Sidestepping my own Will Haven topic (few pages back) for a moment, I am aware of that, but, I kinda thought this deserved it's own topic.
A couple of days ago I booked Easyjet and booked the folowing gigs;
* March 18 2006 - Mean Fiddler, London.
* March 19 2006 - Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth.
* Match 20 2006 - Zodiac, Oxford.
Who else is going to any of these gigs?
Can I bum a ride with someone to Portsmouth and Oxford? That would not only be cool, but safe me a fuck lot.

I love this logo. At the last show they had 2 shirts (that I remember) and the hoodie. I didn't have enough for the hoodie so I tried to buy the shirt with that logo...it was the girls shirt, so I got the other one :oops:

Thanks to everyone who made the show an awesome one. It felt real good to be back on stage rocking again. To everyone who came out and showed their support it really meant alot to us. Much respect to the people who came from as far away as England,Colorado, Oregon, St Louis and other parts of the US to see the show.
To all of our old school homies who came out, it was awesome seeing everyone, we miss you guys alot.
So much love and respect to everyone who came out on Saturday to the show and the instore, you definately made it a special day/night for us no doubt.
For now we are trying to finish writting songs for the new record then we are headed to the beautiful land of England for an awesome tour. When we return from the UK we will go in and finish the record and begin to play more shows.

Will Haven are still an underground band, but a little bigger then that. If you search in Deftones history you'll find them. They aren't big in the States at all, the are only big(ger) in the UK...

Well as I mentioned in the +/- thread, Cayle came on and said they had bad news, and that Grady couldnt be there. From what I heard (and my hearing is a bit fucked up likes) Grady had to get to his wife in Paris or something, some family/personal thing, an emergency basically. Fuck knows what's happened there, but I was absolutely gutted when he said that. It was wierd as well, because one of the roadies or sound people at the side looked like Grady so I thought it was a joke at first but alas...so we got Simon from Biffy Clyro and Craig from Aereogramme, who both hardly knew the words. The band still ruled the whole show though. And Mike is one nice fella if ever I met one.

according to the tour diary on Myspace Grady wasn't in Newport either. I bet they will be back again later in the year for a headline tour to make up for Grady's missed shows.

@ Crisbo:Yes, Cayle is now a full member for Will Haven. Loads of stuff was recorded (especially on 'Carpe Diem') with 2 guitars, so it can all come out now.
A bit weird as I always saw Will Haven as a 4 piece, and Cayle is younger (I think) then all of them (Mitch included), but that all doesn't matter; it sounds awesome!
Oh right that's cool! He added quite a bit of energy to the show so that's cool he's now a full member. So how was the Oxford show?

In my book they're just fucking dickheads who ruin it for the true fans. A band like Will Haven do not deserve that kind of shit.
Oxford was brilliant! At the London and Portsmouth shows I think I held back a little bit, seeing how my health was, and I still had shows to go, now I just went for it.
Stood just about at the front, carved my space and headbanged about as much as the band did. All my clothes were soaked afterwards.

ok u just saw Will Haven on 22nd @ The Peel. I have to say that i like to share my experince with everyone and been very detailed, so here my review:
Lucky 9:
They were supporting WH, they put on a good show, playing about 6/7 songs, abviously there was not enough energy and you could see that most people weren't acquainted with the band. But still manageds to rock.
Will Haven:
Now gods of hardcore! Me and my mate were standing, having few pints waiting for WH to play then some guy tapped me on a shoulder and asked if he can go through than i turn to my mate and said "fuck me this is WH vocalist" I have to say that he is short and you can see he is not very socialable person and he is not shy! I just got my El diablo album cover and asked him to sign it and said that i was looking forward to show on that which he thanked me.
The band rocked all the way through, people kinda sucked cause no one was moshing, only at the front small mosh pit with 5 people going mental and swining their fists, i thought that was taking a bit far and hurting each-other is not fun, well for me is not! So i tried moshing like a normall and i end up been hit and harshly pushed into other peole. So i thought fuck them and stood aside and continued my joy with headbaning.
I liked how Vocalist kept his mike to him self rather than throw in crowd to shout some shit also he wasnt talking between songs which just proves my point about him been not very socialable person.
Got such a good memories after show i saw drummer giving out couple drum sticks so I asked him and he said "sorry i cant give more" so as i about to walk away he reaches to his drum sticks-holder and passes me one, i gues he just felt like why not, its fan that just wants to keep as souvenir (such a nice guy).
GHOSTRIDE updates:
So i managed to get hold of drummer after again and asked about GR , he said that they stop that for a while with new album and bigger tour comming up. Also i asked about playing with Deftones, which he said thats likly to happen. I thanked him, said that GR rocks, they did great show and shook his hand.
I also got my El diablo signed by the guitarist, he looked the youngest in a band so i imagine its a dude from GR taht joind WH. So how i understood him (it was still loud cause they plaid music) GR is likly be over and they will have another project comming up.
PRICK:
I have to say this cause i never seen anyone that rude and stupid. This guy looked about 16. Was telling Lucky 9, how many songs they have left to play and do they have to play them all. Kept booing them. At WH he asked for water of vocalist, been nice he shared 1 liter bottle water with the Prick and he just passe it to everyone else instead of returning and saying thank you. He speilt water on me and i just grabbed him in crowd and wiped out my sleev and jacked against him. That prick tried have fight in mosh and Vocalist oushed him off few times (well done). After the show he got drum stick too which i think he didnt deserv. My friend and me told him taht he is been dickhead, my mate tried buy drum stick off him, after he took money he tried to escape and my mate grabbed him, got his £ back. I have such great repulsion towards him, even want to actually punch him but im gladded i managed to wiped my cloth off him, lol. Instead of making this gig a great/welcomed experince that prick ruind it all.
Finally:
New song sounded very good, very fast drumming and heavy, oh boy when their album out its going to kick all these emo/core shitty bands asrses.
So i end up with drum stick and signed el diablo and had talk to band members, god that gig felt so special, memories for a life.
Sorry if that was too long review or my bad english but i just had to share it all with you fans.

