He's probably just saying that so fans stop speculating so much and listen to DE

that's a good point. "don't focus on deftones without me, focus on deftones with me!"

Pretty much sums up my opinion of him

Fuck Eros.  Time to get working on some Team Sleep.

WHAT??!!!
??? ??? ???
That's crazy talk!!!!

I guess that was a little harsh.  I would surely like to hear Chi's last material but I have a feeling Eros isn't anything mindblowing.  I'd much rather hear some new TS over some new Tones.

It wouldn't be "New" though, in the sense that it wouldn't sound as boring as DE, it'd be closer to SNW which is closer to Team Sleep

True, but SNW wasn't too impressive IMO and I have a feeling Eros isn't anything mindblowing either.  Its time for some new TS.  The new shit they played during their short 07 tour was 10 x better than anything the tones have written in the last 6 years.  Thats my opinion of course.

Fair point, considering the amount of unreleased material they have, one album is fucking ridiculous .

yeah, There's tons of great stuff from these dudes to be heard (with & without chino's voice). You know, a tour every year or two wouldn't hurt.

Seriously Nico, even some instrumental stuff would be great.  I'll take anything!

really hope someone ripped this or there's somewhere to watch it. did he say no eros as in no eros ever? i just want to hear a solid no so i can give up hope of it ever coming out. i've already said for a long time it's never going to be released but it'd just be nice to put that tiny bit of hope to rest. also a full length crosses would be cool. hopefully none of the ep stuff gets recycled for it.
Well there was a question that read "Eros?" and he just said "No Eros" and got interrupted by that other guy.

Are you fucking kidding me?

are you calling sergio a liar? how dare you? the eros snippets doesn't sound like snw either, maybe it doesn't sound like any of the records aside from one song.melanie does sound like rats though, but those songs doesn't sound like team sleep

I agree.

Someone needs to get Anonymous to hack the computers at The Spot, and extract all songs for Eros.

So Anonymous if your watching, fuck Facebook. Hack the Deftones shit and give us all their sweet unreleased music.  ;D

eros is the album between snw and d.e.. what is it that says it leans more towards snw than d.e? sergio said that d.e doesn't differ much from eros. if you listen to the eros riffs from the studio, that material do sound much more brutal than any of those records though

In reference to Eros, Chino mentioned the songs are more like a jam session and well, it sounds like they may be repetitive (melanie for example). They're unorthodox meaning (not the same so thats sort of like SNW), aggressive (mix of both SNW and previous albums) and has the FYIHYD stuff(adrenaline and a bit of around the fur)
Sergio also mentioned that the Eros songs are longer and less structured than D.E. I notice DE has structure in it. Eros can be a mix of both but Id say maybe closer to SNW.
The snippets in the clips are probably unused riffs that may not even appear on Eros for all we know. They could be part of songs or probably not....
Sergio's explanation of Eros's songs is very vague, he describes nothing about the songs like Chino did except them being longer (which was the case with SNW until Shaun Lopez chopped them up)
Stephen said he's playing more melodic stuff on Eros as well, so the bottom line is:
Eros is a mix of both Diamond eyes and some of their previous stuff like Around the fur, SNW.
Thats what Ive come up with from my analysis. Please feel free to add.

I really don't find Melanie to be any more or less repetitive than anything else they've written.

FYIHYD not have the feel of Adrenaline / Around the Fur at all (from what i heard), isn't that just a piano solo played by Chino?

Vesanic

FYIHYD (the song) is the piano composition by Chino, and these letters stand for " Fuck you, I hope you die ".

During the Eros days, Chino said:

" So far, it's shaping up to be our most unorthodox piece of work, not only sound-wise but the way a lot of the songs have come about. There is also some of that good old "fuck you, i hope you die!" aggression I know a lot of you love and miss from us. "

When he says "fuck you, i hope you die!" aggression, I guess he means the raw dark sound from the old days and not the FYIHYD track, the similarity is just a coincidence.

Yes, that's what I meant. thanks for bringing that up. I am going to wait for EROS to come out and hear what its like but if anyone else can piece together what they think it will be based on the information we have, please do !

just because melanie is similair to rats doesn't mean they made an entire record sounding like snw. after all that record wasn't exactly a hit. what eros snippet reminds you of snw? that intro sounds more like d.e's beauty school

DE was made under special circumstances. I thought that'd be obvious.

yes they were under pressure. there's this theory that they used a lot of stuff from eros and polished it up with nick because there was no time. maybe that was what sergio heard. and maybe that's why deftones want to keep eros in the dark

Eros and Diamond Eyes are two completely different records. nothing recorded for Eros made it on to diamond eyes. that is fact. I wish people who do their research before making assumptions that deftones were just reusing previously recorded material on diamond eyes, i mean come on, they are NOT glassjaw...

I remember Chino did an interview when DE came out where he basically said that Deftones needed to release a great record in order to keep going and to grow or at least keep their fanbase.
He was basically implying that Deftones couldn't afford to release another album like SNW.
As great as SNW is, it's not exactly a lot of people's favourite Deftones album.

It really sounded to me like Chino thought that Eros possibly wasn't that great or perhaps that it was a little too unorthodox and might alienate fans.
He made it sound like DE was, if not a superior album in terms of quality, one that would please the fans and perhaps get them noticed by new fans.
Perhaps that's the reason Deftones aren't releasing Eros.
Maybe the material is similar to SNW in that it's more experimental and unorthodox, not that the songs sound the same.

Perhaps now that they're at the top of their game again, getting such good reviews for DE, they're reluctant to release it as they may view it as a step backwards in terms of the progress they made with DE.
Surely if the album really was really mindblowing, the record company would really be pressing them to release it, after-all a lot of money must have been spent to get it recorded and produced.
Also surely the band wouldn't just shelve (possibly completely now) material that would really make people take notice.
I just get the impression that the band is not as proud of the material as they are with the material on DE.

Perhaps they don't want us thinking that this album represents the band well but are reluctant to say it because it's obviously Chi's last work and trashing it would feel a little disrespectful to him.
If this is the case and they feel they don't want to release and promote it as a proper Deftones album/release, maybe they should make it available only for download.
I don't really care if it doesn't live up to expectations and all the hype it's garnered, I still want to hear it.

Even if it's terrible it won't tarnish my view of the band as we can obviously judge DE as being more the direction the band is taking, knowing that it was written and recorded after Eros.
It's in the past now, so even if it really sucks, it doesn't really matter.

By the way does anyone know which interview I'm talking about, maybe someone has a copy.It may be Rollin Stones but I'm not certain at all.
