Thoughts on White Silence?

I've only listened to it once and it's definitely not an album you can completely digest on the first listen.

Very aggressive, psychedelic, weird... I dig it, for sure.

I like it, but yeah it does seem kind of different. Overall, not what I was expecting from them. But I'm not calling it a disappointment by any means, gonna need more listens.

Love the slower songs suprisingly enough... Album is a little short, they probably could have added 1 more song to round it out but It's def. A solid record and quite different for them.

I just can´t grip the album yet. I had huge hopes for the album but it wasnt like i thought it would be. "Sing my loves" had this slow tempo crusching feeling with both screams and singin. And that epic ending is one of the best things i´ve heard. So good! but i dont think it represents the rest of the album. It´s so aggressive overall and not so melodic. And the ending with 3 acoustic softer songs doesnt really fit i think. it´s all good! but i don´t like the order of the songs.

Starz

"Sing My Loves" is the best song on the album yet it's so out of place with everything else. I was hoping the album would be as epic as "Sing My Loves" but sadly no. I'm still enjoying it though

I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or not yet. I'm in a weird place with the album. In terms of material, I enjoy the four tracks from their last EP more than the whole album as of today (maybe I need to listen to the album a few more times?) - I'm actually surprised that this album doesn't resemble the EP more. I was expecting the four songs from the EP on the full length, and the full length to have the same type of direction as the EP (which was just KILLER in my opinion).

I was really hoping for an album of catchy songs like Retina Sees Rewind, to be honest.

This album is really, really, really abstract, and Stevens vocals barely seem existent on the album.

Yeah, they definitely went weird and experimental with this album.

I'll give it another spin tonight.

Edit: Just listened to it again. It really clicked with me this time.

mr.sinister

I loved the overall rawness of the album. Its heavy as fuck. So far I really enjoyed it. I give it a 4/5.

I say this honestly; what am I missing with the new album?

It's such a diverse album, showing off everything they're capable of.

Songs like Serpents and Vicious Circles are so unapologetically aggressive and brutal, that it feels like my face is being ripped off.

Sing My Loves is simply a mammoth of a song. Slow, sludgy, melodic, aggressive...it has everything.

Love the softer songs too. Summit Fever especially. Probably the most "typical" Cave In song on this album.

Heartbreaks, Earthquakes could be mistaken for a Pink Floyd song. Fantastic.

Iron Decibels comes completely out of nowhere. It has an almost psychobilly/Elvis/Danzig kinda feel to it.

Well, I love it, but hey, don't force it upon yourself. If you don't like it, no biggie.