Grady not a very sociable person? I don't know. I think he is, but he just keeps to himself. Four years ago, when they played London's Mean Fiddler as well, I got to talk to him briefly. I asked him what his lyrics were about...and he just thought for awhile, smiled, looked around, thought some more and finally answered 'woman & life'. That's a short answer, in which he really says a fuck lot.
To add to it; the new song is called something like 'Frontrow Curbside', someone I know told me 8)
Plus, it was also played at their reunion show, which you can download from my site (well, not from my site, but the link is there).
Sounds like a cool show despite the annoyances! There's always someone who has to be a dick aint there?

I really wanted to see them recently, but I had no money to go which is a shame.
The kind of people Vadimo spoke of really can annoy me at shows. I'm all for people going crazy if that's what they wanna do. I have no problem with that whatsoever. But it's when they ruin it for the people that actually go there to see a show that annoys me. It happened when I saw Dredg at the Mean Fiddler. I was a couple rows from the front and just getting caught in some people doing their best to jump around and shit. But I mean it was fucking Dredg man, I went there to see them not go crazy.
I dunno, it just kind of gets on my nerves when it gets spoiled like that.

You should do that, it's do-able if the tour's anounced ahead of time. You can plan everything and figure out what it's likely to cost (and then exceed it when you get there haha).

It's a pity there's not many Will Haven fans, but then again, they remain a pretty underground band. You'd think most Deftones would know them, since they've toured with them and everywhere you go Deftones wise, like biographie, videographie, fansites etc, the name pops up.
Ow well, they got some love from the UK, some in Australia, Japan and some in Europe (like The Netherlands, Germany & France).
We just need to spread the word about William H and show support at the shows.

Will Haven aren't completly unknown in the US but they are not far off. They got a pretty big CA fanbase but still not even that big (their hometown shows rarely sell out). Whatever fanbase they do have in the US it was definetly from their tours with Deftones, Far, Soulfly, Slipknot, V.O.D, ETC
They are kind of same as like Amen where they are from the US but they only have a small cult following here while they are huge in the rest of the world especially the UK

So yeah...they want it, but it might not work out.

I've noticed as well, that all the WH releases have been re-released on Golf Records, here in UK. I went to Avalanche the other day, and the only one I need (S/T ep) is the only one they didnt have though, which sucks!

Yeah that's it, with the cardboard cases around them. Thing is, I normally take them off anyway, so it doesnt really make much difference to me. They were selling them for the same price as a new release, £11.99. I thought they might have been a bit cheaper than that.

sorry to change subject but i just watched 25min of Will haven DVD : Foreign Films, now i got to say what the fuck lol, some wierd stuff; like porn images and some fast dude is getting off with another girl and taking off het bra!
Also i saw some immachure/silly things they did, especially Grady when i met him this year at the peel he seemed to me so serious and had very grown up sence of humor, but god after this footage i dunno kinda wierd to think these dudes that i saw in 2006 are the same ppl on dvd, maybe they have grown up.

An utterly shameful review of the Will Haven/Crowbar show at the Mean Fiddler in this months issue of Metal Hammer. Pisses me off so bad, it's obvious the dude doesnt have a clue what he's talking about or doesnt even like the band to start with. He praises Crowbar to fuck, but says the sound in the Mean Fiddler has gotten worse and worse over the years or some shit so that's what ruined the show. Anyway here's what he says about Will Haven
"...As for Will Haven, well the sound clears up the minute they take to the stage, but the atmosphere nose-dives faster than Tony Blair's approval ratings the minute the bands jarring staccato noise makes itself known. Quite frankly Will Haven are cluelessly, incredibly awful - a cacophonous din compared with Crowbar's hugely enjoyable dirge.

That review is harsh! I don't understand, I though Metal Hammer backed them up as well. There's another review from Kerrang out there (on the Crowbar website, that's not too fond of them as well).
Anyway, you're right Chrisbo, I disagree. The gig was awesome and sound was perfect. That said, I did like the gig in Portsmouth the next day a little better; they're were even better then, or at least, they seemed to be for me. But me liking that gig more also has to do with me knowing which song they'd played, me beeing up front, me being able to headbang my way through each song and me making a friend there.

Too true. I don't even buy that shit no more. I know Rock Sound are really big fans though and praised Carpe Diem to fuck when it was released. They were the main feature in the mag and a lot of the article was basically asking why Will Haven hadn't had much success when they were such an amazing band.
just in case it needs to be said, Will Haven are one of the best bands ever and that reviewer is an arse.
yeah review sucked and metal hammer is just like Kerang, its all about big bands or money making bands.
Also i thought reviews are ment to be more rationall, descriptive, informative, sharing your opinion and experince with readers, you cant just say this is not what i expected and they suck. Very preposterous review!

There's just something about Grady's non-usage of standard lyrical (and vocal) formulas and stuff and Jeff's guitar usage that took me in the first time I heard a Will Haven song, which was Carpe Diem... and I bought WHVN, which is my in my top-fave albums that I own..

