Depends how well received this upcoming one will be

Something about the wait for this one has just been so meh
Good evening... and welcome to the white pony

Draken

When I started on this forum, the site was active with people having discussion. (Of course it usually always devolved into spats over who thought which Deftones album was their best, but the threads were alive.) and I discovered lots of other music and made some good connections here on this site. I'll just say that it's different nowadays.

As for Deftones, I don't think this will be their last one. They'll stop when Chino wants to stop. But I think they will just continue making less aggressive music, while still keeping it heavy. At least that's what I hope they do instead of quitting, because they're amazing at what they do and it would be a tragedy.

I think we'll be able to tell if they're gonna make more albums when this next one is out. Right now its safe to say they will.

All we gotta do is wait for it to come out... Its been in the making since February 2023 which is pretty insane to think about.

Too many days without a speculation post.

Maybe they play a new song in europe during one of the festivals that live stream their set? doubtful, but the copium is strong.

I hope so... but knowing them, they won't play anything new. In fact I believe this record wont see the light of the day til next year.

Yes, I know they've said it'll be out this year, but then again... we know how Deftones works.
And all the days I've missed you 🍂

This is only my 2nd album cycle as a fan, is this silence typical for them?
I think I remember someone saying there was a long wait for SNW

Inkblades

This is definitely the most radio silence there's ever been. They played Beware and Rapture live like eight months before SNW dropped, and they put HITE on their Myspace in late August of 2006, so we had more than a tease (probably too much tbh). I feel like they also talked upcoming albums up in the media more back in the day, but that might just be a cultural shift from then, things were different. And more social media hints, too - they were pretty active on Myspace and their website with updates and stuff. It's also the longest gap between albums now - we're going on five years since Ohms. That's half a decade, which is kind of fucking crazy to think about.

When they finally do start the rollout, I'm going to try hard as possible to only listen to the first single and that's it. No second single listens for me. I want the whole album in one shot.

I'm surprised there's not much murmuring about it neither. Some sort of rumors floating around about a certain song or any details at all that would slip through the cracks. We did hear some stuff but very sparsely.

Mystery is a good thing but at this point its just getting exhausting, slowly but surely.

RaptureWS

Their rise in popularity, history of leaks and lack of streams from the last couple albums have coalesced in to a situation where the label has an iron grip on this thing. I hate that this feels like such a corporate, secretive release. Not even mysterious in a fun way.

This is why I, quite literally, went through a stage of grief and acceptance when I got the scoop many months ago. I have accepted it and expect to be wearing hoodies again before I hear even a single second from this album. Thankfully video games are popping off lately (Clair Obscur is GOATed) and this year has so many more bangers on the way. Nothing in the universe hits like new Deftones. But good games help ease the wait :)
Throw your faith in me. I'll take you some place brand new....

Yes. He's gone from here indefinitely his own decision. Hope the best for him in his future endeavours, whatever they may be. Hopefully he will always be a fan

I just thought of a new conspiracy, what if Ves is Tokyodrifter?

He's the middle man for the band and the fans, he seems to have a lot of knowledge about things that no one else could know unless they had a contact at Warner or in the band.

Tokyos first post is "don't say i never gave you anything" as if they're a member of the forum who's been here a while. Yes another wild conspiracy, but that dude knows way to much to not be involved in some way with the band, despite his apparent lack of love for the band, which may be a ruse to throw us off.

And I think he deleted his main account so he wouldn't have to deal with the incoming posts when something new drops soon and he just wants the incoming mob of posts to come and go.

I don't think Ves was allowed to listen Ohms before it was released. But this is interesting

Honestly I had the same thought, strangely enough. He could be but I don't want to trivialize his decision (unless he decides to come back). Not that I wouldn't wanna discuss the possibility of him being tokyo, but if he's going away for serious reasons I don't want to disrespect that decision if you know what I mean.

I remember that if I'm not mistaken he did so because he went to see them and they didn't play pink maggit or something like that. Either way good luck with everything.
