earlier today:
I don't get Chicago fans hating on Cutler. The guy had no WRs, diabetes, and an inept offensive line, and still won the division and got to the NFC championship. That's a success. Now let's just unite and run Todd Collins and his 1.9 (rounded up) QB rating out of town.

I know man, Bmore can suck it hard on occasion, and usually that occasion is the playoffs. But Ravens at home is a completely different story. They haven't won the division in a long time, it's usually the steelers (so glad Denver beat their ass btw). Also I think the 9ers are way overrated. If seeding was like NCAA basketball, based on strength of schedule and gameplay, they'd be wayyy far down the NFC list.

Am I wrong in stating that the Super Bowl was atrocious? I was Patriots all the way, but still the first 3 quarters were boring, the commercials for the most part were lame (that's normal though), Madonna was brutal, the announcers were tugging on Eli's weiner the whole game.

Then I wake up today and the tv's all like "what a great, exciting Super Bowl" and "Madonna's still got it".

Fuck it.

Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: jbmp1390 on Sep 26, 2012, 06:18 PM
I think it's funny that now everyone acts like the old refs were so fucking great. The NFL, NBA, and MLB are all SO FUCKED UP, in SO MANY WAYS at this point that I have just stopped watching. It makes me sad to be an American. Just the complete fucking lack of sportsmanship by anyone involved. Players, owners, coaches, officials, EVERYONE. I realize it's about money and careers but everyone needs to remember that it's also just a game. A game that used to be mostly about 2 things, Respect and Sportsmanship. That's been completely lost by everyone involved at this point, especially the fans. It's really sad that something like a football game can piss everyone off this bad. I love sports too but I was watching ESPN yesterday watching a bunch of my fellow Americans bitch like teenagers about the NFL, and I feel like I had an epiphany. It's a fucking game, and if we're unhappy with the outcome, we don't have to watch it. Sports are great, but we all have way more important shit to worry about in this country right now. I just think it's dumb to let a football game ruin your life lol
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Sep 26, 2012, 07:43 PM
You're absolutely right. Mistakes always happen with umps and refs. But this is just atrocious with the quality of the game being blown away and the owners and players basically not giving a damn. It's all bullshit. The safety issue, the fact that the players care. To settle this strike, each team owner needs to pony up $100,000. They each make more than that in one quarter of one game.

This needs to get settled ASAP for at least the league to show any sort of notion to its fans that they give a damn. If not, the players should boycott out of solidarity. But we all know that won't happen. I'm very close to joining you in completely giving it up. I'm close too, because the main reason I have been watching is just to make fun of the entire Bears organization.

Anyone notice that FOX and CBS kind of ignored this situation. I heard a passing mention of it in the highlights on FOX, but that's it. I don't even get why they played only 24 hours after this happened.

Amazing that we got at least 3 rookie QBs playing some stellar football. And if it wasn't for Peyton, RG3 probably would be up for MVP if Washington indeed makes the playoffs.

I think Lovie was a good coach that just ccouldnt get it done. I heard the bears are looking at the Cowboys Special teams coordinator for HC. And that would be an awesome super bowl but the Broncos are going to be difficult to beat so will the Patriots.

The Broncos OC is a top choice supposedly. He seems legit. Don't really know who I'd want honestly. I hate Gruden, Cowher's been out for too long, and Reid... I probably wouldn't mind. Part of me hopes the Oregon coach or Notre Dame coach gets a shot here, but I'll support the coach.

New coach just brings hope, and that might put a 10-win team over the top next year. Plus the only person in the Bears management I like now is the new GM, so I got faith in him.

Well Reids going to the cheifs i guess having the first pick in this draft got him excited. Really I think the Bears should look at Norv turnner maybe not as HC but as a OC he could work wonders with that offensive group

That's cool man, but don't side with popular opinions, they're all assholes, everyone has them...

but check this out, 2 years ago the shitty giants which beat dallas out of the playoffs by a field goal won the super bowl at 9-7 and guess what? they had to play san Francisco at they're homefield to get into the superbowl. dallas earlier that year beat the 49ers at they're ball park when tony injured his ribs. so not only were dallas a field goal out of the playoffs but from a trophy in all reality.

plus this year there is absolutely no question they will win the east. with all due respect I think they will go 12-4 and lose to Atlanta at the conference game and set it up for next year.

