True, DE had some pretty cool videos, so there is hope that Gore will get some too. Of course it could also be complete shit, but whatever. Videos are just an extra anyway.
Minerva and butcher were absolute solid videos but I liked both of those songs better than prayers/triangles.

Hilarious that people on the label think it's still a good idea to put this band in their videos. Dudes are so old and out of shape and clearly don't want to be there. I mean, what fan demographic is this supposed to draw in?
This band makes weird and atmospheric heavy music. Keep the band out of the videos and make something that matches that.
They still look cooler than any young bands on TV.

They honestly sound like me, my buddies at work just busting each others balls about things.
I dont really care about video clips in general. I do check them, of course, but not like its a deal breaker. And Deftones have never been known for making good ones, either... so.. yeah. I'll check it, but like someone else mentioned, inc another bland video. As long as they keep writing good stuff, they can put themselves staring at the camera doing nothing, for all I care.
ps: I do like Bloody cape's video, and some others.
I actually like the ones of the band playing. More than I like freaking Swerve City anyway. Diamond Eyes is my favourite video, but then again, I don't even remember watching any of their videos more than three times at most. So I don't even remember the videos to the majority of their songs.
When I was a kid I watched their videos constantly. My deftones highlight was being in the hexagram video even if it was just for a split second.

You're not alone. Anytime the video and particularly when the video was focused on Sergio and his Fender Bass 6, all that came to my head was MBV.

Cool music video. Who else heard the dialed down guitars? The song sounds like it was mixed differently, it had more punch and didn't sound as harsh as the actual song on the album.
I prefer the simplicity and hypnotic effect of the flamingos too haha.

A music video featuring the artist is primarily about the image of who is featured and is intended largely as a form of objectification; essentially using the sexuality and swagger of the characters as a means of increasing the sales of a product.
Objectively, the band has aged and failed to take care of themselves. They LOOK pretty awful and thus fail as a target for objectification. Starting from the White Pony days, there was arguably no good reason for this band to keep appearing in their videos. Even ignoring this fact, the music since then has more focus on mood than anything else, and the videos should reflect that artistically, which they almost always completely fail to do. The band has also stated fairly universally that they hate making videos.
They should just stop appearing in their videos.

Different kind of experience and intent but yes, the argument largely remains. These guys are in their 40's now and won't be doing much stage-diving without fears of breaking their hips. The broadening of their music tone reflects this.
They've stated that they want to make their shows more visual by incorporating screens and whatnot. Good move to take the focus off of themselves and attempt to craft a more appropriate experience. The closer they move towards a more Tool/Failure type experience the better.

yeah that was the best bit... because it looks like hes praying to catch a bus, on acid and keeps getting stopped by trippy triangle give way signs. That's what the song is about to me now lol. Did they resolve his running in the video or not? Or he still forrest gumping for eternity? They should have him running in the next video with a huge beard in the same clothes ;)
