your predictions
i'm going with 'there will be blood' with 'no country for old men' as the runner up
im sure the academy will crown 'atonement' tho
Voted: No Country, because it was fucking badass
I haven't seen There Will Be Blood though, but the Milkshake line is pretty popular right now
awesome fucking ending to the film
I cannot vote, as I have not seen any of them :-\
There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men were both amazing. Juno sucked horse cock and is the most overrated piece of shit in the history of the universe. Zodiac or The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford should be in it's place. I haven't seen Michael Clayton or Atonement yet.
Juno= waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated!

lawl, me neither
i heard from 4 different people that no country sucked. could be being lied to?
The problem is if you go see a movie that's supposed to be amazing after it's been overhyped to death, of course it's not going to be that great.
I went and saw Juno only because Jason Reitman was directing it. I thought it was a great movie. I haven't really seen any movie this year that was underrated that should have gotten a best picture nom. That's not to say that these are the best choices, but just the fact that nothing too mindblowing came out this year.
i only saw juno so thats what i voted for. i really liked the movie, it had a great theme and i liked how it wasnt the main focus of the story.
Juno was a great movie!
haha nice av/sig.
Lol thought it was funny. I think I'm going to buy a few bumper stickers
I may be wrong but they all seem to be late entries hence none have been released here yet, to my knowledge, although I read a review comparing "There will be blood" to "Citizen Cane" hence my money is on the former.
download them ry
how the fuck have I heard of none of these movies?

you are fighting a war in afghanistan ;D
Sunshine should be up there!
i just got back from seeing "there will be blood", and i must say i wept real tears after it was done- and fluttered my arms to see if i could fly... one of the best movies EVER, hands fucking down. i cannot be swayed. daniel day lewis is now governing my soul with a lashing rage, indecent, and i do not care. the end was perfect imo, and would serve as a great monologue. thank the heavens, good movies can still be made.
NCFOM.
there will be blood
there will be oscars
no country for old men = overrated and overhyped. cohen brothers should stick to comedy.

Loved No country and both Blood, I was thinking Blood would win, just because of the amazing acting, but Country just had a great story and it all kinda pieced itself together and made sense the first time I saw it. I'm glad both won something.
No Country for old men was a trip. Awesome storey line...
Milton from office space dies in the movie.. Didn't see that one coming... haha
Winner: No Country For Old Men

maybe a spoiler alert or something next time?
You're right, my bad...
hahaha fuck the cohen brothers, only serious movie they've made that i've liked was fargo, and even though no country is an amazing movie,.. pt anderson desrerved it.
no country for young men
Np country for 2 girls 1 cup.
the cohen bros. will always be legends for the big lebowski. no matter how hard they suck from here on out, you can never take that away from them.
so I finally saw "no country for old men" last night. Awesome movie. I loved it. Now im not in the states to hear what kind of hype its getting and all that to judge if its overrated or not. It probably is. But I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I would because everyone out here was bitching about the ending. But really, it was not that bad. Im just not too sure that they really thought the ending through. But it did seem like the cohen bros almost tried to sabotage their movie in certain parts by being purposefully too artistic or original or......I dont really know how to put it. But other than the couple of parts that could have been done way better, great movie
oh and 13 you really didn't spoil anything at all for me. Not like I didn't see it coming anyways.

bloody pirates!
ok. So I finally was able to get my hands on "there will be blood" ( I could not use that link because the Internet here is beyond words for sucking)
I really dont even know what I think about it right now. I for sure liked no country better. I mean It was Sllllooooowwwww to start. It took almost an hour before anything happened that really caught my interest. I did like the main character though. I liked his dedication. I liked the history in the movie. Sort of a look at where we (as americans) came from. What it took to succeed in order to make america the economic power house it is....or was anyways. I think most men can relate to his lust for competition and success to some level. But it was just lacking something to me. I didn't hate it. I just didn't love it.
there will be blood was amazing. it wasn't slow. it was beautiful.
It was very slow. There was not an amazing thing about the movie until Eli went all crazy in the church trying to get the demons out. Then it was slow again for a while. I mean literally nothing happened in the first hour.
he was by himself. do you talk to yourself when your working alone? i hope not. it was realistic.
the music, the scenery, the build-up... there was no need for words. this movie was art... movies are moving pictures and this was a perfect example...
ah well, i'm sorry you didn't enjoy it the way i did.
Its not the lack of dialog that got me. Just the lack of plot. NOTHING HAPPENED. the only reason i sat through it is because you guys told me its was so good. And generally I trust you guys on shit like this. I dont know. Maybe I just dont understand it. Or maybe I need to watch it again. Why did you like it so much? Was it because of the story? Or the how realistic the portrayal of the man was? How it showed the demons you have to take on to obtain certain goals? I would appreciate someone explaining in a bit more details why they liked this movie so much. Maybe I just need it explained to me.

Exactly, I hated it... But I was with a good looking girl, so I sat through it.
I think maybe a lot of people just found the story to be shocking, or disturbing....in an entertaining way. To see what this guy would to, how he would fuck people over even to the point of murder to get ahead, or just his way. But....I dont know. Maybe im an ass hole but that didn't seem all that weird or shocking to me. I could be way off though.

you cant say it better than this. the movie was art-that is all. this is what i look for in movies as well. i dont need things laid out (plotted). plots have become overrated just as "intent" is with any art. art- as visual, music, film, etc, etc... should be this way, not told as what to think or see in it but to "feel". just the whole idea behind "abstraction" in art. the same way i enjoy free-improv music. im really in awe of this movie and think its the greatest thing ever-just brilliant.
that's awesome, man.
i'm still thinking about this movie. it's impossible to forget.
i actually think i'd be able to put it in a top 5 of the greatest movies i've ever seen.

same here! hands down one of the best EVER. and more so than usual, i admit that notion definitively... this movie has haunted me for three weeks since i saw it, and i love it. I WILL BURY YOU! I WILL BURY YOU UNDER THE GROUND! im glad to see you agree. and your sig quote is precise 8)
maybe im just too big of an ass hole to be haunted by that movie. I mean I agree that it was well done. It just didn't stimulate me at all. oh well.
I think Trey and I like the movie Harsh Times, am I right?
I would agree that you and I see eye to eye on a lot of things. But that is hands down one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

harsh times was awesome
really? I thought it had horrible acting. And Christian Bale playing a chicano? mmmmmmmmno
he wasnt playing chicano, he was a white boy who grew up in a chicano neighborhood.
it wasnt the best of movies, but it was good imo.
i'm partial to bale and rodriguez for their previous work so maybe i have to watch it again.
i love bale, but harsh times is definitely his weakest flick to date.
I saw michael clayton last night. Good movie. I still like no country better. But I really enjoyed michael clayton too.
I thought harsh times was awesome... I related to it in many ways... But each their own...
No country was way good!
I just didnt believe bales character at all in the movie. The script and plot were really not too bad though
agreed. i had hopes for harsh times too.
IMO the best movies of '07 were No Country, Gone Baby Gone, Michael Clayton
but i still want to see There Will Be Blood
im running down the list. But so far I cant imagine a movie beating out no country

too much dialog?
really, loved it, thought casey affleck was da bomb
Saw juno tonight. AWESOME movie. I am seriously in love with that chick. But Jason Batemans character was a bit weird. And really when it comes down to it he was unnecessary. Other than that though, I thought it was a pretty great movie.
