so, how was it?

Both shows were phenomenal. This being the first time I had ever seen Deftones, I was admittedly skeptical towards the impending performance and more specifically, the performance of Chino as some YouTube videos have portrayed him as tiring rather quickly during a set. Of course, I was terribly wrong. Having seen many other bands in a live setting, I can say with confidence that Deftones are at the very top when it comes to putting on an engaging, energetic and moving performance.

It really was magical hearing songs that were only known to me in an intimate setting, through computer speakers and headphones emit through amplifiers with throngs of other enthusiastic, passionate fans. Chino, fortunately proved me wrong as well. For a guy nearing 40 years, he can sure still move with a spring in his step and swagger in his shoulders. Vocally, he was impeccable - hitting all of his cues, screaming nearly everything demanded of him and as a front man really understood how to work the crowd.

As for the rest of the band, they were flawless and everyone seemed genuinely thrilled to be there and jam out. It was incredible to see everything synchronize as well as the music, the performers and the crowd did. Also of note, the light show and visual backdrop only added to the experience. I know fully understand why I consider Deftones to be my favorite band.

Setlist:

May 13: Diamond Eyes, Rocket Skates, Birthmark, Engine No. 9, Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away), My Own Summer (Shove It), Digital Bath, Korea, Knife Prty, Hexagram, Minerva, Bloody Cape, You've Seen The Butcher, Sextape, Prince, Cherry Waves, Feiticeira, Elite, Change (In the House of Flies), Passenger (with Greg Puciato)
Encore: Root, Nosebleed, 7 Words

May 14: Diamond Eyes ,CMND/CTRL ,Rocket Skates, Around the Fur, Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away), My Own Summer (Shove It), Lhabia, Lotion, Digital Bath, Royal,
You've Seen The Butcher, Sextape, Risk, Beauty School, When Girls Telephone Boys, Minerva, Hole in the Earth, Elite, Change (In the House of Flies), Passenger, Headup
Encore: Engine No. 9, 7 Words

Oh, and don't bother inquiring about that complete, taped show unless you're willing to pay $23 for it. The whole transaction seems really sketchy. It's disappointing that someone would take advantage of a Deftones concert and their fan-base like that.

It was FANASTIC. Chino has so much damn energy now.

Some kid literally jumped over me FOR NO REASON during Digital Bath, hitting in me in the head and knocking my hat off. I could understand trying to do some wild shit during one of the heavier songs, but Digital Bath? Guess that's what I get for standing near the pit. It ruined the next song for me (I believe it was Knife Prty) because I was too busy trying to locate my hat.

Other than that, damn good show.

oh man, i guess that's why the place is so strict against recording... what a douche to charge people for a single source video...

I got my cam in surprisingly easy, but got busted 30 mins into it.  The place apparently has a reputation for taping... doh.  I got away with the memory card, so still have some footage and good audio but i guess it depends on how the others did if this project will pan out... if not, i'll make something for what i have or just work on the other dvd from the tour.

fun show though, brutal indeed

Would LOVE to see more video from this night!!! I took 3 videos with my iPhone, but I was so close to the speakers the sound is shitty. View is nice though since I was right up there. So far I've uploaded Passenger to YouTube and will try to upload the other two, but those are shaky since Chino was right in front of me for a lot of them and I stopped looking at my iPhone for a time. haha.

Sure, you can use them (credit is appreciated though, even though they're not the best). I uploaded Passenger for download at meagvideo http://www.megavideo.com/?v=L8RH76ET for a fan in the crowd who Chino was singing to at the end of that video (she contacted me on YouTube and requested it).

Would love to get video footage where Chino grabbed my hand during the one song, I think maybe it was Bloody Cape. That's why I want to see more footage from this night since he came over directly in front of me several times. :P
