Genre: stoner-metal
S:t Erik - Goddess (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nVsTpYN30c#)

Imagine cavemen playing stoner metal around the fire. This is pretty much what you are getting into. Nice memorable riffs. Super-drone, psychedelic, so set your bong to kill. Beat this, Mark! ;D

I am a little worried how "albums of the week" might become "hey look I found an album which is like sooooooooooo much better than you did last week" contest, lol.

Just kidding obviously.
I will be sharing something else soon, have been listening to some shiz lately.

WECOME TO THE POST-EMO WEDNESDAY
(which is also my birthday, btw)

Even though most of you heard this album, I still HAVE to share it with the others. Because it's an amazing post-rock / emo (okay, definitions are lost out there) album.
Sometimes vocals are a LITTLE off but overall this is a very enjoyable good written album.

good choice, man. i think everyone here could find something to like out of "Waves".

Really. I keep listening to it. It's so emotional, I want to sing with the vocalist most of the time since I already know most of the lyrics anyway.
I love this album. Yes, it's a little mainstream and emo-ish. So what, fuck the hate, love more.

mainstream? oh no, sellouts!

SELLOUTS I TELL YA
Recently my understanding of what a "sell out" is is changing. I mean. Making accessible music.. is not selling out. It's just making good, universal music.

if you don't like a band only because they're mainstream, you're a douche.

WELCOME TO THE AVANT-GARDE-TRONICA MONDAY!

DAN DEACON - BROMST
(http://stereogum.com/img/dan_deacon-bromst-cover.jpg)
CHECK IT OUT (http://www.mediafire.com/?mcevdmdtnom)
Genre: weird folk / experimental / indietronica

Dan Deacon - Snookered (new album Bromst drops March 24th) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ysUbo4bED4#)

Note: this album is definitely not for everyone. It's a very 8-bit-ish collision of chaotic indie, pop and strange electronica. Highlights - Build Voice, Snookered, Padding Ghost. This album is great on drugs, lol. Some of the songs might be a little annoying but other ones (especially Snookered) are blissful.

Imagine a hi-speed version of Animal Collective. Non-abstract ODDSAC. Something along those lines.

WELCOME TO THE FOLK & MINIMAL FRIDAY!

Two new albums this.. week (lol, must have been like 2 months). Both quite different.

ALBUM #1 - Wye Oak - The Know

genre: indie rock/folk rock/female vocals
Check it out and then buy it (http://www.mediafire.com/?m2zkyhmzoyw)

A very nice indie/folk album with wonderful melodies, quite catchy, nothing over-the-top experimental/unique. A very fine album to enjoy on a sunny evening.
Standout tracks: Tattoo

p.s. if you like the album, BE SURE to check the other one, 'Civilian'.
[/spoiler]

ALBUM #2 - Bvdub - The Art of Dying Alone

Ah, droney minimal ambient techno.. It's in the background, it's in the back of your skull. Super honest, super dreamy.  Repetitive.

I started listening to S:T Erik - From under the tarn again today, after a period of listening to almost dopesmoker almost on a daily basis. It's not hard to hear the inspiration from Sleep. So good.

Sleep are much more chaotic and noisy, while S:T Erik keeps catchy lines and hooks!

That track by Jon Hopkins is already among the best things I have heard all year.  Hope the entire album is just as good.

And the video is so cool, too. All thats needed for a stylish video: a good camera, and a kid with a blue eye skateboarding in slow motion ;) luv it

the album is very very nice. Tracks are rather different but there's the same hi-fi modern electronic sound. Get it! :)

Never checked it out. It appears the free version has a few restrictions, like the limited time contingent or reduced sound quality which kinda sucks.
But I've been getting along too well downloading music for the last 15 years. Its not the same kick like in the beginning, waiting 20 minutes for one song to download, but I like having shit locally too much.

in other news, my package from Klaipeda has arrived with new jerseys :) ever been there?
Title: Re: Discoveries. by lostpilot / the Picturesque Episodes.
Post by: lostpilot on Jul 10, 2013, 07:12 PM
the sound quality is not that bad at all, it's pretty fine, and all I get are some commercials every 10 or so songs. Yes they are annoying, but yes, at the same time I get to stream free music. worthwhile. at the same time I am still downloading some of my favorite tracks or albums for mp3 player which is my sidekick, basically.

Yes, I have been in Klaipėda many times, it's a sea port, but not the most gorgeous place to be at - especially if you want to see the Baltic Sea :0

At some point its gonna happen ;) Truth is I always have these massive plans and hardly ever go with one quarter of it ulitimately  ^_^
a friend was studying abroad in Talinn one semester, which definitely feels like a missed opportunity, I could've stayed there for a few days, then maybe went South and see a bit of Latvia and then Lithuania.

At least Summer holidays in Greece are finally booked, nice

Some rather obvious choices for latest discoveries:

WASHED OUT / "Paracosm"
BEACON / "The Ways We Separate"
DISCLOSURE / "Settle"
JAGWAR MA / "Howlin"
PURE BATHING CULTURE / "Moon Tides"
FOREST SWORDS / "Engravings"
SOLAR YEAR / "Waverly"

"Paracosm" IS the album of this summer for me. It's perfect