....then again hell we'll take our 6th super bowl ring now!

Not siding with popular opinion, basing it on that I've watched Dallas shit the bed every season.  They had 6 takeaways and barely beat a mediocre Giants team. The offensive line is going to get Romo crippled.

Giants are always good especially on offense, they always have big plays with nicks and cruz. luckily those takeaways won the game. this defense is what they've needed these past 2 years. plus they lead the game the entire game, last year they were behind every single game. let's just watch them rack up the wins however they may, shall we?

it will be a good season.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: kurtone on Sep 12, 2013, 09:26 AM
I think the NFC East will be a tight race again.  Dallas definitely needs more of a run game, but I think maybe Callahan was keeping Romo to short yardage throws because he knows that Romo tends to trust his arm too much. I've been a Romo supporter for years but have just about lost all faith in the guy. Maybe the new OC knows to keep Romo reigned in a bit.  I've always argued big D have the offensive weapons to put up points but don't due to lack of O line and shitty play calling.

I really like romo. 5th best qb in the league and holds the most important statistic: 3rd all time QB rating, no.1 out of current QB's...to me its all about defense which it looks like we've finally got going on with all the new DB's and a healthy sean lee (captain.) also yes the running game definitely. if murray stays healthy that will be very helpful.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: bright lights, big city on Sep 12, 2013, 04:26 PM
Might be a tight race because the teams all stink. Romo and the team in general are major chokers, we all know that. They needed all 6 turnovers to win a home game in week 1.

Washington looked bad too. Their entire season hinges on RG3's knee, and they still have one of the toughest schedule in the league.
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: kurtone on Sep 12, 2013, 09:37 PM
I think they rushed RG3 back, Shanny is going to wind up getting the guy hurt worse.  I don't think Chip Kelly can keep the Eagles running at that speed the entire season, eventually Vick is going to get hurt. I would imagine 9-7 will probably win the division, again lol.

12-4 for the cowboys idk I've been a cowboys fan all my life so don't take this as a cowboy hater thing. But I just cant find 12 wins for them. after week 5 they'll have two losses. I don't think they have a shot in hell at the broncos. Just because Peyton seems to have found his arm again. And thinks he has something to prove. And with two tough road games with the saints and bears I don't see them beating those two. Then you have the division which I think they will win I say they split with the giants and sweep the Skins and eagle's because let's be honest RGIII isn't himself and probably won't be till very late into the year. And that defense is horrible. And there is no way Vick makes it the whole year. He just can't. Then there's that green bay team and that Rogers guy he looks kinda good. That will be a shoot out. And I just don't trust this team enough to be able to hold on and win this one. Even though they have no one that can  cover Dez. So that leaves us with the possibility of 10 wins. And there right after the Eagles game, which I see them winning, is the classic Lion trap game after a hard fought road win. I Got them at 9-7 winning the east on the last game of the season finally. And the make some noise in the play offs. No super bowl but I think they'll be close. I think they are a guard and a DT away from being something special. Now this could go either way. They could prove me wrong and go into the Superdome or Soldierfield and pull out a win but then they could just as easily drop one or two maybe even three to the chargers rams or Vikings. And that's the thing they haven't proven they can win the games they should or pull out a tough win on the road. And after what I saw From  Callahan last week I mean really dez abused mistreated and stepped on Brandon Flowers all day and you've got him one on one with one of the most explosive players in the league you take that everyday all day. But no its a screen!? to a rookie and a field goal in a game you lose by one point. You can't do that. Not if you want to go do the things they want to do. Dallas has suffered from always trying to play chess when football is much more like checkers. Its a simple game and it starts with having the best athletes. And I challenge you to find better ones anywhere in the NFL. Its all about miss matches. And there are plenty everywhere on that offense Dez can't be covered and if they want to double him OK give me witten one on one with any linebacker or safety. Then there's Austin who isn't that far removed from being in that top 10 mode. You can't double them all. So to me its all about design with the cowboys. It hasn't been about talent for awhile. I do think they can. Get there but it will take A loss of ego on the part of Garrett and Callahan.  And idk  if Garrett can get to that point because he's a smart guy and smart guys always think they are the smartest person in the room. He'll probably make a Superbowl just on sheer talent but he's been the one constant for the past 6 years and everything is in place for him to succeed. And damn that was long.

