Title: Alternative Country/Folk
Post by: skinnypuppy on Oct 04, 2010, 05:16 PM
Hi guys,

Do any of you listen to what I would consider 'good' country/folk music? What I mean is, no songs about BBQ sauce on your shirt. Darker stuff, like Johnny Cash, or in a sense David Bazan (Pedro the Lion) or Dustin Kensrue (Thrice) - Really good, alternative, country/folk. What do you suggest? I love the genre, I just don't know many artists that really hit home.

Thanks,
-Jon

i started a topic like this awhile back, but i guess it may have been lost in the big one...

anywho this band "fire on fire" consists of members from progressive/noise rock band "cerberus shoal"
and they are fucking insanely good. watch this video and when this chic's voice kicks in, let yourself be floored in amazement.
their album "the orchard" is one of the best bluegrass/folk pieces of music ive ever heard. nice and dark too!!!
