Finally, the light of day has come. Cut for vinyl by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios from the original live analog sources and pressed on both 120- and 180-gram highest-quality vinyl at Record Technology Inc.

Teething is my all time favorite song.
I'm a little let down that there will only be 4 tracks considering they're dedicating a full 12" for each album. They could have easily fit 8 tracks at least from each album. I'm sure the price on each of these is going to be ridiculous.
Is that a reliable source though? I would have thought there would have been more than 4.

Deftones, etc. frontman Chino Moreno has revealed that the band are putting together a live vinyl release spanning their back catalogue. Moreno spoke of the bands plans on this past Thursday's episode of the 'Sixx Sense' radio show, stating:
"The last week and a half I've been having to go through all these tapes—we're putting out a live vinyl set...
for every record we're going to put out like 4 or 5 songs from that time, that era. So I've been going through all these tapes from 96-96 and they're hard to listen to... Like seriously, I really feel we've gotten better as a band and me as a vocalist."

I collect. So the more releases the better.
I'd prefer full albums in live form, actually. Sorta bummed it's only a few tracks. Wouldn't that fit into a double sided 7"? Maybe one side of the 12" will be artwork or etched? Meh, whatever, it's still cool, I just think it's not fair to the albums. Every album has way more than just 4 or 5 essential tracks.
Random thought, imagine if all this retrospection Chino's going through turned into him deciding to go back to the rougher edgier sound... Not that I care either way; love both sounds. I do think they have grown as a band, too, obviously.
Seems a bit of a money grab to release them all separately when you're only doing a few songs from each album.
Just my quick thoughts and maybe the reason for them introducing more songs off of Koi No Yokan recently into their live sets. This vinyl is going to be a 7 vinyl set, I am only assuming, one 12" release for each of their studio albums. Since they, according to Chino, are only going to contain 4-5 songs from each era I also assume the last release is going to be for songs off of Koi No Yokan. So they probably want to have a few different sources to pick from and pick which ones they think is the best.
So maybe this means a good quality live version of songs like Entombed and Romantic Dreams.

I think if they were only going to release 4 to 5 songs from each album this could have easily been a single 3 or 4XLP release instead of 7 separate 12"'s. I'm sure I'll still collect them all (POKEMON!) but it kind of sucks that they couldn't have compiled more songs.
I bet it's new tactics for the record company/Warner. CD's don't sell much anymore. Vinyl is hot which means $$$. I think the band like it too to put out vinyl. Since the tapes popped up and Chino started listening too them it could be he liked to hear it back and thought. Let's make selections and put it out.

I always hated those tracks at the time (heard them as the B-Sides on the My Own Summer single set). Put me off hearing anything recorded live by them for ages.
This is why I'm a bit apprehensive about these new vinyl sets.
I think it will be done right this time especially with Chino so involved in the selection process, he won't want anything less than the best plus I think that last one was just an attempt at getting some quick cash, it probably had very little effort put in to it ,alot of people don't actually knows it's an official release most think it's a boot.

Details have been announced for the Deftones' first installment in a series of seven live 12″ releases. "Live: Volume 1 – Selections From Adrenaline" will lead the charge on this years 'Record Store Day', April 20th. It will feature four songs from the groups October 13th, 1996 show at the Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, NY.
The included tracks have been mastered for vinyl by Bernie Grundman from the original live analog sources and pressed on both 120 and 180-gram vinyl. It also will sport cover art done by Eliot Lee Hazel.
Each release in the series will feature four live tracks focusing on an album/time period from the bands discography.

Yeah but New Zealand is horrible for vinyl full stop, people don't get into as much over here probably because the we get charged alot with taxes and shipping ,there's no real proper vinyl supplier any more either they have gone out of business now we don't get any of the record day sort of stuff you have to special order most vinyl in nowadays even the common stuff and the mark up is ridiculous.

My record store sold out immediately before I could get there. I'm pretty pissed. If anyone has a copy they'll be selling on eBay or something let me know. I'm just fucking bummed I made an hour and a half bus trip early as fuck on a Saturday for absolutely no payoff.
EDIT: called another record shop about another hour away. They have one copy left they'll hold for me. Hopefully nobody asks for it before I get there.

Just the thickness of the actual vinyl the record is pressed on, the heavier the vinyl the better it will sound.