They won't win shit until Jerry dies, and even then fans will have to worry if his son is just like he is. I seriously think any fan could take a copy of the latest Madden game and build a better game plan than what the offensive coordinator and garrett come up with. But hey at the least the defense looks better. Notice too how Dallas always plays down to the competition, they can  play a team like the broncos and hang, yet they play a shit team like the raiders and will probably struggle to beat them. For being a ivy league grad garrett doesn't seem to know jack shit.

I've never known the cowboys to have an easy schedule, they always got it rough beginning with the division, the division that has won the most super bowls, the teams in it are always capable of winning any game they play. I predicted RG3 would have it rough, but just like Jordan in his sophomore year, he will come back and score 69 points against the Celtics, but he'll still lose 2 to the 'boys. I think they'll split with the Eagles because they are very good, and I believe vick will play smarter and last 16 games, take 2nd in east. Eli will always be a threat for big plays with his WR's but dallas with snatch 2 from them and finish 5-1 in the east.

yeah I think they'll lose to the broncos too, but that contradicts that I think they'll finish 8-0 at home, we'll see I hope they win and finish at least 7-1 at home.

IMO the saints/cowboys has been the new NFL rivalry for the last 7 years, that's basically my two favorite teams, but I think dallas will catch them this year.

They'll make a mockery of green bay's lack of a running game and slow them down with all our new DB's. win.

As for the Kansas game, I knew it would be close, but not with that outcome. tony was throwing precision passes to dez, tight beautiful throws. then in the 4th quarter KC db's had everybody locked up and tony was basically throwing them away not to get sacked or intercepted. The whole thing is demarco needs to motherfucking open this game up with his legs, I'm getting real sick of them having no running game when we have the history of the best running back ever!

It's all about the running game at this point.

Claiborne's problem is he hasn't played much he's been hurt pretty much since we drafted him. He's going to be a good player just needs the time on the field. Cornerback is probably the most difficult position to play you have to shadow a receiver who's one of the fastest players on the field and could  break any way at any time. Oh and you can't touch them past 5 yards.

i'm glad we lost to Denver that way, that was the most righteous loss in the history of the nfl. romo almost put the highest qb rating in a single game in history if it weren't for that pick. So far the broncos are the most successful offense in the history of the nfl and dallas matched them tit for tat. that speaks volumes. here comes a winning streak. I still say 12-4, maybe 11-5. we have to play new Orleans, that's my second favorite team. I actually hope new Orleans wins another super bowl this year, they got robbed 2 years ago.

Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread
Post by: SwerveCityUSA on Oct 22, 2013, 02:59 AM
yep, i'm depressed about native boy Sam Bradford. he didn't even actually get injured if you watched the play, they just don't want him to rack up stats and have a native American quarterback be the greatest. oh well.

Same with Vick, he's not even injured, did you see him on the supposed play where he got injured? that was bad acting. he even said he could've kept playing. then foles steps in and has a good game and then all the sudden the headlines read "vick's injury more serious than was thought." over a week later.

bullshit, nfl doesn't want to see the righteous survive. same with racist jew Snyder saying "we will never change the redskins name." what a forward thinking, respectful man.

lmao, wow, I really hate racist shit like that, but that was funny. still its fucked up.

But yes, Lawrence o donnel had a great point on this and synder's point of view.

the fact is, it's very offensive. but you know what, I'm the one that could care less about the name, but that's not even the point, its the principle, period. just don't have names like that, there was never a reason to in the first place. except to celebrate racism which is what they've been doing for 81 years, and this entire western hemisphere for 521 years, since Columbus.

Furthermore, in synder's reasoning to keep the name, he said the original coach and 4 starters were native americans. cool, then show some respect.

he said, also it is to celebrate native American history. ok then why not tell some? let's start with the iruqois confederacy right there in Washington who wrote "the great law of peace" in the 12th century, the manuscript which later became the main article that "the founding fathers" based the constitution on. this fact also was recognized under the Reagan administration in 1986.

How about, also that Native Americans at Carlisle in the early 1900's established the passing game, before that it was strictly hand off's and tosses.