Cayle Hunter has left both Will Haven and The Abominable Iron Sloth. In turn, he is now focusing his efforts on a new group dubbed Armed For Apocalypse, which features members of Oddman fame, among others. The group recently recorded a new three song demo, with material from it available online here.
This really sucks, I thought Cayle was a great addition to WHVN
Yeah, I noticed this yesterday when someone informed me of Armed For Apocalypse, and the new picture, and the fact that he does not appear in the bandmembers line on their MySpace.
Cayle was a great addition, playing the double guitar parts Jeff recorded but couldn't play live.

Yes. Will Haven will be supporting Deftones during their European tour. They also plan to do a headlining tour in the UK after that.
It says so right on this page.
Ah well, that's cool that they're planning on a headlining tour in UK. Would have been cool to see them with Deftones, but I guess this way the spotlight will be on them for the night. More tunes as well!

It may seem wrong, but I'd like to hear Grady (or maybe Chino since he'll be on it) fucking SING on some Will Haven tracks. Grady writes some great, sometimes beautiful lyrics, but you can't really hear them unless you know them

Mmm...I'd dig that too, to hear Grady sing on a track. He does indeed write beautifull lyrics and you have to know them to hear them, but that adds as well; people have got to put effort into it to see it.
I don't want to hear Chino sing on a Will Haven track, I want to hear Chino scream along Grady. Keep the singing to Team Sleep and (in part) Deftones, scream for William 8)

With everything tying together, then yeah there is not a lot I can do about it. Forget the bit about not being a working boy, I could easily get a job, but then that just fucks up everything else. I dont want to struggle at Uni, like many other people on my course.

Body: just a quick update to let everyone know we are headed back into the studio this weekend with Chino Moreno (deftones) and Shaun Lopez (Far, Revolution Smile) We will be tracking a few songs at Shaun's studio down in Los Angeles, CA
Chino and Shaun are really good friends of ours and we are all excited about the stuff we are coming up with. So this weekend we will be doing a blog everyday giving details of the days events, some behind the scene stuff, and the craziness that happens when you get all the old school homies together. So starting Sat morning the first blog will be posted on the will haven page. stay tuned..........................

We got into town around 12am due to a crazy driver losing control and flying off the freeway and bursting into flames, always an adventure on the LA freeways. We went straight to the studio to meet up with Shaun and Chino. Our good friend Benji was there as well and it was good to see him. We all hung out til about 4 in the morning chillin out, listening to music and some crazy speech by Abe made while recoding the Deftones record. I love that guy. We then went back to Chino's to finally catch some sleep. We talked about getting into the studio around 11 but of course that didn't happen, we finally woke up around 1 and we took off to
Get some food. So we finally roll into the studio around 3. It was nice to finally get indoors because for some reason its about 50 degrees herein beautiful so cal. I don't think its ever been this cold in LA, just our luck.
Today was a pretty productive day, we set up the drums and got them dialed in, we then tracked two songs on drums, Helena and Ice landing. Both songs turned out awesome, Chino and Shaun made a lot of cool changes in both songs. So things are going very well, the new album is going to be by far the best stuff will haven has ever done.
We finally called it a day around 11, we all decided to go out to a resturant/bar that our friend Chris works at. It was probably a bad idea to give us free drinks, Mitch at one point fell out of the booth and collapsed on th e floor, so we picked him up put him back in the chair and gave him another shot, fool is like a Gremlin if you get him wet after midnight.
So I would have to say today was a good day, got some work done and still went out and had a good time. Its awesome to be working with Shaun and Chino, they are some of our best friends but we respect them as musicians tremendously. Its nice to have them there.
So its now 3 in the morning and Im about to pass out, tommorow we should be a bit more rested or a bit hungover who knows, but it should be fun either way....

Why is LA so damn cold? Like Alaska up in here! Today was good, I rolled out of bed at 9 to catch the supercross race, damn Bubba is fast! My boy Reed needs to get that wing fixed. I was mostly curious how Mitch was going to feel after his night of dancing and meeting people. He looked a little beat down but was moving around pretty good. We had a bomb ass breakfast at Chino's house then it was back to the studio. We tracked one more song on drums (sheepards bush). Mitch's drumming on this record is completely insane, pretty crazy stuff.
It was then on to Mike to throw down his bass tracks, we got through one song but wasn't happy with the bass tone we were getting so we moved onto guitars. I started out with the newer song Sheppards Bush. Chino, Shaun and I came up with some sick guitar parts for this song. This record is starting off to be exactly what I was looking for, some crazy epic stuff. I cant say enough about Chino and Shaun, they are definitely bringing a lot of cool stuff out of us.
After laying the guitars for that song we needed a break, so we hit up a good Chinese resturaunt across the street from will smith's studio, yeah will smith has his own studio, what the hell doesn't that guy have? After that we decided to hit up a bar called Bar 21, go figure, we sat there and played some tunes on the jukebox, Chino was telling us that Hall from Hall and Oates was dead, but we found out the fool was still alive. So Hall and Oates is still rocking, thank god...Chino then suggested we hit up some karaoke bar down the street, this place was badass, probably had 3000 songs in that book, everything from the bee gees to slayer, we didn't rock it but we heard some American Idol fools in the making. SORRY!!!
So after another night of cocktails we called it a night, when we got back to Chino's he was telling us about how the mountain next to his house was hollow and filled with some crazy shit, what the hell was he sippin on? Another good day.......