From what I have read it will also be sold at deftones.com starting tomorrow at 10am. The record store day I release was 120 gram and the Deftones.com one will be 180 gram. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Does anyone have any idea how the others will be released? Are they going to be sold through deftones.com?
Also I was talking with my brother in-law saying how it would be cool if they dedicated one of the covers of the vinyl to Chi and he said they are probably all done and pressed, just waiting somewhere to be released.
I'm not sure but I'm guessing they will do a split release like they did with this one and have a normal copy in stores and then a limited edition 180g on their site, I don't know if the rest of them are ready I doubt the music is there's a lot of time the band needs to spend going through all the live recordings although it is possible they have the artwork designed I'm guessing they will have them designed so they go together like a set but a Chi cover would be awesome.

I'm making a extended discography book. It's way in the works now and need lots of info. Abe has seen the roughs of it and was blown away, he took the book home with him ;-) . It's not gonna be on a website yet. It's a lot of work but when it's finished I'm sure we're gonna put it online in some way.

Dude,I dont know what you did,but it shouldn't be that small,especially with HD artwork.VBR and 320 are two different things.I'm guessing you don't have you encoder set propperly and have no idea what your doing.Or worst your trying to give someone a virus or some shit,I don't know,its your first post here,and that size is way off,even with ultra compression.A proper V0 should be around 33.08 MB,proper 320 is around 39 mb.Its quite possible yours could be a V0,with the encoder set on Fastest(low quality),which will give you poor results.I made a proper 320 so anyone who wants,can get it from a source that they know is legit.I was hoping someone else would,but its all good.

Dude,I dont know what you did,but it shouldn't be that small,especially with HD artwork.VBR and 320 are two different things.I'm guessing you don't have you encoder set propperly and have no idea what your doing.Or worst your trying to give someone a virus or some shit,I don't know,its your first post here,and that size is way off,even with ultra compression.A proper V0 should be around 33.08 MB,proper 320 is around 39 mb.Its quite possible yours could be a V0,with the encoder set on Fastest(low quality),which will give you poor results.I made a proper 320 so anyone who wants,can get it from a source that they know is legit.I was hoping someone else would,but its all good.

True that,I did jump to conclusions,i archived a 320 and a V0 with 7zip,on ultra compression and the size barely dropped,I was surprised when I snatched it and the size was larger.

Recently got the jensen JTA475 .. great record player that comes with everything .. AM/FM radio.. cassette player.. cd player.. aux input .. and 3 speed turntable and it comes with the little thingy that plays the records.. some people complaint that the speakers arent too loud but to me its perfect for my ears .. and if your not satisfied with the volume you can plug in your own speakers on the back .. great buy .. bought it for 80$ on amazon .. bought it recently because of the same reason you want one xD

I'm confused, I bought LP on Record Store Day 120 gram edition (Stereo Boutique for europe) and Deftones Store 180 g edition, and what a surprise, I received 2 LPs exactly similar. I sent a mail to Stereo Boutique and Deftones Store but no reply for the moment.
If someone bought on Stereo Boutique or Deftones Store, can he say me how the vinyl was. Mine were with transparent sleeve with no stickers and the discs with transparent plastic sleeve.

The release was super cool. The tracks sounded tight as fuck, nice performance too. Minus Blindfold sounds dirty. Great sample of what they were about, back then.
Yeah it sounds real dirty I like it, but I also like how in that performance of minus blindfold Chino draws out the bit around 3:20 and sings it real beautifully and more melodic than usual.

Nah there's no way we'd get that, the chances of there being a good recording are slim and I also think it would go against the whole idea behind these vinyls which is live performances of songs from there respective eras.

The band is going to stagger these limited edition 12"ers over a period of time in specialty stores to send both fans and collectors scrambling.
then, about three months after the seventh and final 12" is released, news of a deluxe boxset containing ALL seven live EPs plus...oh, I don't know...maybe an additional live EP heretofor unreleased or maybe ANOTHER lithograph just to make the whole thing exclusive.
The going rate? Probably about $200. So Deftones easily make your money on the first seven EPs, then easily make MORE of your MONEY on a boxset collection of the stuff you already have.
And I'll probably be first in line for that shit, too ;D
Yeah haha that's how it goes, we know the company is trying to get as much money from us but I think most of us don't mind it because we like supporting the band and getting new merch, my only problem with those limited release things is the people who buy them and then try sell it for ludicrous amounts once they are sold out.