I could go on. if they were sincere about what they say, they would act on it, and change the name and celebrate true history.

also, I love the subtle things Obama does, like saying "if it was offending a sizeable group of people, I would think about changing it." He always sticks up for righteousness.

I still think dallas will go 12-4. Vick was doing so good, what up with a hammy? and RG3 is coming back strong just like MJ in his second year coming off that ankle break only to drop 69 bones on the Celtics in the playoffs. and eli still does throw bombs, ive never liked him or the giants, but damn he will piss you off and hit a WR for a touchdown out of nowhere.

it might be a stretch for me to say dallas will win the last 8 games, but I only see them losing to the saints and packers and getting to 10-6 for sure. but I will say they most certainly can beat anyone on any given sunday. but to say the gaints will comeback is way too much crack in your brain.

my guess

1 dallas 10-6
2 eagles 8-8
3 washington 7-9
4 giants 5-11

keep in mind dallas is undefeated in the division and 3-1 at home so far.

If there is a way to lose a game, Dallas will find it. Good teams find a way to win, and sad to say, this team just isn't very good.  I don't blame Dez for blowing up, he seems to be the only player on the team with any heart, everyone else seems to still be stuck with that complacent Wade Phillips "we lost but its ok we'll work on it" attitude. I don't see any teams out of this division getting 10 wins.

Anyway, enough about big D, there's 31 other teams in the NFL. What does everyone think so far halfway through the season? Hard to believe the Chiefs are 8-0. Although the Broncos are still winning, Peyton has kind of regressed since the Dallas game. You think the Jags or Bucs will ever get a win?

the only thing bad about dallas is the defense, they've been giving up record numbers. just proves how awesome their offense is, even when they don't have a running game. just the best qb and 5 good receivers.

Post by: Hank on Nov 19, 2013, 07:21 AM
they have somewhat of a defense this year. So who knows...
They got by this week because of a bullshit call..but that serves the team they were playing right from all those Montana/Young/Rice years they got away with the same shit (favoritism by refs).

The bandwagon and support for this franchise ( since the hurricane) has made me nauseous since Benson was about to sell the team to San Antonio during the worse time this team has ever seen and it took tax payer money for them to stay  ...I understand the fans from out of state that have"supported" this team ( hurricane pity) but its bullshit with the fans here.....as crazy as it sounds I'm ashamed to be a Saints fan here in New Orleans present day.

This fan base hated this team ( since the Dome Patrol when they were ripping shit up and had a shit offense ,until they finally won the big one in 2010) and didn't properly support them even in the darkest days until the media told the masses they were "worthy" .

FUCK A "who dat nation"...fucking front running shit.

love the Saints . hate the fanbase.

hilarious...so bro

Amazing how shitty the refs have been this season, and no one's really that pissed off with them. Last year with the replacements, all hell was breaking loose. That SF-Brees penalty was bullshit, as was the last play of the Pats-Panthers game last night with the picked up flag in the endzone.

Also, I want to like the Panthers, but could they have any more unlikable players?
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread

don't bitch. patriots had plenty calls go for them that game, especially that added two seconds to even make that play possible. brady through it right to the defender, it wasn't even possible for that Russian motherfucker to catch it. but yes it was a stupid play by the linebacker, could've cost the game.

the panthers are one of my favorite teams, cam is the best, what's not to like?
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread

Ya boy Cam is not to like, that's who. His need to do his Superman pose, his first down celebrations. His college days don't help his cause either. But win something, and earn the right the celebrate.

Greg Olsen and Steve Smith are shitheads too.

And I don't mean come across as bitching for the Pats, just thought that was horrible way to end the game. THat and the refs are garbage, haha.

fuck winning. I'm all about stats. and cam has the best, he's fucking up marino and all the "greats" in a big way. he's got the most complete game any quarterback ever had.

Isn't the reason to enjoy to sports is because you want to win? But my point is, when a QB is 20-22 as of right now for his career record, you don't have the right to be a cocky prick.

I think these upcoming weeks(leading into the playoffs) will probably have the most violent display of hits we have seen in a while.
They want to make this game so safe but are making it even more violent in the process. A shitload of rule changes will have to take place come next season ( except the ones protecting star players/QB's).

