Don't think there's a topic on this genre or if it's part of the electorinic thread, but anyone dig some trip-hop? Lately I've been listening to alot of it and can't get enough of a few artists:

I really dig Massive Attack.
Also, The Chemical Brothers are mind BLOWING. in all ways, even though they're more something to go in the electronic thread.
DJ mother fucking Shadow......is amazing. Not really trip hop but he has some similar styles. Entroducing....is my favorite album of the 90's
Saltillo - Ganglion is amazing. Discovered it a few years ago and fell in love with it. I'm sure a lot of you have or know about this Four Tet album. I guess it fits in with this thread...Amazing.
Four Tet - Rounds

besides the obvious, massive attack
i guess, a whisper in the noise. can kind of fit into this category
check out their album, through the ides of march
here is a song from that album.
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjZvlrMam0I&feature=related#)
Portishead is on this category?
If yes, it would be much appreciated if someone post links to their albums..
thanks for the link to thievery corp, i've always dug them and that new cd kinda slipped under my radar i guess. diggin it so far though

Why havent I seen this thread. Trip Hop makes about 50 per cent of all music I listen to nowadays.
I shall try Saltillo and Four Tet in a couple of days.
Some great stuff mantioned here so far, Thievery Corporation, and DJ Shadow, excellent!
Why dont you Trip Hop/Downtempo lovers go get some Wax Tailor, Bonobo, Esthero, Hooverphonic or even Nightmares on Wax. Those should get your juices flowing.
Cool Stuff, cool thread.
new massive attack song. video is featuring old porn.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Tricky.. One of the true OG's and real innovators in this style of music. He pretty much helped make the blueprint for Trip Hop with Massive Attack, and his first solo album, before it was even called Trip Hop..
Maxinquaye - 1995:

Or check out his latest one:

Air are down tempo? no??
Moon Safari and Talkie Walkie are both classics
Yea Moon Safari is an all-time classic.
So apparently Massive Attack plans on releasing an EP in May - mostly consisting of songs that didn't make Heligoland and potentially some new tracks as well.

great album!
Wow, not too far into this thread and i've discovered some great sounds... I'm pretty much a noob to most Trip-hop influenced artist, and from what I gather Massive attack is the foundation for this genre. For a first timer what are the best albums from M.A. that gives a well rounded perspective to what they have to offer? Thanks to everyone who introduced the preceeding artists
you guys should check out "the very first thing you must learn about flying is gravity" by everybody loves irene, especially "hate sunday." the silk demise is good, too.
thank you all for all of this great mushroom music
anyone digging the new Massive Attack album as much as I do?
I've only heard Splitting the Atom so far but I really like that song. I'm going to have to check it out soon enough.
Listen to "Paradise Circus", for me the best track of the album.
Just came across this Melbourne, Australia band called The RAah Project, from the few seconds I heard it sounds really good.
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/raahproject (http://www.myspace.com/raahproject)
A few criminally underrated albums:
Metaform - Standing on the Shoulders of Giants [http://www.mediafire.com/?fdwhnlqym04 (http://www.mediafire.com/?fdwhnlqym04)]
Emancipator - Soon It Will be Cold Enough [http://rapidshare.com/files/74938043/Emancipatorcold-2007.rar.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/74938043/Emancipatorcold-2007.rar.html)]

I enjoyed the new Massive Attack a lot. Took a bit for it to grow on me, but now I listen to it frequently.
Don't know if these guys are trip-hop, but the General Electriks are pretty catchy stuff.
http://www.myspace.com/generalelektriks (http://www.myspace.com/generalelektriks)
This doesn't exactly fit here as there is no category for this band and really no genre to classify them in. This band is a Jazz/Progressive/Electronica fusion with lots of woodwinds and horns with electronic manipulation. It is essentially nu-jazz or acid-jazz but more prog oriented. Anyone looking for something new and different sounding should check them out.
www.myspace.com/jagajazzist (http://www.myspace.com/jagajazzist)
Keep in mind this is NOT trip hop but is highly electronic.
Liking the above ^^
I've been getting into some down tempo dubstep recently, which borrows from trip hop/drumandbass/breakbeat IMO.
The following requires headphones with good bass capacity
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy2TOdvr8QY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy2TOdvr8QY#)
Realised it's been taken down..
Please take a listen, trust in this it's good
Not really Trip Hop but something you all need to check out! Scuba is the Shit.
Scuba - So You Think You're Special - Triangulation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF6PuBMPcDQ#)

Sure man, nice mixes, the bass in each song is really cool
"A supreme love", it's my fave
Tortoise are well worth a listen - bonus being they have a shitload of material to pluck from.
I don't know if this falls under trip hop but this is pretty cool to be fucked up to..

most appropriate thread for this one I think, well not rock-y enough for the Post Rock thread but certainly ambient filled enough for it
found this musical group through Facebook, it was in the advertisement column bar thing... proof that there IS some good stuff in there!

Trip Hop, Deftones, punk, and industrial have always been my go to's. Trip Hop needs a comeback. I'm looking at you Portishead *fiends a fourth album*
Uuuuuugh I love Trip Hop. Can't go wrong with some Tricky, Portishead , Massive Attack etc.
What's everyone's thoughts on Lovage ? Nice little supergroup with Mike Patton ( one of my personal favorite musicians ) , Jennifer Charles ( old enough to be my mom but I'd eat her out like Chinese takeout ) , Dan The Automator and Kid Koala .