'Frontrow Curbside' and 'Helena' are the same song. The songtitle changed.
When I saw them in the UK in march last year, I heard the song was called 'Frontrow Curbside' as well as it being anounced as 'Helena'.
So either it's the same song, but the name changed, or it were different songs all together.
Anyway, of this song no demo has hit the web yet.

the singer (which didn't announce his name properly) stated, "look at all this up here, this is the big NEWS this the new WILL HAVEN". the singer was some black/ dark skinned dude w/ some sorta mohawk, sounded alot like grady. as we all will miss grady much, you will not be disspointed, i did enjoy the show alot. but the news was not formally announced it just was a few words also im not sure if lance from eightfourseven is the permenant 2 guitarist. i was confused the whole night but when they started saga i was like fuck it. it still sounded great. i did see a guy taping the show but i think it was management or some1 that was with the band.

im not 100% sure but i think the singer might have been Jeff Jaworski from Red Tape.

FUCK, this is bollocks, I'm well pissed off. First Grady leaves and now the UK dates are canceled.
That's getting a bit chaotic in the Haven family...
In my opinion, they are nothing without Grady, I hate it when bands replace vocalists, it's just not the same.
how insanely lame.. the whole point of this reunion was because all the members were into doing a band together again.

"Years back I got to fill in for Mike on a two-week tour, and became very intimate with the Will Haven sound," says Jaworski. "Grady is the man, and it's too bad he had to bow out of this, especially when the band is writing some of their best music ever!" He adds of his longtime connection to the Will Haven camp, "Red Tape did our first tour with Will Haven back in 2001. We go even further back as friends though... back to the sock days! I don't know how to put what else I want to say, I'm sure Jeff Jaworski is an awesome vocalist, but Will Haven without Grady is no Will Haven.
If it's about touring then Grady should do the vocals on the record. If it's a money thing, supporting family, I, for as far as I can, understand...but...how can it be rewarding right now? Wait till the record's out first. If that doesn't support family, fine, he gave it a fair chance.
Or maybe I don't understand at all.

this isnt the first time grady's wife has problems, check will haven on wikipedia, that's what led grady to left the band then and now, family issues.

Well, I'm pretty disgusted. I'm sure the band is pretty annoyed by this situation and that they're doing the best for them and the fans, but the overall disapointment is unavoidable...
i don't see why everyone is so suprised that grady is leaving. when the band got back together recently they thought everyone was committed but grady was still like "maybe i can play shows on the weekends, etc." and didn't really take the whole thing all that seriously. when they did the big uk tour, grady left at the first chance he had and even though it was for a semi-important reason it still just showed how this band wasn't his first priority.
i also don't see how grady is the selling point of this band to most people. all he does is just stand there and scream and has very little stage prescene. it's not like the guy can't be replaced. jaworski is an awesome guy with a lot of stage prescence and i am sure can bust out all the will haven tunes with no problem.

Yeah he didn't have much stage presence but he made up for that by doing awesome vocals, it's like you said, the band isn't his first priority anymore and he probably thought at he could commit to being back in the band more than he realized.

Every frontman makes every band what they are, It's like a seal on the envelop. Especially after alll that time and they get replaced, It's just not the same.

@ Deftoneaddict: It isn't about his wife alone, it's about his family and being able to support it. In a Rock Sound interview Grady said he'd love to do the band fulltime, but only if that can support his family.
He did leave during the UK tour because she was ill/had an accident and was hospitalised.
I know what's on the wikipedia site, I helped write that. I pretty much wrote the whole damn thing in Dutch (but that's besides the point :) )

I don't think Grady is the selling point of the band, I think they all bring something unique to the sound. But I do think it's easier to get the same sound out of guitar, bass or drumkit with somebody else behind it then it is to get the same sound out of a different person's troath, or get the same kind of lyrics (which I think were the unique things Grady brought to the band).
I do think Grady has a stage presence, might it not be as crowd interactive as other people. He stands there, belting, and headbanging like a maniac; no bullshit, just full on him.

its shocking to me, i was just imagining seen Will Haven in UK and ofcourse Grady is the man, how WH can exist without him? But i gave myself half an hour to think about this whole situation and....
just last week i was thinking how heavy music these days which is hardcore/metal-core/metal are gone down hill everything sounds the same and with this hair and clothe fashion bullshit - made me feel sad but then i WILL HAVEN came to my mind and their music which is now alive and band is palying live, made me feel YES there is still good bands out there making heavy music.
So someone here said that the new guy wasn't bad at all, i rather still have WILL HAVEN with new vocalist than no WILL HAVEN, we need their music these days, they are one of few bands that keep on making music for pleasure not for some fashion kids.
I really DO WANT WH still play if the vocalist is the right man!

The new singer is Jeff Jaworski (of the band RED TAPE). Their album is really VERY good.
Now about heavy music - this band ARE needed more than ever. They are still going to be insanely heavy no matter who is singing for them. I (probably more so than a lot of people as I have lived and bled for everyone of their albums) am GUTTED Grady has left but if his family is more important, who are we to decide otherwise?
It's 2007. Music is the worst it's ever been (INCLUDING METAL). It's haircuts, make up and soulless. I need this band for my own sanity.
And to the dude who wanted 100,000% from a live band - check out my band RSJ. I don't do gigs 300 miles away from where I live and go to work the day after sore as fuck for nothing. We. Put. Out.

