my god... they created eros and hype´d it to all the fans, it was done april 2008 and should have release it on the fall winter 2008 ... then they wont release it..
makes a new album on a couple of month´s, then when it´s complete, they never gonna release that either? it should have been released in october this year, with a single in august... then it was on the beginning of 2010... now it´s april/may?
my god... praise to god that chino dont steps and falls on a banana, then maybe they will have to make a new album again to make it up to the damage on his toe...
i think it should have been cooler if they released eros just for the sake of chi, and let the money from the albumsales go to him, that would have been a honor.

i been saying april for months now. i know this band all to well.
and i aint no sucker. eros isn't finished, Chino said he got "half" the vocals done. which means maybe 2 songs in chino terms. if he ever decided to finish the vocals it would take him 10 months.

as i said, this isn't really anything new. never expect anything from deftones. i just try to ignore whatever news until i hear an official exact date from an official source. otherwise you get hyped up over 10 different tentative release dates that ALWAYS get pushed back so for now let's just be patient and listen to something else until it's in our hands.

Thrice begun working on their new album beggars at the end of the last year, they recorded it in mars, and nailed every tone.
It got leaked in july, and official released on itunes in august and the psysical in september. And that album is the best album in the whole fucking year.
So tell me, whats the difference? Deftones even got larger production and more money on their projects.
Thrice record their albums in the garage of their guitarist!

s/t was a great record, heavy, melodic but it didnt show everyside of the band whereas SNW, in terms of diversity and songs is much better. The songs have more depth, structure, flow

I think it was an interesting interview. Chino seemed very candid, haven't heard him this open in a long time. Cool of him to admit Steph's music is the basis of Deftones.
But if Chino's estimations are correct, then $50.000 raised from the auction and $50.000 raised from the benefitshows are great numbers to add to Chi's fund! :)

Maybe u dont like the album but Its still deftones man. I agree tho, its definitely not their best album. Probably my least favorite. I think combat and kimdracula and riviere are some of my favorite deftones songs. But its no S/T or WP

What I don't understand was what's up with ALL that BS that deftones were telling us in 2008. I remember Chino saying how happy they were and how they were all getting along making EROS. Now he's like he had alot of trouble in his life and how he was going though a divorce ( Which I thought he was already divorced from celeste since 2004??? )

Chino has definitely contradicted himself (that's the nice way to put it) before. For example: he stated on Myspace that Eros was finished and being mixed, yet now it's he was only halfway through recording the vocals.

it's cool he admitted the black cloud that's been over them the past 2 albums. they haven't seemed right since 2001. they're good enough to halfass it and still make better albums than 99% of bands, but they need the fire back,

And if Chino had stuck around in Connecticut with Ezrin and the rest of them, SNW would probably would have been a hundred times better. I guess he thought there was too much of a black cloud, but when you hear that darkness manifesting in flat-out masterpieces like Finger of Death, it's a good thing. Maybe not for them, but for us.
Still, I think it's good they wrote this new material together. SNW was also over the place because Chino came back and finished it months later.

Second of all, I think it's hard to watch Chino at the time of the Internet House Party. He looks drugged up and unhappy, and his eyes there make me sad for him. Makes me happy for him that he seems so much more content now, and in good shape. I wonder what the title of the new Chi free album will be. This might be worth a thread - suggestions for titles. Maybe something else (than Eros) from Greek mythology, since Chino seems to read a lot about this, judging by titles of songs, etc.

I really don't care what the band says. S/T is my favorite. Heck, I even like Back to School even though the band hates it. So yeah.
It's their band. They do what they like. That why I like 'em.
I don't think he meant they were 'bad' records as such. It's just the band were going through a lot of dark shit at the time of writing and this especially shows on S/T. I for one think Deftones are at their best when they write dark, moody shit but I guess Chino thinks different. I think the new untitled record will be kinda upbeat and atmospheric but I REALLY wanna hear Eros as I reckon that record is as dark as S/T and maybe more. Probably why Chino doesn't want anyone to hear it yet...

If SNW repeat comes out again then blow me, that record is their worst by a way for me, hardly listen to it bar beware and maybe Rats... my opinion of course but if you compare it album to album, it really isn't that great, so I really hope this is an improvement. And with reference to Chino lying, it's probably cos he's been smoking absurd amounts of weed and doing other things that screw with your head, but I agree with most it is a bit annoying the way they banter on about dates and such, most other bands just seem to get on and release it, EPK or not... unless you're in a certain band lead by Axel Rose lol.

I didn't mean that this post was intelligent whatsoever. I find it epic because of its stupidity. Saying this on a forum about a rock band is similar to and as stupid as saying " We don't care if you don't like that book " in the middle of a debate about the said book.
For me, it's not the opinions or what is discussed; It's the way that certain things are said, especially when it gets personal.
It has to be constructive and relevant and not some moaning post or dig at some other person on this forum.
It's true, nobody really gives a shite if someone doesn't like or does like an album etc, but it provides discussion and learning about the subject of this forum - Deftones.
In addition, at least we're all passionate about it!!