Just make these dudes sign a waiver or something already...all that shit with the Pats and Panthers game a couple days ago was utter bullshit also..It was dead once it was intercepted .fuck who got held or whatever...

he's absolutely slaughtering they're stats. albeit part of that is the new rules which are geared towards quarterback domination. nevertheless he's so much better than them, what's so absurd about that?

No that's the wrong thing to enjoy sports "because you want to win." at the end of the year, isn't it only one team that wins anyway? can't a 9-7 giants still win the super (2012?), yes, any given sunday.

is that his record 20-22? yeah, they're record as a team for he came was like 20-40. and this year he's 7-3, so back up.

also dan marino and all those fags got to sit in the pocket for 17 seasons and rack up stats, getting no super bowls or anything in the process, so why can't he, especially when he's doing even better?
Title: Re: The NFL (football) thread

the whole thing is absurd because he's only in his 3rd season. No one slaughters anyone's stats that early in a career (or 10 games into one season). And yeah ok, take away that 7-3 record this season, and you can see how much shittier that team was in 2011 and 2012.

enough with winning, it's over rated. I thought you guys were punk rockers anyway? where is the DIY spirit?

12-6 as in they will make it to the conference and play new Orleans and lose.

the eagles just blew a load to the last place Vikings, that was awesome. I'm so waiting for fag foles to fail. I hate that motherfucker and that racist bitch cooper. fuck em. do you really think foles is the real deal? what hes done is magnifiscent, more so than any big time quarterback in history. he will fail big time at some point, because he's not fan material, nobody truly wants to wear his jersey or anything.

anyway, that would be insane for dallas not to win these last two, but I think it was all marketed. how could the last 3 seasons all be exactly the same in every way? like for instance, '11 and '12 they only lost 1 game by more than 7 points (one possession) and went 8-8 both times and came a field goal short of winning the division, that's too dramatic, it has to be scripted. and now the same fucking thing the 3rd year in a row? bullshit, this is Hollywood. funny thing is LA is gonna come through for dallas this year. 9-7 and some playoff heroics.

Dallas is stuck in mediocrity because the owner doesn't know how to get out of the teams way. You can't win when you overpay mediocre players and get stuck in salary cap hell. No depth. Plus he hires yes men as coaches. Jason Garrett doesn't know jack shit about running a football team. The coordinators are fucking clueless and can't adjust to anything.  Even if Dallas somehow makes the playoffs they'll just end up getting embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs. But ol Jerrah will still think there just one more shitty draft pick away from getting a ring.

no no no, don't give me the same material I hear all the time about Jerry who brought 3 super bowls to dallas texas. everybody points their finger at him, I like that southern white man, probably the only one I like. plus dallas offense is kickin ass, 1,000 yard running back, 100 rating QB top 3 Receiver. Besides Emmitt, they have a better offense than they did in the 90's. but you can't let a defense give up a 26 point lead and make ZERO stops. anyone and everyone will lose if they had to deal with that. they have the worst defense in the history of the NFL, that's a fact, not an excuse. and that's the only thing that makes me wanna eat my words.

nevertheless, i still think their gonna pull there 22nd division title. the most in history by any team. as well as 31st playoff appearance. also, the most by any team.

How fitting as a Bears fan to go against the Pack on the last day of the season for the division title, where Rodgers will probably ride in on a white horse and beat the rotting corpse that is the Bears' defense. And Cutler is probably playing for his job too.

Meanwhile Orton (who was swapped for Cutler) and his beautiful hair will also be playing for a division title. I was a big of Orton fan back in the day, but he can't match was the Eagles have been doing. Can Dallas' defense even stop Philly? Like once?

Dallas man. Breaks my heart to see such a once prestigious team shit the bed every year. I'm 28 so I remember the three titles jimmy brought the franchise.  Orton played well tonight for the situation he was in. I told my friends they can't tell me "if romo wasn't the qb Dallas would win" anymore. It's like its in their DNA to lose. I think it starts with the ownership, then coaching. Sadly I wonder if I'll see Dallas get the 6th ring in my lifetime.

Also, I'm never one to blame officiating and shit like that. But come the fuck on with that play clock gaffe in the 4th quarter.  Dallas got screwed.