Touring for us are merely vacations at this point, but being creative is the most important thing to us. So keeping this band together has been a hard struggle sometimes due to financial strains on us personally, If your in a band you know how hard it is. It's a beautiful thing but if your not a mainstream band its not very glamorous. So that being said all of us still have careers outside of the band to support our families. So Grady has had to take a job opportunity to make sure his wife and two beautiful children are very well taken care of. This job is a very good thing for him and we support his decision as we all agree family is first and foremost. So whatever rumors you may hear, the facts are Grady is still a member of will haven, but is unable to tour and give the time he wants to the band. He is our brother, our best friend and is continuing helping with the band, He wants us to keep the band going and let the world hear what we started, he wants to be a part of it but he cannot give the time he wants. He is helping with the new record and if has time will sing on a few songs.
Now the new era of will haven begins. We had a tough decision to make when Grady had to limit his time, we could break up or continue to create some of the best music we have ever done. After long discussions and Grady telling us to move forward we looked within our family to find someone to step in. We asked Jeff Jaworski if he would work with us on the new record. He was very happy to step in. Jeff is one of our favorite musicians and sings for one of our favorite bands Red Tape. He is a big reason will haven sounds the way it does, He is the one who introduced me to Neurosis, which is probably the biggest influence on will haven, so Jeff is a big reason will haven is around today, a reason why we wrote a song about him Jaworski on WHVN. He also played bass for us on a Soulfly tour when Mike could not go with us, so he is a very close friend of ours and has always been part of the band. After sitting down to write some songs for the new record, it just felt right, His vocals were amazing over the stuff we were writing. He has brought so much to the new material its been amazing. Will haven has always been about the music, we never set out to be rockstars or make tons of money its about making the most original, heaviest music out there. So that's why we have decided to keep the name will haven and continue on with our journey because the music we are creating is about what will haven stands for. With Jeff in the band we can go out and play shows and tour and spread the will haven noise. So it is a tough decsion, Grady is an amazing frontman but will haven is a family of amazing, passionate musicians and Jaworski is definitely that. We couldn't think of anyone else who could come in and make will haven just amazing as its always has been. So nothing has changed, will haven is still timeless as always, and Jeff has added some amazing stuff to will haven, This new era of will haven will be the best chapter yet, We are very excited about whats to come and the music will speak for itself.
As for the UK tour, we DID NOT cancel the tour, we were ready to go and were very excited to play. The real reason is that when the UK promoters found out Grady was no longer in the band they canceled most of our shows. Its very unfortunate that they did that because will haven is stronger than ever but they felt that the will haven fans would not support us. So that is the reason that the UK dates were canceled. The Deftones tour is still happening so hopefully then we can show people that we are here to stay. If the promoters are shown that our fans still want us over there then hopefully they will rebook the tour sometime later this summer. So we are very sorry for cancellation but is was not our doing.
So thank you for reading, I know there will be some people who will question Grady's departure and we understand, We never wanted to be in this situation, we hate replacing our brothers but we understand its about the music. If we thought we would not be as good then we would not continue but we know that with Jeff we are growing as a band and will not lose anything we have gained over the past 12 years.
So there will be an amazing new album out this summer, and if hopefully a lot more will haven shows.

I was so pissed when I read this on theprp at work earlier. I knew it wouldn't last, but I was hoping the album would be released and they'd do a proper tour or 2 first.
Nothing against Jeff, he's a great guy and I know he's gonna bring some great energy to the band, but as someone stated before, the only reason they even reunited was because of Grady. This was shaping up to be a great year for them and now this is gonna sort of hang over it all.
Again, nothing against Jeff, but this just isn't the same. I hope, after some touring, they just call it quits for good and reunite Ghostride, that would be some shit.

i saw the new will haven and i did enjoy it. jeff is great but just imagine chino getting replaced from the deftones. i feel those hardcore whvn fans.

Yes. But after the tour with the tones they would do a headlining UK tour, but the UK clubs cancelled when they heard Grady wasn't in the band anymore, afraid people wouldn't show up anymore.

the third is at the Metro in London, UK April 12th. After all the other ones were cancelled we are able to pull together ONE show in London, the Metro is a very small venue but we actually love that. Smaller venues always make for better shows. So this show is important, if it sells out fast there is a chance we can get a few more shows in the UK, so please come out and show the promoters that will haven fans are the most amazing fans around!!! we want to be there for you guys..

Shaun Lopez did an amazing job, and we cant thank him enough. This is by far the best record we have ever done, Jaworski is also amazing on the new record, I cant wait for it to come out and show people that we are back and stronger than ever...more news on the record soon...
so we look forward to seeing you on Thursday night or next week on the Deftones tour....

they also rocked the stage on saturday. jeff did a great job and the show was almost perfect i would say. i guess gradys missing spirit makes the band feel a little bit hollow, but jeff was definately the best alternate vocalist they could get.
If i remember right the girl from that pic above you posted Tuck was from France and is related to the guitarist.She was there aswell.
Will haven Set was only 30min. but they did a great job in that time playing 2 new songs and all their hits (I`ve seen my fate, carpe diem, dressed in night clothes, if she could speak...)
Record will release around June/July Mitch said.Go out and buy it.This band deserves it :)

those pics were awesome. you can see jeff's old guitar case in a couple of the pics that has the big snot sticker on it as well as some old deftones and tinfed stickers on it. it was also really cool to see the inside of slopez's studio a little more indepthly and see the equipment he has at his disposal

I can see your point, to me Grady is/was part of the Will Haven sound indeed.
But to say is was Will Haven all by himself, that's to much credit for him and far to little to Jeff Irwin's guitaring (the grooving parts, as well as the silent, treatening noises and soundscapes), Mike Martin's bass (the thick, grooving, rumbling sound) and Wayne Morse and now Mitch Wheeler's drums (the slower, straight - on style) ; it all adds.

