Title: Describe your nations music
Post by: DeftonesNZ on Jan 19, 2014, 10:44 AM
Some of you right remember we had a thread like this a while it was pretty interesting seeing the results so I thought I'd do it again just post your country and talk about your countrys style and provide some bands for others to check out.

New Zealand, our musics a bit weird we tend to lean towards the more laid back cruisy music because as a whole our society is pretty down to earth and relaxed but there is also quite a lot of interesting stuff that comes out of our country because we're are in our own little corner of the globe we don't really get influenced by trends like some bigger countries so the end result is a real melting pot of genres and experimentation.
This is Blindspott they were really popular in their day, they seem heavily influenced by the american nu-metal scene but there's a NZ flavour to it

This is Beastwars nothing fancy just a straight up metal band with chunky riffs

This Jakob a pretty successful post rock group

This two bands porbably best showcase NZ's sound though real groove based songs with classic dub traits
Kora

Fat Freddys Drop is also along the same lines of Kora but more complicated with elements of Jazz and other genres mixed in

and I'll just throw in an old classic from Split Enz a band who had pretty decent international success
