This is Jalapeno, a three toed box turtle I found walking down the street. I took him to the shelter and adopted him as soon as he became available.

The law isn't really enforced at all, nor could it. It's just they don't sell turtles. You have to find them in the wild.
It's a salmonella risk, just looked it up.
I've had 7 rats in my lifetime. I stopped keeping them as pets when I woke up one morning and two of them had eaten my favorite little guy alive.

That's the reason turtles under four inches in shell length are illegal here. Not because there's a lower risk fro salmonella after four inches, but because children are less likely to stick 'em in their mouths and contract it that way.
The restriction of certain pets for fear of salmonella is ridiculous. The answer is clean and cook your food appropriately and wash your hands. Also don't stick live animals in your mouth.

he is weird, one day I leave the door open and entered to my house (homeless cat in my neighborhood) and well, I adopted, he arrived very starving and malnourished, making lots of noise, is a bit lame (srsly) but now is better, his hair shine and is quite affectionate
they look awesome. i friggin love cats.my gf got two of em too, and when i'm at her house i cuddle and play with em all evening.usually til the point when she goes "well what about me" and i go "who?" i just get lost in them,they are the coolest creatures