"helena" is awesome. i am even more excited to hear this album now.
Heard it a couple of times now.
It sounds very...compressed, like there's all the music on one side and the vocals on the other side...hope it sounds more pulled apart (if that makes any sense haha) on the record.
It said in the My Space comments that the song's not mastered yet, that's probably why it sounds so compressed.
It kinda changes when I listen to it in different ways though, it sounds less compressed through iTunes and my speakers...
But, anyway....

In comparison, most tracks on 'WHVN' are heavier and darker then 'Helena'. But this is a different album. 'Helena' is definatly heavy, its definatly dark, it's absolutly Will Haven, it's just different from 'WHVN'.

not true, Im pretty sure he didn't quit the band, just the fact of touring he couldn't do, and to include Jaworski into the mix, they recorded with him.

But to record the record with one vocalist makes the effort feel more as one, a whole (for the lack of better words). I think they went for that.

Called a couple of shops in Amsterdam (and The Hague), and they didn't have it! I was sure they'd have it, I was positive they'd have it, they always have stuff like that, but no. So there's no change of me picking it up in a store so I ordered it. Hope it's here soon.

they cant reach the level of the past albums, some songs on the new record are a little bit strange, but its not bad.
for now my highlight is still helena. maybe this record just needs a bit more time to grow on me. i will keep on listening during the next days.

ok, I've listened to the album a few times now... and I gotta be honest - I get more disappointed with it every time I listen. Jaworski is nowhere near as powerful and charming as Grady. the mixing of the album is awful - guitars are way too low and not nearly as much of a punch in the face they should be. and the vocals are too high in the mix. overall, the sound is very boring and "ordinary". if this was some generic rock band then the production would be great. but it's not fitting for Will Haven.
besides all that, most of the songs are rather boring. not one single song really stands out in my opinion.

halle-fucking-lujah. someone speaking sense. chino and slopez cant fucking produce, or mix for that matter. and the album is really boring. the best songs are the myspace demos and even they are bad cos you know grady ripped it harder than jaworski. his lyrics are also bad. glad i just downloaded it.

when you have the album, just do this simple comparison: start Saga off of Carpe Diem and then switch to Helena off of the new album. you'll see what I mean.
I just got the album today and listened to it from start to finish and it's easily their best album in every regard

yo i think the albums really good and all, but i do agree that the production is ordinary as. totally unlike Carpe Diem (or any other whvn album) in that the production doesn't sound unique or challenging to the listener.
kinda feels like theyve started again after a long slump and are taking baby steps.
i also think this album is much closer to the abominable iron sloth than any other whvn albums.
all of that said, of course i do think this is a great album and will haven still hold title high above the rest as one of the best heavy bands today.

Grady left to take up a joboppertunity to support his family. When the rest decided to ask Jeff not much time was left.
Also thought Eric Stenman was mixing it.
Haven't gotten the album myself, hope it'll get here soon.

There is no shop in The Netherlands (that I tried) that have it, unless you order it, which takes a long time and costs quite a bit.
I'd say, get it through Bieler Bros. It's quick and there's no transport costs (if I remember correctly).

we have finally put together a CD release show for our lovely hometown of Sacramento. The show will be Saturday August 25th @ The Blue Lamp in downtown Sacramento. We will have new merch, CD's and will be playing most of the new record. Should be an awesome night so come out.
As for tour news we have alot of things in the works now. An awesome full US tour is being put together now and we will have more info soon, also a headlining UK and select european dates are also in the works, these tours will start at the end of October.
we will also have new merch on here to sell which I heard will be up by this weekend.
The Helena video is done and will be posted very shortly as well.

YO!! back in the beautiful country of England, this place rules!!
I really dont know how we are still alive, we left San Francisco at 6pm and flew 10 hours into London,got NO sleep on the plane, mostly because some dude was crying and praying and tapping the plane window, thought some shit was going DOWN, so had to keep an eye on that fool.. after we landed we met the bus at the airport and off to the first show in Brighton. Brighton is an awesome city right on the ocean. It was Bonfire day there so they were lighting off fireworks ALL night, im not talking piccolo petes im talking about 4th of July Y2k works, from the time we got there until the bus left, it was crazy, I kept thinking it must have been HELLA expensive to be shooting off that shit ALL night, I mean the fireworks we get at home only last like 15 mins mostly because it cost a grip to shoot them, We walked down to the ocean and the boardwalk, it reminded me alot of a place called Santa Cruz near where I live. The show was AWESOME! I dont think we have ever played Brighton on our many tours in the UK but you wouldnt have known, the crowd was amazing, just going crazy and even stealing the mic from Jaworski and just singing..5 songs in i smashed my head on one of the monitors, after that I couldnt see anything, just a haze of hair swinging in the air. Thats probably why this diary makes no sense, bit of a consusion. I somehow ended up in the crowd on the last song and got stuck out there, played most of the song in the pit, Mitch was just about to stop playing to go out in the crowd to find me, thinking I was getting jumped haha, but I emerged back on stage with a big smile and all was good.
So we have to give much love to the fans in Brighton, you guys made the first show an amazing one, thank you thank you thank you..After the show we of course did our nightly kabob shop run which is always an experience. The dude behind the counter was speaking like Jabba the Hut, didnt make no damn sense, I ordered my food but was afraid he didnt know what I said, he just mumbled some noises..but after I fought with him to get my food I got my Veggi burger and was off to my bunk for some sleep which I had not got in a day and a half..So everything is good, everyone is in really good spirits, The Mirimar Disaster guys are super cool and an amazing live band,our bus driver Bill is the MAN, super cool,I have a feeling this tour will one of the best we have ever done..Off to Southampton now..write more tommorow..

