Title: Grand Theft Auto IV
Post by: jbmp1390 on Jun 11, 2006, 09:18 PM
I can't wait for this game to come out. It' gonna kick so much ass.

Could be great, but GTA San Andreas was the first game in the series where I thought: alright, now it gets boring. That game was soulles. Big surroundings are OK but it needs more innovation and more fun now. Hope GTAIV will bring that.

You can always buy Saints Row to silence your thirst for GTA-style game.

gta 3 was great, gta vice city was maybe even better, but after that i was also kind of disappointed with san andreas. of course, you can do lots of stuff with your character, but i think that doesn't matter when the game itself is weaker and the jobs are overall funnier in gta3 and vice city.

Saints Row looks pretty good but I don't have my xbox 360 yet. I won't get it for a few months.

Saints Row is slated for the end of the summer, same as Scarface, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that last one... there are only few movie-licensed games that are actually of a quality that doesn't make you want to scrab your eyeballs out.

gta3.. i fucking love that game so much it hurts inside... the cities were absolutely perfect, and the graphics were so far ahead of there time.

now, with this new gtaIV. i heard its supposed to be so in depth. that in some missions, you take the highway, and actually have to drive mad long, and take the right exits.

i cant wait

i agree, san andreas did get boring to me after a while, i never completed it

GTA3 was awesome.  GTA VC was good, but it felt like a slightly worse GTA3.  GTA SA was basically GTA3, GTA VC, with massively improved controls.

Hope GTA 4 will be sexy.  I want them to improve the fist fighting a lot more though.  I'm not expecting Virtua Fighter, but making it less shallow would be cool.

Title: Re: Grand Theft Auto IV
Post by: Mike21 on Mar 13, 2007, 09:44 PM
Err, I'm sure it is.  Physics are the thing which are going to make games more realistic in the future.  Graphics have almost peaked, all that's left for games to accomplish is to make games feel real, and react realistically.  Physics and AI are the future of games.

That physics engine is awesome in the fact that it has AI that reads the physics and reacts to it. So it's like a ragdoll with a mind that can think for itself. It doesn't want to fall over.

Check it out.

Yeah, I noticed that in the video.  I thought it was player controlled though.  Physics like this will not only make games like GTA more awesome, it'll also help sports games massively.

Can't wait for GTA4 anyway.  Gonna be some good shit.

Oh, and one more thing...we can confirm that all footage in the trailer Things Will Be Different was captured directly from 720p gameplay running real-time in Rockstar's RAGE engine on a next-gen gaming console.

Very nice looking game so far and it's based in New York!!! whooo!!

No, its based in Liberty City (same city as GTA3) which is a parody on NYC. So its basically NYC, yes, but still Liberty City.

Great graphics, great space, great main character. Can't wait.

Well no shit man.

But i'm talking about Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, all that shit, So it's based in New York yes..but could be Liberty City gamewise. I really doubt any of the places in Liberty City from GTA3 will show up.

There's an obvious debate over where the GTA IV trailer shows the game will play out: The distinct NYC landmarks are too hard to ignore, but there isn't a clear sign that that's where Rockstar Games has set it—it could be a fictionalized New York, as hinted by the real MetLife building being portrayed in the video as the "GetaLife" building.
When we asked Rockstar Games for a clarification, a spokesman told TeamXbox: "We would like to let the trailer speak for itself. However, we can confirm that all footage in the trailer "Things Will Be Different" was captured directly from 720p gameplay running real-time in our RAGE engine on a next-gen gaming console."

Yeah, but obviously they will make it Liberty City (you can see the name pop up tons of times  in the trailer) to ensure they dont have to remake NYC to the smallest detail.

What they should have done is try to have leased the PGR3 engine from Bizarre Creations.  Although the game looks quite good, it doesn't look amazing graphically.

I have a tendency to nitpick over graphics in games.  I spotted quite a few low resolution textures, and the pedestrians weren't very detailed.  Yes Yes, it's being very petty, I know.  But like you said, with the amount of freedom in the game along with the size of the game, this can be forgiven.

