Sounds great.. love the dynamics and the soundscapes... what kinda VST instruments or / synths do you use to create your music?

Was testing out recording in windows 10 and ended up just recording a loop of the riff from one of my previous ideas and improving over it like Todd from Team Sleep does, it's messy as usual but if you're in to that style you may like it.

For sure sounds like you got a team sleep vibe going on, I like it. I dig a lot of ambient music and love fucking around with heavy amounts of reverb and delay on my patches for song ideas as well. What kinda amp and fx are you using?.. you almost nailed the Todd sound with your setup.  I do 100% of my guitars with a Line 6 POD HD 500.
I'm all HD500 aswell, I haven't had it long so I'm still figuring it out but I'm happy with the delay tones it has, my delay patch uses a Blackface Dbl Nrm Pre which I believe is modeled off the fender twin Todd uses, then I use a hall reverb, analog delay with a little bit of tremolo at the end. Here's the actual patch I use it's got the ch vol of the amp mapped to the foot controller so you can use it to fade notes in and out.

This is the patch I use as my standard sort of delay sound but sometimes I'll make variants of it like one with more tremolo or one with the time knob of the the delay pedal mapped to the expression pedal and delay feedback turned up to get those weird loops.

you should send me one of your improves i'll do something teamsleepish with it.

DeftonesNZ

That'd be cool, I only really have that one I posted earlier recorded so I'll give you the split tracks from that if you want to do something with them, one track is the looping riff and the other is the improv I played over the top, most of my time playing is improving over a loop like that but I never really record them because I'm lazy but i'm trying to get into the habit of doing it now I've upgraded my hard drive and have the room to store them.

Another simple one, it's pretty rough and basic at the moment, I actually had it longer and with other riffs on top of it but I decided to strip it back for now because I like the bones of it.

Nice, thanks for sharing that patch... I love the blackface dbl nrm pre for most of my cleans (I like the hi-watt model too). The POD HD does ambient very well.. I struggle the most with getting a high gain sound that works well in the mix and one that I'm content with for heavier stuff...
here's a link to a clean ambient patch I use alot: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/1156505/

Also, this guide will help you tremendously on getting to know your POD HD with a ton of info about it and how to build patches, DeftonesNZ.

Here's a rough mix of a new track I've been working on... Its one of the first songs I wrote with my 8 string. It's not perfect but its getting close to where I want it. I'm working on the vocals for it right now, and have to correct a few kinks within the track.

No problem, yeah the pod is tricky for high gain tones I get heavy tones that sound alright through speakers but when recorded sound crap but I don't do original stuff with high gain so I'm not that bothered, I actually found that page you suggested a while back and it had some helpful stuff in it I've still got to go back and read it properly on a rainy day when I have the motivation lol.

Pretty good mixing on that 8 string track I know they can be tricky and just end up sounding muddy a lot of the time, I've got an 8 string myself (S8QM) but I think I'll go back to 6 for my next guitar I like being able to play new Deftones stuff but when writing new stuff I was just completely neglecting the extra strings.

Heres a snippet of a new song I'm working on for my project Color the Void. Kinda got a pop/ambient and hard rock vibe. I dunno.. but I hope to finish it by the end of this month.

thanks man! really appreciate the feed back on works in progress..

That track you posted is pretty tight.. the layers are dope.. that melody and sub bass just pulls the whole track together. You have excellent mixing skills, sir.

Thank you kind sir. It's been a full year since I started  making my own stuff. Still figuring  it  out

my band Mammoth Grove will be releasing our debut full length in November. I will post it on here then. But it is bluesy stoner rock/psychedelic. Pretty excited these days as we are also going to be opening up for Earthless when they play here in Calgary
Dingus.

That's a banging song. I'm kind of envious of your production skills here! Good job.

This is a new rap track I laid down yesterday. Any feedback appreciated.

Thank you,

Box.

That's some outsider art level shit. Took me by surprise. And sometimes i likes my music like i likes my comedy: unexpected.

Thanks a lot for listening.

I know this music is a little out there and don't hold hopes of making it onto the Starbucks playlist or anything like that.

But yeah I'm glad you found it at least of interest.

Do you make music too? I'd be happy to give something of yours a listen in return.