Just for your information, according to some French inside sources, there won't be any video for Helena, as the guy who was supposed to edit it never finished it, and recently let it go... So it won't happen !
Nonetheless, another clip could be filmed after the English tour, but it will be for another song...
Also, Mike won't take part to this tour for professional reasons, and will be replaced by Rey Osburn (Ghostride/Death Valley High).

I saw WH yesterday at the Islington Carling Academy - London, UK and it was great show.
I really really like the new Vocalist, he is very similar to Grady, voice, energy and performances. He seems like a very nice guy, he thanked everyone for support and also mention the barrier that separated band from fans and by the end of the show he climbed over it to reach to fans.
Crowd was a bit lazy, standing at the back like frozen. There was a few headbangers at the front (incl me)which was cool, i was hoping for some moshing but seemed like it never happened. Some dudes gave me free beer by the bar, that was real happy times for me!
They were filming footage and to the end, twice guy with camcorder filmed us cheering for WH.
Wohhhoo Vadim will be on DVD!

So its Jeff I again, mitch didn have much more to say except he is still trying not to break shit..Well here we are in Cardiff UK, its a lovely day. We are actually doing a TV show today, playing live.good idea probably not,
the show last night in Exceter, or what we called Exodus, was rocking last night, fuck this keyboard is so fucking small I cant type!!!!!! k back to the show, the crowd was awesome, it was a good show because I had someones hair in the head stock of my guitar after theshow, dude tried to get me to sign his hair!!! love this place.So things are going well, except our bus driver bill, he was throwing apples at kids and slipped and cracked two ribs, so he has a messed up wing but is hanging tough like a new kid on the block, got to love him..last night we watched the Pantera 3 video on the bus, so I think tonight some shit will definately get broken...who has the Hulk juice??
so its Cardiff tonight, then we are off to London..we will check in from there. hopefully Jaworski will wake up for one damn minute to write a "blog'

hey jaworski here... OK I had no idea there was this big difference between Wales and England, so when I called Cardiff "England" I pratically got boo'd off the stage! Howev the crowd was very understanding & happy to educate this American on the differences. They got a whole other language and everything... ummm other than that, i'm still pretty confused!
The Cardiff show was great! The energy of the crowd was enough to make me want to jump in and sing from the floor. I dig these club shows where we can reach out and touch the crowd, without barriers. After the show I could feel a bit of a cold setting in, so I went straight to bed... despite the rest of the WHVN & Mirimar guys staying up all night & partying -yea it was kinda hard to sleep even with my eye mask & ear plugs.
I'm finally getting into some good sleep, when the Irwin comes waking me up because we're already in London & we're late for a photoshoot at RockSound. Our bus was parked HELLA far away, so it was a $100 cab ride across all of London with thick traffic (yea we saw Big Ben & the giant ferris wheel!). The RS dudes were awesome & made the costly trip worhwhile. Next we dragged our tired & hungry asses over to Radio One for an interview... damn that receptionist had the biggest afro ever!!! Like Erykah Badu and shit... she was hot! We talked about deathmetal rap, wearing shoes while they still in the box, jumping off the GG Bridge, and Zeitgeist the movie.... dot com.
The London show was cool. I wasn't into the whole crowd barrier thing, but we had fun playing on a big stage in one of the most amazing cities in the world. It was great to see some homies from the Brighton show, including the infamous "dead guy". We hung out, stayed up late, & had our 1st taste of American junk food over here feasting on Dominoes Pizza & Mc Deeeez... now I feel like shit of course. Time to do some yoga...
Tonight we gots Leeds. All I know about Leeds is the The Who's album "Live at Leeds" -so that's enough to make me love this place already. Can't wait to slay our little club tonight!

the other Jeff here!!! writting you from the land of that crazy bastard Robin Hood, the lovely city of Nottingham..I actually really love this city, we have been here pretty much on every tour and it has always been awesome. The people here are metal!! The show tonight should be interesting, the place we are playing is like the CBGB's of the UK, very punk but awesome, they are expecting tonights show to be insane, so im looking forward to it. We are playing with Charger which should be awesome as well. So hopefully I will write in next time with something bruised or broken on my body from the crowd.
other than that things are good, just getting alot of sleep the last couple of days which has been nice, Leeds last night was a good show but we were all so tired that we showed our sealegs on a few songs. I dont think Mitch has ever been asleep before 7am in the last 3 years of his life but he actually went down at 2 am last night, so he is recharged. The rest of us just ate pizza and watched Tracy Morgan on the bus.. ROCK N ROLL!!!! probably a good thing because tonight we will need all the energy we can muster up.
So things are going well, had a nice day walking around today, Rey bought a Batman belt buckle and if you know Rey then you know he is stoked!!!!! I have been filming alot of stuff for a possible new DVD, and I have some of the funniest shit I have ever seen, so im stoked with what what may be =) Well I know this dairy is a bit of a snore fest but shit we havent done shit in the past few days haha, but even on those chill days the guys on this tour have made this tour one of the best ever, having Pag and Rey with us has made this tour a non stop laugh factory, love those guys so much, the Mirimar Disaster guys are some of the coolest blokes ever, so this has been a family affair, and suprislingly not disfuctional like most, no drunk fathers no beat down moms and no creepy ass uncles, just love...
anyways, as you can tell my mind is warping so I must leave you with this until tommorow..