It just looks like GTA with slightly better graphics. I know if it ain't broke don't fix it and that, but I guess I was expecting more. Let's hope the gameplay has taking a dramatic turn and it ain't just do this mission, do that mission.. Oh and now this mission.

Yes, it does actually from the looks of just the trailer.  I'm disappointed by the fact it's set in New York myself.  I wanted Tokyo.

I hope they change the gameplay too.  I think it should have controls similar to GRAW, and an in-depth fighting system like Virtua Fighter.  That would be fucking awesome.
Title: Re: Grand Theft Auto IV
Post by: Subliminal on Apr 02, 2007, 08:57 AM
Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas changed everything interms of Sandbox gaming. Infact, all GTA's always do, So don't be dissapointed by a flimsy trailer..this happens everytime.

So no doubt they will do it again, Despite what the game looks like, It's never been about how the game looks, Ever.

If they did worry about how it looked all the time, It would probably be a shit game with good graphics! I'm actually grateful for how it looks because it's never looked so good before.

Look at Driv3r and the graphics on that, GTA could of went that direction but they didn't because it would mean they didn't focus on gameplay, which is why Driv3r is shit.

The only thing i'm kinda dissapointed at is the fact that it's set in NYC (or Liberty City for all you tight arse fucks) A whole new new city would have been alot more fun. But i spose everyone is finally getting their wish. I just hope the planes and the flying engine is still going to be in it.

Who cares, Id rather use it in real life than in a game. Its just that it would be a more original setting that differs greatly from the cities the usual GTA game is settled in.

BTW, Saints Row gave you the option to smoke weed. Didnt make any sense.

lol, it was probably included for people who have never touched weed in real life to feel like they are gangsters or something, you know the type of people i'm talking about, they go on and on about weed and how good it is and have never smoked it themselves.

Yeah, problem is almost everything in Saints Row felt like that. Dont get me wrong I loved the graphics and how you could alter yourself to no end, but most of the missions, talk, cinemas, you know, the presentation, it felt like it came straight from MTV. While GTA is genuinely funny.

BTW, Saints Row gave you the option to smoke weed. Didnt make any sense.

lol, it was probably included for people who have never touched weed in real life to feel like they are gangsters or something, you know the type of people i'm talking about, they go on and on about weed and how good it is and have never smoked it themselves.

nah man. if i ever ran out of weed. id smoke through the game, getting my character stoned might catch me a buzz

A program that plays .dose files which are basically different frequencies with vivid descriptions of the the drug does which gives you sort of a placebo effect, making you feel the high described.

It's pretty cool. It totally works, even though I know how it works.

All you have to do is read the description thouroughly and relax and listen to the tones, it's pretty hard to mess that up...unless you're illiterate, in which case I have no idea what the fuck you're doing on the internet.

All it is is your subconcious tricking you into thinking you're on drugs.

Did you even read the description?

I usually read it three times to be sure my subconcious knows what it's trying to simulate.

EDIT: I hope the multiplayer in 4 is better than in San Andreas. The multiplayer in SA sucked.

No shit, it was a last minute add on..

But, seriously the game don't need a multiplayer.. Phenomenal 1 player game it's gonna be

It doesn't need multiplayer...but imagine for a moment...

You've been stuck on a mission for several days now. While trying the mission for the 50th time getting really frustrated, you see a message that a friend of yours logged on. You know he has GTA4 so you send him an invite. He joins halfway through the mission, right before the hardest part. You beat it the first time you try together.

How rad would that be?

Or online free roam with like 50 people terrorizing all of Liberty City simultaneously. Tanks driving everywhere trying to stop you all.

How rad would that be?

Oh yeah there's that! haha

But, just it doesn't get too multiplayer oriented, it is a one player game after all.. Whatever i'm drunk.. haha

There was multiplayer on PS2.

They also made a mod for the PC version that allowed online multiplayer.

SA MP is the best multiplayer mod for San Andreas on the PC, i've had it for a while now and still play it. Deathmatches, Races, Stunts, Cops & Robbers, it's highly addictive

The only letdown is the amount of cheaters that are on it using trainers to get full health and all the weapons.