Man idk if we can get to 6 wins the first 10 games of dallas' schedule is brutal. they might win 2 maybe 3 games. i think they'll beat the giants twice and the redskins once.  but the eagles will most likely sweep McCoy might set the new single game rushing yards record. and they could probably beat the cardinals. so a top 10 pick next year would be pretty sweet. and this cycle of mediocrity is horrible.

I really don't think Philly can repeat last year. No way Foles can have another great year, especially without Jackson. I think it's the Cowboys division for the taking, unless RG3 goes full on MVP.

Dallas schedule is tough. And the d is weak. I'm afraid romo is one good shot away from the IR as well. I'm predicting 8-8 at best. I think it will be a repeat of last year where the offense is going to have to be firing on all cylinders to win games. I'm still on the fence about foles. I do think the eagles take the division though. I think we've seen all there is of rg3. Wouldn't surprise me if cousins is starting by mid season.

Im not worried about Romo's back the national narrative is that he had major surgery and his back is held together with toothpicks Elmer's glue and hope. But in reality all he had was a Microdiscetomy which is where they go in and remove a small portion of your disk that had either broken off or is pressing on your spinal nerve. they also say well its his second back surgery in 2 years. Yes the location of the first surgery was on his back but it was just to remove a cyst. I can show you a few youtube videos of people doing that in their back yard. While the second was a structural surgery its not anything like what Peyton Manning had done. Peyton couldnt throw a ball, or even do a push up. But it is true any player is one good hit away from IR or ending their career. Dallas just had second year LB Devonte Holloman see his career end from one hit against the Ravens. Football is a violent sport and at anytime it could be over.  I think Romo will be fine. But that D is possibly historically bad. No one outside of Barry Church offers any kind of confidence. And I agree Foles can't be as good as he was last year but that not a knock against him. You cant possibly ask him to repeat a 27 TD 3INT season thats just unheard of. But he doesnt have to be that good because McCoy is insanely talented. And then their is Chip Kelly he's the type of coach who knows how to play to his rosters strengths and mask their weaknesses.

I forgot to mention the giants lol. Eh. Anyway.  Any super bowl picks? I think either Seattle repeats or the niners win it this year.

Aside from Seattle, everyone in the NFC already either has glaring issues or key injuries. Another variable could be these bullshit interference and defensive holding penalties the refs were told to crack down on. If that continues, it may hurt teams like the Seahawks (who fucking shove and hold on every passing play).

Anyway yeah, I'm thinking Seattle or GB in the NFC. AFC's still got the same old teams as always - Broncos or Pats.

I dont think the seahawks will repeat in the NFC ill be pulling for the 49ers one of their tight ends Vance McDonald went to my high school. His brother was on my team. And I think the Saints are going to be pretty good. Colts Broncos Pats are my top three in the AFC.

Super Bowl 49ers Colts

And for your viewing pleasure have a look at Vance running over Richard Sherman @ :47

I thought Dallas had maybe the worst defense ever. Now it looks like the Bears are the absolute worst. Ever. :(

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high on Dallas just yet, but man they played well last night. They keep playing like that and they can beat anybody.I got a little nervous during those couple Saints TDs but the defense stepped up when needed. Can't wait to see them play the Seahawks in a couple weeks. Anxious to see that O line go against JJ Watt next week.

Me and you both man I almost can't believe it. I just hope Murray stays healthy. Got a few O line injuries too, seems like a trap game this week but hopefully they'll keep the momentum going.

crazy how good this O-line is i seriously underestimated how good Martin is. They just move everyone and they can run the ball on anybody. The defense on the surface looks to be much improved. but in reality they opposing offenses are just getting fewer chances. the yards per play is exactly the same as last year. but where the defense has improved is getting off the field on third down holding opponents to field goals. holding the line at when they need it most. Thats what makes this team great, they just want it more. this team has fight in them they just wont give up when things go wrong. That Seahawk win was insane. you spot them 10 from the jump and still pull out a win..in seattle? you cant help but believe in them.

Nah I don't think they will. I do think they will lose 3 games i think theyll get barley edged out by the Cardinals then Split with the eagles and drop one either to the Colts or Bears. 12-4 not bad for a team no one believed in.

They'll miss Dez but they can still win without him. Like last years defense, the offense will now have to have that "next man up" mentality. They moved the ball just fine without him on that last drive.