hello!! we are back from one of the best UK tours we have ever done! thank you to all of our amazing fans who came out... We finished the tour DVD this weekend and are now working on the trailer for it. The movie is about and hour and a half long of live footage and alot of behind the scenes insanity. As soon as we find a host for it we will post it, but the trailer will be available on youtube.com in the next few days. So thank you again to everyone and especially The Mirimar Disaster boys, they are amazing if you havent seen them yet. Check out there myspace page or if you are lucky to live in the UK then check them out when they are back on the road. Hopefully we will be doing a tour with them here in the US at the begining of the year. As for the UK we will be back over there in 08 to do a few festivals with a European tour in the works as well. Let you know more when we get info.
Other than that we have been working on a new video and of course working on new material.

Saw last November at the Music Box in Manchester. They played a pretty cool set though I wish they'd played Baseball Theory cos that's my favourite :[
Turnout was pretty poor... Capacity for the venue is about 500 I think and it wasn't even half sold out by the looks of things :/ Bit of a shame but I was there at the front headbanging along anyway haha and there was a mini mosh pit for ISMF and Carpe Diem. Jeff Irwin gave me his pick at the end of the set which was cool, and I pinched a setlist too :P

It's wierd though; I've seen bands like All That Remains and Misery Signals sell out the Music Box but when Will fuckin Haven play, turnout was pretty shitty :/
I'm pretty sure they've sold out bigger venues before though, so it was probably lack of promo or something this time round.

It's a European tour, not a UK tour. So, yup, they're not doing the UK this time, for a change.
Come on man, every tour outside the US has been a UK tour so far (with the exception of supporting the Deftones), this is, to be the best of my knowledge, the first time their headlining a European tour in their existence.
They posted a bulletin a while ago saying UK dates were in the works so I'd hazard a guess at the end of the year or something.
I'm still hoping they'll come over with Deftones in February though - that tour would be beyond awesome ;D

Both of those things happened last year: Deftones and Will Haven toured Europe, and Will Haven came to the UK.

Went to the first show in Huy and it was great! Driving up there with two of my best friends ever, dogging parts of the 520 KM worth of traffick jams in The Netherlands, speeding through Belgium, crashing (in) a hotelroom and having fun. My Own Private Alaska was great. Got their CD. Will Haven was just awesome. Great, storming set. Was great hanging out afterwards, cool and kind people.

we have been digging through the old tapes and found some really cool stuff, this is some footage filmed back in the day when we were recording WHVN, and touring a bit on that record and footage from some of our first shows, This was put together by our original drummer Wayne Morse. He and I are working together to release another will haven DVD that will have footage from our first show ever all the way until now, with interviews with all the past and present members, close friends and peers. We are also talking about releasing some unreleased will haven songs that we wrote when we first started.
So for now enjoy some OLD SCHOOL shit!!

I guess all the Will Haven fans left because significant news happened recently.
Will Haven have been rejoined by original frontman Grady Avenell. Despite Avenell's return though, the band will also still be involving his previous replacement, Jeff Jaworski. Official word on the matter from the band can be found below:
"After a little time off and doing a few benefit shows for our brother Chi Cheng of the Deftones, we are back to work. As some of you may have seen Grady did join us for a few of the benefit shows we did for Chi and also an amazing show in San Francisco a few months ago. After those shows we had a few dicussions about will havens future and Grady expressed that he would like to be a part of it. So after working out details I am very happy to say that we are currently working on a new record with Grady handling the vocal duties. Jeff Jaworski will still be a big part of the band and helping with the writting process on the new record. So we are more than excited to be all working together on making an amazing record.
We have been demoing a few songs and I can say that I could not be happier. We will continue to keep everyone up to date on when we expect to have a record out, hopefully in January next year or earlier. We may do one or two shows while we are working on the record so we will post them up when we figure out when and where; definately look for us to be in the Los Angeles area soon. That will most likely mark our first 'official' show with Grady. So we are more than excited to have Grady back with us, the time away has done him good because he is back with more rage than ever."

I've always loved the teamwork between guitarist jeff irwin and bassist mike martin in will haven songs, they pull of very effective shit together.
i hope i don't have to worry about a percussionist clown from slipknot playing bass instead of mike on this record.. and i hope the magic that's always been in the wh riffs will still be there

i've just listened through this beast of a record 3 times but i think it's a fantastic record. gonna listen some more when my physical copy arrives. the record is dark as fuck and has a very doomish feel to it, even by their standards... it's like a black hole sucking in all the light in the surroundings. incredible atmosphere. favourites so far are the siege,urban agoge,midas secret and harvesting our burdens just to a name a few. it's the record straight from hell, all i see is flames before my eyes when i listen to these songs 10/10
This album is really good, wish I got a physical version of it, but the iTunes version suits my musical needs perfectly. They don't sell WHVN albums up here in the great white north anyway.
The Heirophant wasn't bad, but Voir Dire just blows it away.
Can hardly wrap my head around the record; epic beyond limits.
Their show in London was amazing. Played the whole of 'Voir Dire' and a large selection of previous records (apart from the EP and 'The Hierophant'). Epic, intense, awesome.

Having first seen Will Haven when i was 14 years old, supporting Deftones, I can honestly say this is an honour. Will Haven opened the door for me to so much hardcore and weirder types of metal. Without them I doubt i would be releasing some of the records I do on Holy Roar and nor would some of the bands you like sound the way they do without them!
